Chapter 23 Fighter, Becky Corola

"Mr. Hyde, are you feeling any better?"

"Much better. Diseases caused by extraordinary items come on quickly, but if there's an antidote, they go away just as quickly."

Hyde said.

Roy nodded: "Then we need to find someone else and see what he really means, and whether we can get some compensation out of him."

"That fighter?"

"Yes."

Roy nodded. "His name is Becky Corola. He runs a club. Although he's done some disguises, his gambling habits are hard to change. I happened to observe him for a few days."

"Your right hand?"

Hyde recalled carefully and then realized something was wrong: "There was a time when he chased after someone and used a greatsword technique, which didn't seem to fit the normal fighting style."

"Yes."

The greatest ability of those who can see through secrets is their memory.

Their unparalleled memory allows them to remember what they've seen and some actions, and coincidentally, he had been observing Becky's fighting techniques during this time.

and so.

He knew Becky's habits and movements very well.

such as--

When the opponent throws a sword or a punch, they will avoid techniques that put too much strain on their wrists and instead use the strength of their entire arm.

Roy confirmed his suspicions with old Ryan.

Becky was a soldier who retired due to a wrist injury, but somehow recovered.

Those movement habits must have been left over from before the injury healed.

Hyde nodded slightly: "Let's do some divination first. Although we can't completely trust divination, it can be useful sometimes, especially when dealing with warriors."

"You're right."

"Looks like he didn't go to the Steam Church, but went back to the club. Uh, did he think we hadn't discovered his identity?"

……

"You're here? Or are you practicing your boxing?"

"No, I need your help. Shall we talk over there?"

Roy took two steps back.

Becky's smile froze. "Let's go upstairs," she said. "It's quieter there."

"it is good."

Roy followed Becky, but kept a distance of three steps.

Becky was tense all over, and several times he wondered whether or not to make a move, but in the end he seemed to give up.

Outside the window, a butterfly fluttered away.

A moment later, Roy and Becky went upstairs to the office. Becky took a cigarette from a drawer, puffed out a cloud of smoke, and sighed, "How did you recognize me?"

"Your right hand was injured before. I guess you recovered after taking the Warrior's Potion, but some habits you hadn't been able to correct during the injury period."

Roy said, "It just so happens that I've been studying combat sports lately, so I noticed it."

Becky paused for a moment, then suddenly realized, "Oh, I didn't know that at all."

"That's normal. Many people don't even know what their own habits are."

Roy smiled slightly.

"Aren't you afraid I'll tell on you?"

Becky said.

Roy shook his head: "First of all, Mr. Hyde is a kind wizard; he just saved a ship full of people. Secondly, you're cooperating with the Morse Order; who do you think they'll trust more?"

Becky nodded silently, then said, "I didn't intend to target your Steam Church. They said it was only targeting a wizard, and that killing him would grant me the secret to advancement. Of course, that's no longer necessary, since you've already killed the employer."

Do you want it?

Roy said.

Becky stared blankly for a moment, somewhat incredulous: "What?"

"Do you want to know the secret to promotion?"

Roy repeated it.

Becky opened her mouth, then said, "You know?"

"I don't know, but Mr. Hyde certainly does. And you're crazy to be working with the Morse Order. You'd be better off helping Mr. Hyde; at least he's more principled."

Roy said, "After all, the Morse Order is backed by a mad god."

Becky gave a wry smile: "There's nothing I can do. I recently obtained an extraordinary item that allowed me to see the future—I saw myself out of control, turning into a mad monster. This has been bothering me, so I think that advancing my skill level or improving my control over potions would help."

"What you received should be an item created using the monster's extraordinary characteristics."

Hyde's head appeared outside the window. "Hello, Mr. Becky, my name is Hyde Carson."

"Mr. Hyde, your fighting skills have impressed me."

Becky exclaimed in genuine admiration, and went over to help open the window, saying, "You are an agile wizard."

Hyde climbed in through the window, brushed the dust off his clothes with a flourish, and smiled gently: "Because I have taken my duty as a martial arts scholar seriously."

Becky frowned.

Should I seriously strive to be a good martial arts scholar?

What does that mean?

He had a vague feeling—

The other party seemed to have told him a very valuable secret. He had just had an inspiration, but unfortunately, he couldn't grasp it.

Be a good combat scholar.

He looked at Roy and suddenly understood.

Could this be Sequence 8 of the Seekers' Path?

and so.

Roy is already Sequence 8?

Becky's breathing quickened; she understood instantly.

This is the secret to promotion!

"Mr. Hyde, I... I'm so sorry, I accepted a mission on the black market earlier..."

"It's alright, Mr. Becky. You were just employed by someone else, and you gave up after that person died. Otherwise, I would still have been killed by you, but the compensation would definitely have been substantial."

Hyde said, "Okay, let's get back to the point. In the situation you just described, you have two choices: one is to give up that extraordinary item, whose negative effects might drive you mad."

You mean...

"Yes, if you don't believe me, you can find a trusted appraiser."

Hyde nodded.

Becky opened her mouth, then said, "What about the other one?"

"Work with me, and I can give you the same methods."

Hyde sat down. "Believe me, fighter, it's precious, far more precious than you can imagine."

What do I need to give in return?

Becky Way.

Hyde thought for a moment and said, "Is Volo the only person contacting you?"

"Yes, he told me that there were no other partners in Tingen, so he found someone to cooperate with, but he didn't go into details."

Becky nodded.

Only him?

Roy vaguely understood—

The situation in Tingen has become increasingly complex, and most high-sequence seekers are unwilling to get involved.

After all, too many eyes are being cast this way.

Unfortunately, the babbling spell drove the other person completely insane, making it impossible to even summon spirits; otherwise, they could have learned even more information.

"grateful."

Hyde nodded slightly. "So, have you thought it through? Do you want to join? If not..."

"I need to know what we'll be doing in this collaboration."

Becky said, "If I work with Volo, I can still stay in Tingen, but if I join you, I might have to leave. The two are different."

"You don't need to do much, just help me gather information about the Morse Penitentiary and a few extraordinary materials."

Hyde said, "Of course, I might need your help when necessary, provided it's not too beyond your capabilities."

"Okay, I agree."

Becky took a deep breath, then with a bitter face, took out two pieces of paper and quickly wrote something down.

"I have nothing else but two potion recipes as compensation."

He dared not keep anything to himself.

One Sequence 9 Warrior, one Sequence 8 Fighter.

The two recipes together are worth quite a bit of money.

"Thank you both for not holding a grudge!"

He presented it respectfully.

Hyde memorized the recipe and then handed it to Roy.

Roy remembered this and destroyed it immediately.
