Chapter 79 Valentine's Day Farce

All day long, the little gnomes disguised as Cupids wandered around the castle, delivering Valentine's Day cards and driving everyone crazy.

They don't care about the occasion and freely enter and exit various places. After delivering greeting cards, they will rudely force the recipients to listen to their harsh and clumsy singing.

The end result was that the recipient of the greeting card was embarrassed, the onlookers suffered a huge psychological blow, and even the dwarves themselves didn't like the job.

Unfortunately, Lockhart gave too much.

Ike and the others stayed in their dorm room all morning, and only went out for lunch when they couldn't stand it anymore.

On the way from the Ravenclaw common room to the Great Hall, Ike heard many commotions caused by greeting cards. For example, a couple from fourth-year Hufflepuff, who were originally very much in love, had a big fight over a greeting card.

"Forty-six greeting cards? I bet forty of them were sent to himself! Believe me, he's capable of doing something like that!"

Stewart, the leader of the anti-fans, was shoved by a dwarf hurrying by and said angrily.

“That’s definitely his style,” Terry chimed in, also getting a push. “I heard he did something even more outrageous when he was in school. One year, around Christmas, he sent himself eight hundred Valentine’s Day cards! Breakfast was even canceled that day because so many owls were delivering cards and they made a mess of the Great Hall!”

Ike didn't respond; in fact, he couldn't get a word in edgewise when it came to criticizing Lockhart. Stuart and Terry, on the other hand, seemed to thoroughly enjoy the topic, able to go on for hours without repeating themselves. Whether it was true or fabricated, even if it involved someone else's misdeeds, the two of them would pin it all on Lockhart.

It's best not to interrupt them when they're talking enthusiastically. Once you get involved, whether you agree or disagree, it can greatly inspire their creative inspiration, and they can easily talk for several more hours.

Silently following behind the two, listening to their crosstalk performance, I slowly walked towards the auditorium. Just as I reached the first floor, I saw a chaotic scene in the corridor ahead.

The leader of the haters' eyes lit up; besides hating Lockhart, joining in the fun was also one of Stewart's hobbies. He and Terry grabbed Ike on either side and ran forward.

Squeezing through the crowd, I saw Harry struggling with a little dwarf. The dwarf was holding a harp in one hand and gripping Harry's schoolbag tightly with the other. Harry seemed to be trying to run, clutching the other end of the schoolbag.

"Let me go!"

"Don't go! It's right here!"

The cloth backpack couldn't withstand the tug-of-war between two people. With a loud tearing sound, Harry's backpack was ripped in two, scattering his books, wand, parchment, and quill all over the floor. The ink bottle landed on top, making everything dirty.

Harry frantically grabbed whatever was on the ground, hastily wrapped it with half of his backpack, and tucked it into his arms, ready to run. But as soon as he looked up, he saw a crowd of onlookers and was taken aback.

Just then, the dwarf pounced on Harry, throwing him to the ground. He plopped down on Harry's lap and gave Harry's head a nudge to make him lie still.

"Alright, listen carefully, this is your Valentine's Day card with a song:"

His eyes were as green as freshly pickled toads.

His hair was as black and elegant as a blackboard.

I hope he's mine; he's really handsome.

He is the warrior who conquered the dark lord!

"Hahaha..." Just as Harry was embarrassed and wanted to find a crack in the ground to crawl into, his nemesis Malfoy, along with Clark and Goyle, squeezed in and, by sheer coincidence, overheard this string of awful songs.

"Potter!" Malfoy clapped his hands, a mocking smile on his face. "Oh! Handsome Potter! The hero who conquered the Dark Lord!"

"Get out of the way, Malfoy!" Ron rushed out of the crowd and shoved Malfoy, who was still trying to move forward. Hermione followed closely behind, pulling the little man off Harry's knees and helping Harry up, whose legs were a bit numb.

"Oh, let me see who's here?" Malfoy wasn't afraid at all when facing only Harry and his two companions, and he looked them over with a strange gaze.

Suddenly, his eyes lit up, and he pointed to Ginny, who looked a little nervous in the crowd, and said, "Little girl, you sent Potter's greeting card, didn't you?"

"Tsk tsk, I have to say... it's really badly written!"

Malfoy's words drew the attention of the surrounding onlookers, and Ginny's face immediately turned red. She lowered her head, turned, and slipped out of the crowd. Hermione, seeing this, disregarded Harry's still-numb legs and immediately chased after her.

Ron was furious; Ginny was the apple of the Weasley family's eye! He immediately drew his wand, which was bound with magical tape, pointed it at Malfoy, and shouted, "Malfoy! You'll pay for this!"

"What price? With your broken wand?" Malfoy also pulled out his wand and pointed it at Ron, his eyes fierce, which intimidated Ron.

He knew very well what was going on with his broken wand; it was only good for bluffing. Who knew what would happen if he actually used it to cast a spell?

Ron held back, but Harry couldn't. He was already seething with anger because of what the dwarves had done, and Malfoy's provocation made him lose his temper.

"Expelliarmus!" Harry shouted, drawing his wand. Malfoy was immediately struck by a red light, his wand flying from his hand towards Harry. Harry seemed to think even touching Malfoy's wand was dirty, and with a flick of his left hand, he knocked the wand aside.

"What are you doing!" Just as Malfoy was about to rush up and punch Harry, a female voice rang out from outside the crowd. Immediately, a witch with the Gryffindor crest embroidered on her clothes walked in; she was the Gryffindor prefect.

"Using magic in the hallway is strictly forbidden! I'll tell the professor!"

"Now everyone disperse and go do what you were doing!"

Malfoy glared at Harry again, picked up his wand that had fallen to the side, and led Clark and Goyle away. Ron and Harry breathed a sigh of relief, put away their wands, tidied up the things on the ground, and left as well.

With the main figures gone, the onlookers had nothing left to glean and dispersed.

Before Ike, Stuart, and the others had gone far, Roger rushed over and asked the Gryffindor prefect, "Mitch, how did it go? Was it resolved?"

"It's resolved." Miki nodded, looking relieved. "These kids are getting harder and harder to manage; they cause trouble if you're not careful."

"It'll be fine in a little while," Roger reassured him. "I heard Professor Sprout's mandrake is almost ripe, and Percy will be back soon."

"You'll be able to relax when he comes back."

"Yeah, you'll be able to relax when Penelope comes back." Miki rolled her eyes at Roger, but Roger didn't seem to mind and instead grinned and moved closer.

Watching this scene, Ike seemed to be deep in thought: These two probably have some kind of secret relationship...

Suddenly it occurred to me that Percy and Penelope were a couple, and Roger and this Gryffindor prefect named Mickey seemed to be a couple as well.

So, the prefects of Gryphon and Hawk are actually the official couple?
