Magical Studies at Hogwarts...
Chapter 55 Ravenclaw Studies
Chapter 55 Ravenclaw Studies
The Gryffindors, Slytherins, Ravenclaws, and Hufflepuffs founded Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry around 990 AD.
Europe at that time was in the Dark Ages, and the witch hunt was in full swing, with a large number of wizards being persecuted, most of whom were young wizards who could not control their magic.
The establishment of Hogwarts, besides protecting these young wizards, also aimed to ensure the continuation of magic. In the era of the four great wizards, the transmission of magic was primarily through apprenticeship, and not on a large scale. Furthermore, in the prevailing social environment, wizards outside of large families rarely interacted, leading to the loss of many magical techniques.
After establishing Hogwarts, Rowena Ravenclaw dedicated herself to collecting lost magic, hoping to revive the greatness of ancient magic. Unfortunately, by the time she began this work, Europe had been in turmoil for four or five centuries, and a large number of magic books and documents had been burned, leaving her only able to find clues in old papers.
After Slytherin left Hogwarts, she also chose to travel. After exploring countless ruins and visiting countless reclusive wizards, when Ravenclaw finally returned to Hogwarts, she wrote these manuscripts and left them in this room ever since.
Waiting quietly.
As he flipped through these manuscripts, Ike realized for the first time that his "knowledge mastery" skill was not powerful enough; there was a lot of content he simply couldn't understand.
For example, the manuscript mentions a spell to alter celestial phenomena, whose incantation is in ancient runes and needs to be pronounced correctly. However, these runes cannot be found in "A Detailed Explanation of Ancient Runes".
To fully grasp the contents of the manuscript, Ike felt he might need to revisit Ravenclaw's research path from back then.
Only by proceeding step by step can it be possible.
From the 11th century to the present, the magical tradition in Europe has experienced several crises of extinction. With the signing of the International Law of Wizardry Secrecy, coupled with the self-isolation and demise of pure-blood nobles, modern magic is essentially built on ruins. What Ike wants to do is restore those ruins to their original state, a task of unimaginable difficulty.
"We need to revise the plans; we'll be busy..."
Ike put down the manuscript, pushed open the door, and left the secret room.
Ike didn't know how long he stayed inside; it was already dark when he came out. He arrived at the auditorium, where dinner had already been underway for some time.
"Ike! We have lamb chops today!" Stuart's voice rang out, and Ike smiled and greeted him as he sat down to the side.
Terry placed a golden-brown roasted lamb chop on Ike's plate. Ike thanked him, took a small bite, and found it to be very succulent.
"Where have you been? I haven't seen you all afternoon," Stuart asked.
"Where else could he go? The library, of course," Terry replied casually, cutting his steak.
"Seriously?! It's only the beginning of the semester, Ike! You're putting a lot of pressure on us." Michael joked with a laugh.
"What pressure could there be?" Ike put down the lamb chop, poured himself a glass of pumpkin juice, and took a sip. "No matter how hard you guys try, your grades will never surpass mine."
"If you keep going like this... you'll easily end up with no friends, Ike." Stewart was speechless and glared at Ike with an unfriendly expression.
"What? I have friends!" Ike feigned surprise, his eyes widening as he stared at Stewart in astonishment, a look that made everyone burst into laughter.
They ate their meal while joking around, and it wasn't until almost eight o'clock that Ike finished. They returned to the common room, chatted for a while on the sofa, and then, feeling sleepy, went back to their dorm.
For the next week or so, Ike and Stuart were inseparable, just like a normal Hogwarts wizard, going back and forth between the dormitory, classroom, Great Hall, classroom, and dormitory, rarely even going to the library.
But on the first night of October, after Stuart and Terry were fast asleep, Ike, for the first time in a long time, cast the Disillusionment Charm on himself and quietly left the dormitory.
For more than half a month, Ike had been quietly revising his plans. According to his original intention, he did not plan to go out at night too frequently this school year.
Nighttime wanderings are undoubtedly very dangerous until the threat of the basilisk is eliminated.
Who knows if that big guy in the secret room will sneak out on his own, especially now that it's very likely he's already been awakened.
But after looking at those Ravenclaw manuscripts, Ike inexplicably felt a sense of urgency.
It's as if there's not enough time, and everything has to be rushed.
Perhaps it's the curse of knowledge? After witnessing those amazing studies, Ike found it hard to suppress his intense thirst for knowledge.
From this perspective, the Sorting Hat was not wrong; he was indeed a Ravenclaw.
Sneaking quietly into the forbidden book section, Ike first took "Forbidden Magic," which contained the methods for practicing the Unseen Stretch Charm and Apparition. After putting the book away, Ike went straight to the language bookshelf and took four books from top to bottom.
"The Language of Wizards," "The Language of Humankind," "Communicating with Magical Beasts," and "The Language of Magic"—these are the true purposes of Ike's journey!
Ike had never paid much attention to ancient runes, though he often read related books, mostly as supplementary reading. However, Ravenclaw's manuscripts clearly stated the importance of ancient runes, that they were the only way to recreate the greatness of ancient magic.
However, learning ancient runes is very difficult, especially since many of the Ravenclaw manuscripts are not included in modern textbooks, making them very difficult to decipher. Fortunately, Ike found another way.
Learn the language of magical creatures!
Unlike wizards, magical creatures are born with the ability to use magic, and there's even a theory that the earliest magic originated from these magical creatures. Regardless of whether this is true or not, the language of magical creatures certainly possesses magical power.
For example, mermaids, in those mermaid tribes deep in the ocean, still pass down an ancient mermaid language that can trigger tsunamis and storms. This language, imbued with magical properties, is very difficult to pronounce, but in some pronunciations it is very similar to ancient magical script.
Similarly, there are Parseltongue and Dragon Language. Parseltongue has always been considered evil not only because of its chilling pronunciation, but also because it can indeed be used as a spell to invoke magic.
Although Parseltongue is largely inherited, it can also be learned. In Ike's memory, Ron used Parseltongue to open the door to the Chamber of Secrets during the final battle. Even just the word "open" was enough proof.
Learning Parseltongue was placed second in Ike's plan, after learning the Unseen Stretch Charm.
It all stemmed from a spell from Slytherin in the Ravenclaw manuscript that required Parseltongue to activate.
Its function is perception.
The area, with a radius of one mile!
