Chapter 70 Life-Extending Potion

Chapter 70 Life-Extending Potion

"Bang, bang, bang"

"Come in!"

Pushing open Snape's office door, Ike immediately saw the Potions professor sitting at his desk grading papers.

Although the young wizards generally disliked Snape, it cannot be denied that he was indeed very good at teaching and was very serious about grading homework.

Of course, it would be even better to ignore his annotations.

"Is your head a gimmick? The answer is on page 374, line 8 of your textbook!"

Ike leaned closer and saw Snape finish writing this line of text, and then write a big D.

This is entirely in line with his usual style.

"Mr. Stradl, if you keep looking at this, I might leave your eyeballs stuck here forever." Professor Snape didn't even look up, flipped to the next assignment, glanced at it from top to bottom, and wrote a vicious comment.

"Professor Snape, I just have a few things I'd like to ask you," Ike replied. "I heard that your private collection was stolen?"

Setting down his quill, Professor Snape looked at Ike with his cold eyes and said, enunciating each word clearly, "So, our great Mr. Strayder knows who that shameful thief is? Should I give Ravenclaw some credit?"

"Of course, Professor." Ike didn't shy away from Snape's gaze, his tone flat. "It's that person whose name I can't reveal."

"Hmph!" Snape clearly didn't believe Ike's explanation and immediately retorted, "The Dark Lord? So you think the Dark Lord released the monster from the Chamber of Secrets and caused the attack?"

"Yes, Professor Snape."

Ike nodded, while Snape gave a sarcastic look and replied sarcastically, "I thought you were so smart, being able to outmaneuver the Dark Lord. Now it seems you're no different from any other fool I see."

"As far as I know, your great teacher is now barely clinging to life in the forests of Albania!"

"I'm not talking about that poor wretch waiting to be saved by his loyal servant." Ike shook his head, summoned a chair with a wave of his left hand, leaned forward slightly, and asked softly, "Professor Snape, do you know about Horcruxes?"

"Hordeals..." Professor Snape remained as cold as ever, but Ike could clearly see that his hand trembled.

Ike smiled, took the charred notebook out of his robe, placed it on the table, and pushed it forward a bit.

"I found this notebook about two weeks ago."

"It's amazing that it can talk to me and even wants to teach me some magic."

Gently turn the cover page and point to the name that is still faintly visible.

"After that, something happened. I got into a fight with the guy in this diary, and that's how I accidentally made this thing like this."

"Professor Snape, the only thing I can think of that can hold a person's soul and allow them to retain some of their memories and spellcasting abilities is a Horcrux."

"Besides, it belongs to..."

"Tom Marvolo Riddle..." Snape murmured the name on the title page, then took out his wand and tapped it on the notebook.

Ike shook his head: "It's ruined, Professor."

"Mr. Strayder!" Snape stood up, flicked his robes, and tucked away his notebook. "Do you know what you've done?"

“Of course, Professor,” Ike nodded. “I’ve discovered the secret to why the Dark Lord cannot be killed.”

Ike could clearly see the excitement and anger in Snape's eyes. He knew very well that the only reason this man was still alive after that night twelve years ago was to kill the Dark Lord.

Now that he knows the answer, even as one of the most outstanding brain-sealing surgeons of our time, he still cannot completely hide his emotions.

"You shouldn't have told me, Ike..." Snape waved his wand, and a beam of white light shot into the fireplace and disappeared. "Dumbledore needs to know this."

"Of course, the headmaster will know," Ike replied. "However, the guy inside wasn't killed; he escaped..."

"What!" Professor Snape's pupils contracted, and he was taken aback. He then turned around, pushed open the door to his private collection room, and strode inside.

"Keep up, Ike!"

Upon entering Snape's private collection room, Ike was shocked. The first thing that caught his eye was an adult Ukrainian corpse with an iron belly, suspended in mid-air, its grotesque appearance utterly terrifying.

The walls were lined with cabinets filled with glass jars of all sizes, each containing the corpses of fantastical creatures of all shapes and sizes. Unicorn heads, complete Invisible Beasts, takins, harpies—everything described in *Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them* was here, as well as some not mentioned. If it weren't for the herbs, it wouldn't look like a storage room for potion ingredients at all.

Professor Snape stood beneath the Ukrainian Iron Belly, raised his wand in his right hand, and swung it around in the air several times. The surrounding cabinets opened, the materials inside moved, and then numbers glowing red appeared one by one.

After comparing them one by one, Professor Snape waved his wand again, and everything returned to normal.

"Mr. Strayed, what do the horn of a two-horned beast, the skin of an African tree snake, the blood of a unicorn, half a dragon's heart, a pint of dragon blood, and two pints of venom from a viper remind you of?"

"Professor, does the blood of a dead unicorn also have the ability to prolong a person's life?"

Professor Snape, with a look of disdain, replied, "Whether the unicorn is alive or dead, drinking its blood will prolong life."

"Mr. Stradl, I didn't expect you to be so ignorant about something so simple."

"Yes, Professor, I don't know," Ike said frankly. "That's why I need your help, isn't it?"

Snape snorted and, with a flick of his black robe, led the way out of the collection room, with Ike following closely behind.

Back in the office, the two sat facing each other.

Snape hid his hands in his wide sleeves, and his cold expression returned.

"Mr. Streid, is there anything else you need to tell me?"

"No, Professor." Ike shook his head, then asked, "Do you know what he's going to do with these materials?"

Snape nodded and said in his unchanging tone, "You already know what unicorn blood is used for. Dragon heart and dragon blood, due to the characteristics of dragons, enhance the physique of wizards. Of course, this is only the most basic application."

"If you add snake venom, toad skin, centipede bones, spider silk, scorpion shells, pufferfish eyes, and avian eggs, and then boil them together, you'll get a powerful potion..."

"Drinking this potion can prolong a person's life, so it is called the life-extending potion."

"Of course, the life-extending potion is not as powerful as the elixir of immortality. It can only extend life by a year at most, and it only works the first time it is taken."

"The development of this potion is very complicated and will take several months."

"So, Professor, you mean he won't be taking any further action for the time being?"

Snape nodded.

"Yes, Mr. Streid."
