Chapter 89 Nick Fury Arrives (First Update)

With Christmas approaching, every household hangs colorful lights on their houses and in their yards, decorates with all sorts of festive ornaments, and builds all sorts of strange and wonderful snowmen.

At night, snowflakes danced in the air, and the sparkling residential area seemed to transform into a fairytale town.

Meanwhile, Hawking was sitting on the sofa in the living room with Wanda's family, drinking hot soup cooked by Elena and watching TV while chatting about everyday things.

"Ding-dong!"

Just as the family was laughing heartily at the sitcom on TV, the doorbell suddenly rang.

"I'll go take a look!"

Pietro activated his ability and flashed to the door in less than a second, having already moved from the sofa to the door and opened it.

Before him stood a one-eyed, bald, burly black man wearing a black leather coat and an eye patch.

"Who are you?"

"Excuse me, I'm looking for Stephen Hawking. Is he here?"

"This is truly a rare guest!"

Upon hearing the sound, Hawking got up and went to the door. When he saw that it was Nick Fury, he couldn't help but raise an eyebrow.

He met Magneto just last night, and Nick Fury showed up today. Could he be up to no good?

Probably not. He didn't sense anyone else nearby. If Nick Fury were looking for trouble, he wouldn't have come alone.

"Is Hawking your friend? It's so cold outside, and it's snowing. Please invite him in for some hot soup and a seat so you can talk!"

Realizing that the newcomers might know Hawking, Oleg and Elena quickly got up to greet them.

They didn't know that Hawking was the CEO of League of Legends International, but they had heard Wanda and Pietro say that Hawking, because of his outstanding abilities, often helped professors at the university with matters related to mutants.

So when Magneto and Mystique came to see Hawking that day, they didn't ask him anything after they learned he was a mutant.

Upon hearing this, Nick Fury also lifted his foot to enter the house, but Hawking stopped him with a wave of his hand. He didn't want his family to have too much contact with Nick Fury.

He turned to Oleg and Alina and smiled gently:

"My friend doesn't like soup, is rather reclusive, doesn't like crowds, and is extremely resistant to the cold. We can chat outside, you guys watch TV."

After saying that, he winked at Nick Fury and then walked out.

Nick Fury shrugged and followed.

"Let's talk in my car!"

"I heard from the professor that Director Fury is always extremely busy, dealing with very important matters. Why would he suddenly come to see a little mutant student like me? I wonder what he wants?"

Sitting in Nick Fury's black van, Hawking spoke first, tentatively probing the conversation.

In fact, the last time he met Nick Fury was during that big battle a few years ago. It was Professor X who contacted Nick Fury about some international matters related to League of Legends.

"Mr. Hawking is joking. You are not only a student at the mutant school, but also the founder of the now famous League of Legends International, and are known as a superhero comparable to Superman in comics."

Nick Fury also had a smile on his face.

Hawking quickly waved his hand, appearing humble:

"It's just gathering some like-minded friends to do some good deeds; it can't compare to S.H.I.E.L.D., which is dedicated to maintaining world peace."

He wasn't surprised that Nick Fury knew these things, after all, Professor X had asked Nick Fury to help solve many things in the company, also to let Nick Fury know that the company belonged to Hawking, not to the mutant school.

Nick Fury looked at Hawking, paused for a moment, and said:

"Alright then, I won't beat around the bush with you."

My purpose in coming to you is simple: I want you to do me a favor tomorrow.

In return, I will take full responsibility for resolving all future government-related problems your company may encounter.

He has never diminished his attention to Hawking, and has secretly sent trusted people to investigate and collect relevant intelligence, making detailed and professional assessments from all aspects.

First and foremost, it is certain that Hawking possessed a kind heart; otherwise, he could not have persisted in fighting crime and led others in doing so.

At the same time, they are not rigid and know how to use this to make money to do what they want to do and solve everyone's worries.

Secondly, despite his young age, he is very experienced and meticulous in his work, making him quite difficult to deal with. Over the years, he has resolved all attempts to cause trouble for his company using various methods.

Finally, he wasn't a completely positive person; he also had a lot of blood on his hands.

Therefore, playing tricks on someone like Hawking won't work; it will only lead to a breakdown in negotiations. Using moral blackmail, like with Professor X, also won't work.

The best approach is to be honest, use overt strategies, and conduct transactions based on tangible benefits.

Sure enough, Hawking became interested upon hearing Nick Fury's words.

"Tell me what kind of help I can offer. With my small frame, I can only help with small things, not anything too big."

Although the company now cooperates with the government, which makes many things easier, it is still subject to many constraints.

Just as their activities are confined to New York, once they leave New York, they are not allowed to freely use their abilities to fight criminals.

There are also many other limitations in terms of details.

Nick Fury couldn't possibly allow League of Legends, a company clearly closely linked to the mutant school, to develop so smoothly. He couldn't refuse Professor X's request, but he also wouldn't go all out.

If Nick Fury is willing to fully assist in the future, the company's development speed will definitely accelerate significantly.

So, if the favor isn't too difficult, he doesn't mind helping.

There are no permanent friends or permanent enemies in this world, only permanent interests.

He personally agrees with this statement.

Even if it's a blood feud that wiped out your entire clan, if your enemy can help you revive your whole clan, then you can temporarily become friends for that reason.

Besides, he and Nick Fury didn't have any major grudges; they were practically allies.

Nick Fury smiled:

"It's nothing to you, except that someone might try to assassinate me tomorrow, and I need you to protect me in secret."

And those people's strength is nothing to you.

"Chief Fury, you're not kidding, are you?"

Upon hearing Nick Fury's words, Hawking narrowed his eyes.

It's ridiculous that the director of S.H.I.E.L.D. would ask someone he'd only met once to protect him.

Putting aside Captain Marvel, who can blow up Kree warships, top agents like Black Widow, Hawkeye, and May are not people that ordinary people can deal with.

Taking another step back, one could ask Professor X and the X-Men, with whom one often collaborates, for help; it's hardly his turn to ask.
