Chapter 368 A loving father and a filial son
"This is my power, how could it be?"
Ego, who could sleep peacefully because of the Mantis, seemed to sense something and suddenly woke up from his slumber.
He awoke in the universe millions of years ago, and gradually learned to use his divine power, which evolved into the planet Igor we know today.
As time went by, he became wiser and more powerful. He began to search for the true meaning of his existence and used his powerful abilities to create physical clones to travel the universe.
He would plant a seed on each planet, and then combine it with the intelligent life on that planet to create offspring.
He needs a child to inherit his power so that the seeds on each planet can sprout, turning that planet into his own clone, and thus ruling the entire universe.
Unfortunately, none of those many children inherited his divine power.
However, today, he suddenly felt a force of the same origin as himself approaching him, which made him ecstatic.
"Inside that spaceship!"
Upon waking, he quickly located the source of the power: a spaceship heading towards him.
"Could it be that I still have children who survived and haven't been found?"
Creating a human clone within his own temple, Ego called upon Mantis and they swiftly flew towards the location where the spaceship was about to land.
Before long, he saw a group of people dressed in raider outfits emerge from the spaceship.
Within the body of the leading man, there was a divine power of the same origin as his own.
"Hello, do you know someone named Ego? I am his son, Peter Quill, from Earth."
Star-Lord stepped out of the spaceship and saw a man and a woman standing there. Remembering what Hawking had said, he hid his hatred and immediately pretended to be polite as he stepped forward to ask.
Ego looked Star-Lord up and down, and immediately understood.
He does have a child on Earth, and the woman on Earth is the only woman he truly fell in love with, a woman who almost shook his beliefs.
Twenty years ago, he hired a raider named Yondu to go to various planets to bring his children back.
Peter Quill on Earth was the last one. Yondu told him that Peter Quill had died in an accident, and he didn't doubt it at the time.
After all, many other planets have perished due to various accidents in the past.
The key issue is that none of the many children before him inherited his power, so he has given up hope on this matter.
In retrospect, Yondu lied to him.
"My child, I am Igor, your biological father! I'm so glad to see you alive!"
Ego hugged Star-Lord tightly, his face full of excitement.
He wasn't excited because he had a son, but because his plan to rule the universe was finally about to be realized.
"What?! You're actually my father! Father, I've missed you so much!"
Upon hearing this, Star-Lord roared loudly, his expression even more excited than Ego's, but neither of them shed a single tear.
"What a loving father and filial son!"
Hawking and the others looked at the rather flamboyant father and son and sighed inwardly, but they all put quotation marks around "filial piety and loving fatherhood".
After exchanging pleasantries and sharing their feigned lovesickness, everyone flew "happily" to the temple of Igor.
Afterwards, Igor recounted his evolutionary history to everyone inside the temple.
"I want to talk to my child alone."
"Mantis, let's take a walk around the temple area and enjoy the beautiful scenery."
After introducing himself, Igor gave instructions to the Mantis woman beside him.
Hawking nodded to Star-Lord, then led the group away from the temple with Mantis.
"The scenery is quite nice!"
Strolling outside the temple and admiring the scenery of Ego, Hawking couldn't help but let out a sigh.
Ego has traveled to almost every planet in the universe with intelligent life, so he has naturally seen the most unique and beautiful scenery of each planet, in addition to his ability to create everything.
So he easily replicated those landscapes on his own planet.
"What do you think that antenna on her head is for?"
While Mantis was introducing the surrounding scenery, Drax had already made a bet with Rockets.
"I guess if she goes through a low doorway, her antennae can sense it, so she won't get touched."
"I bet it isn't. If you lose, sneak away from Peter while he's taking a bath. I think that would be a lot of fun."
Rocket replied cheekily.
Drax immediately agreed, then stepped forward and asked Mantis:
"What are those antennae on your head for? We made a bet."
Ignoring Drax and the others' laughter and commotion, Hawking carefully released his mental energy, slowly penetrating the ground to begin exploring the entire planet Ego.
He had only vaguely sensed it from outside space, but it wasn't until he set foot on this planet that he was able to properly assess Ego's strength.
"It's a tremendous power, but soon it will belong to me."
After some investigation, he gradually came to a conclusion.
"Actually, there's something I need to tell you."
After spending half a day with them, Mandis found that everyone in front of him was very nice, especially Drax.
Despite Drax saying she was ugly, he was still willing to be friends with her, and Drax was really funny.
Therefore, she did not want to see this group of people eventually killed by Igor and turned into nourishment.
"Mantis, it's getting late, and we're hungry. Could you take us to eat first?"
However, at this moment, Hawking suddenly stepped forward and interrupted Mantis, causing Mantis, who had finally mustered the courage to disobey Ego's orders, to lose his nerve again.
Star-Lord doesn't intend to break with Ego so quickly before Ego has fully unlocked and mastered his Celestial powers.
That's why he deliberately interrupted Mandis to tell the truth; otherwise, he would have erased Drax's memory again.
After all, given Drax's personality, once he knows the truth, he definitely won't be able to hide it from Igor.
"Alright, I'll take you to eat first."
Led by the Mantis Woman, the group returned to the temple's dining room, where she served them all sorts of strange and wonderful fruits.
"I am the only living creature here, but there are many delicious fruits; you can try them."
According to Mantis, Ego dislikes having living creatures on his body, just as a dog dislikes having fleas on its body. She was kept by Ego because she was valuable.
Therefore, there are no animals on the entire planet Ego, so there is no way to make any delicious food.
Fortunately, there are various unique fruit trees from other planets that Ego created here, so she can eat fruit to fill her stomach, which has always been her food.
