Thanos and he have no grudges against each other, at least not yet.

He came to deal with Thanos originally for the sake of justice, but now he's doing it to fulfill a promise.

So in the end, he spared Thanos's life; whether to kill him or imprison him was left for Gamora and the others to decide.

This all started with the Anti-Helix race.
