I, Uchiha: Split Konoha

Chapter 51 Pharmacist Nonou

Chapter 51 Pharmacist Nonou

A private orphanage on the edge of the village.

Under the bright sunshine, happy and excited children were everywhere, their smiles joyful. But a boy with round glasses, who witnessed this scene, had a complex look in his eyes.

"Thank you for your sponsorship of the orphanage."

Wearing a white headscarf and dressed as a nun, Yakushi Nonou wore a sincere, gentle, and grateful smile. Looking at the woman before her, radiating maternal love, Uchiha Yoru smiled and waved, saying, "We represent Orochimaru-sensei; you're too kind."

"Orochimaru-sensei was unable to come due to his heavy workload, so he specifically instructed me to come in person. Please don't be shy, Director. If the orphanage is short of food or clothing, you can come to the Seventh Division of the Police Department to find me."

Both men wore fake smiles, but neither could tell that the Seventh Division of the Police Department had come to offer their condolences on behalf of Orochimaru, accompanied by two squad members.

Uchiha Yoru and Yakushi Nono walked toward the orphanage's living room while chatting and laughing. Outside, the sounds of orphans playing and laughing could be heard everywhere. However, Yakushi Kabuto, who was secretly distributing food to the orphans with a fake smile, was secretly watching Uchiha Yoru who followed the director in, and no one knew what he was thinking.

Dean's Office.

"Sir, please have some tea."

Beneath Yakushi Nonou's maternal and gentle smile, no one would guess that the woman before them was actually Konoha's most famous spy, and the legendary spy ninja of the ninja world, the "Walking Shrine Maiden."

"Dean, you're too kind."

Uchiha Yoru had gotten used to his current position and the fake political smile on his face. Looking at the figure in front of him, he squinted and gently placed the teacup in his hand to the side.

"What else does the orphanage lack? Although a large amount of funding is impossible, there is still enough food to feed the orphanage."

Just as Yakushi Nonou was about to express his gratitude, Uchiha Yoru's next words, spoken with narrowed eyes, sent a shiver down his spine.

"After all, you're worthy of that price, aren't you! Walking priestess!"

The air seemed heavy with just one sentence, yet Yakushi Nonou looked completely bewildered, as if she hadn't understood at all.

"grown ups?"

Yakushi Nono, who showed no flaw whatsoever, smiled and gently shook her head, saying, "Director, the police department will guarantee the orphanage's food, clothing, shelter, and transportation from now on. I can't say we'll be well-fed and clothed, but we will definitely not let anyone starve to death. You should understand this better than anyone else, Director."

After this direct confrontation, Yakushi Nonou, as expected of Konoha's most outstanding spy, showed no emotion whatsoever. Uchiha Yoru, however, waved his hand and rubbed his temples. He didn't want to pretend in front of some people anymore; it was too tiring.

"My teacher is Orochimaru, the vice-captain of Root. Headmaster, all your pretenses are meaningless in front of me."

After the directness was revealed, a cold glint flashed in Yakushi Nonou's eyes, but her smile remained unchanged. She slowly picked up her teacup and took a small sip. Neither of them spoke for a long while before she finally asked, "What does Your Excellency wish for?"

Although he still wore a friendly smile, his face had lost some of its warmth and gained some wariness. Meanwhile, Uchiha Yoru looked out the window at the children playing outside, a rare hint of relaxation in his eyes.

"Nonou, don't worry, I'm not a member of Root. While the existence of Root is inevitable, I don't like treating my own people this way."

Looking out the window, he smiled with relief. "The police department will provide your orphanage with a monthly food allowance. The requirements are very simple, so don't worry. Although it will require your orphanage children to do chores, the chores will be completely different."

After the disguise was completely torn off, Yakushi Nonou was filled with tension. Now, her biggest worry was these children, and she didn't believe a word the other party said.

"Orochimaru-sensei visits the orphanage, always keeping the village in mind. Director, you said that Orochimaru-sensei has been keeping a low profile these days, and it seems like we haven't heard his voice in the village for a long time."

The words he muttered to himself immediately made the Pharmacist Nonoyu frown. She was no ordinary person, so she naturally understood what he meant.

"I'll leave Orochimaru-sensei's good deed to the director. Also, if any children from the orphanage are qualified to enter the Ninja Academy in the future, the police department will provide assistance. Of course, you don't need to worry, the reward is also very simple, after all, all of this is for Orochimaru-sensei."

Since there was no conflict of interest with Yakushi Nonou, and in fact, Nonou needed his assistance more, Uchiha Yoru was a bit more casual about it, since he had already grasped Nonou's weakness.

Upon hearing this, Yakushi Nonou frowned, a serious expression creeping onto her face. She still harbored some doubts. "Is this really all we need?"

Yakushi Nonou isn't stupid. People say that Lord Orochimaru keeps a low profile, but now it seems that there's a force in Konoha quietly silencing the voices of the Sannin. What they need is for the students from their orphanage to spread Orochimaru's reputation. Isn't that going against the village's wishes?

As for concerns? Yakushi Nonou's intelligence instantly brought up a point: the Seventh Division of the Police Department. As long as the other side exists, there will always be people speaking up for Orochimaru. The orphanage is just a small place.

Seeing the suspicion in Yakushi Nonou's eyes, Uchiha Yoru immediately smiled and said, "Orochimaru-sensei praised the Walking Shrine Maiden highly, so the Dean is truly a priceless treasure."

"They're after me?" Yakushi Nonou's expression immediately turned serious. She calmly looked at the other person, knowing that as the most outstanding spy, a strong heart was the most important thing.

While the two were talking in the office, a glint flashed in the eyes of Kabuto Yakushi, who was smiling and playing with a child under a big tree outside the window. Although he couldn't hear anything through their eyes, he could understand what they were talking about through lip reading. From initial worry to later relief, his expression suddenly changed and he became serious.

Uchiha Yoru's eyes, which were not easily seen, flashed across the window from inside the office. He had naturally noticed Yakushi Kabuto secretly observing him under the big tree outside, but it was intentional.

"The dean's medical ninjutsu is outstanding. The police department is willing to hire the dean to spend some time each month to guide the police logistics department in medical ninjutsu."

At this point, Uchiha Yoru suddenly glanced at Yakushi Kabuto outside, who was playing with children, and a smile appeared on his lips. "By the way, Dean, does that child look familiar?"
