Chapter 24 Saiyan Great Ape VS Captain Marvel

Chapter 24 Saiyan Great Ape VS Captain Marvel

"Get the hell out of my way!"

Captain Marvel, who had been relentlessly attacked by Hawking's Great Ape form and was now deep underground, finally erupted in fury.

She unleashed all the energy within her body, breaking through Hawking's suppression in one fell swoop, and punched Hawking away while enduring the energy pillar.

"roar!"

Attacked, Hawking became even angrier, and his instincts overwhelmed even his last shred of rationality.

He unleashed a barrage of energy blasts at Captain Marvel, and then leaped into the air once more to launch another attack.

The two sides fought back and forth, and the battle was so fierce that it was earth-shattering.

Overall, Captain Marvel still had the upper hand because she could fly and was small, making it easy for her to dodge Hawking's attacks and less likely to be hit.

However, Hawking's body was so large after transforming into a giant ape that his movements inevitably became slower, leaving many openings in his attacks.

But Hawking's destructive power was terrifying. In his giant ape form, he seemed to have no energy limitations, firing energy cannons from his mouth one after another without any effort.

The key is that he himself is also tough and resilient, so although Captain Marvel's attacks hurt him a lot, they could not kill him.

Of course, it's also possible that Captain Marvel knew he was still a child and couldn't bring herself to kill him, since she's not as cunning as Nick Fury.

Most importantly, Captain Marvel also had to consider the safety of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the others.

Although the two are now fighting at a considerable distance from the initial snowfield, Hawking's energy cannons still occasionally and accidentally hit that area.

If she hadn't blocked it, that shot could have killed all the S.H.I.E.L.D. members except for Captain Carter.

To be honest, if Hawking hadn't been practically out of his mind at that point, he could have easily overwhelmed Captain Marvel by unleashing his energy blasts at Nick Fury and his crew.

"Oh, damn it, Hawking, I'm never calling you 'little monkey' again!"

Seeing the savage Hawking in his Great Ape form, Wolverine led Professor X and the others to quickly retreat in the direction where the X-Flyer was parked.

Before setting off, he had heard Storm mention that Hawking could unleash his abilities twice. If it got out of control, Nightcrawler would teleport him to cut off Hawking's tail.

At the time, he didn't really think much of it, believing that Hawking might be making a mountain out of a molehill.

Now he realized that it was not an overreaction at all. In his giant ape form, Hawking could slap the ground so hard that it would crack, and the energy cannons he shot from his mouth were terrifyingly powerful.

Ever since Hawking transformed into a giant ape and fought Captain Marvel, they have been unable to continue the battle.

The earth was trembling and collapsing. The energy cannons that Hawking occasionally fired near them created huge craters, and the aftershocks alone made it difficult for them to stand.

If the shot hits the dam and it breaches, all of them standing here will be swept away.

It's fortunate that Stryker's base is very far from the city, built on a desolate mountain and lake area; otherwise, it would be a major disaster.

Nick Fury, on the other side, clearly realized this as well. He stopped arguing with Professor X and the others, and while cursing, he led all the agents to retreat to their vehicle's docking point.

According to his original plan, he could have taken down Magneto and Professor X with minimal effort.

Unexpectedly, among Professor X's students was Stephen Hawking, a mutant of catastrophic magnitude who could transform into a giant ape and hold off Captain Marvel.

If he continues to sabotage things like this, even if he wins in the end, he will be in a lot of trouble afterwards.

The X-Force and S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Quinjet took off almost simultaneously, but instead of leaving, they hovered above Captain Marvel and Stephen Hawking, observing the battle below.

If Captain Marvel wins, given her speed, if the X-Force doesn't escape now, it probably won't be able to escape soon.

If Hawking wins, S.H.I.E.L.D.'s capture operation will only be considered half successful, and the X-Men can escape smoothly.

However, in the current situation, Captain Marvel clearly has the upper hand.

"Professor, what do we do now?"

On the X-Force, Storm piloted the fighter jet and looked at Professor X.

Hawking has now transformed into a giant ape and lost his mind, and it's unknown how long he can maintain this state. Whether they wait or flee, whether they should cut off Hawking's tail to restore him to normal, or whether they should launch an attack to assist Hawking in the battle, these are all decisions that Professor X must make.

"Let's see if we can get through to the other end of the signal. I need to talk to the director of S.H.I.E.L.D."

Professor X pondered for a moment and replied to Storm.

Cutting off Hawking's tail now is definitely not an option, and he can't just abandon him and run away. Assisting in the attack is even less advisable, because S.H.I.E.L.D. would definitely do the same.

So he wanted to try to reach an agreement through negotiation. The situation was different now than before; at least it was a close contest.

Under Storm's control, they quickly established a connection with the Quinjet from S.H.I.E.L.D. on the other side.

"Director Fury, if we continue fighting like this, we'll only end up hurting each other. Do you really want mutants and humans to go to war?"

Moreover, if this fighting continues, it's hard to guarantee they won't reach the cities, and I think neither side wants that outcome.

The other side is unaware that Hawking's bursts of ability have a limited duration, nor are they aware of his weaknesses; this is their advantage in negotiations.

After a moment of silence, Nick Fury replied:

"I don't want to start a war with mutants, I just want to find out the truth. It's because you guys aren't cooperating that things have come to this."

At this point, he was in a difficult position.

As the battle between Hawking and Captain Marvel escalated, several hilltops in the Rocky Mountains were blasted to the ground, and the forests were riddled with craters. It was hard to imagine how terrible the consequences would be if the fighting continued.

But he was unwilling to give up just like that.

"Alright, Director Fury, once I return to New York, I will bring Colonel Stryker and all the evidence to your S.H.I.E.L.D. for investigation. For now, please spare my students."

Professor X offered a way out, and Nick Fury was willing to take that step.

His goal is to control the mutant threat and turn it into his own power to deal with powerful alien civilizations beyond Earth in the future.

It's not really about fighting mutants to the death.

Although the current result is not satisfactory, it is still acceptable. At least Magneto, who is anti-human, has been captured, and we can continue to talk to Professor X, a mutant who is close to humans, later.

However, just as he was about to agree to Professor X's proposal, the battlefield changed.

Hawking, in his giant ape form, suddenly shuddered and began to shrink rapidly, reverting to his child-like appearance.

"Professor Charles, I think it would be better if you came with me to S.H.I.E.L.D. for questioning now!"

The shift in the battlefield completely tilted the situation in S.H.I.E.L.D.'s favor, and Nick Fury naturally no longer agreed to Professor X's proposal.
