Chapter 332 The Tragedy of Diagon Alley
Chapter 332 The Tragedy of Diagon Alley (Part 5)
When Ike and Bella arrived at the battlefield, the battle was already mostly over.
The Ministry of Magic hadn't expended much of its resources; nearly a hundred people were still gathered together. In contrast, Voldemort's men had suffered considerable losses.
The werewolves suffered further losses, and some dark wizards also perished, resulting in significantly more casualties than the Ministry of Magic. It's fair to say that the Death Eaters were at a disadvantage in their clash with the core power of the Ministry of Magic.
But they won because old Voldemort's wand was pressed against Scrimgeour's forehead.
Scrimgeour floated uncontrollably in the air, blood dripping from one leg, which appeared to be useless. He tilted his head back, his face still cold, his bloodshot eyes staring fiercely at Voldemort in front of him without blinking.
"Looks like you're quite dissatisfied, Minister." Old Voltaire said softly, pressing his wand against Scrimgeour's forehead with a slight pressure, causing Scrimgeour's body to tremble involuntarily.
"You are destined to fail, Voldemort!" Scrimgeour gritted his teeth, forcing out these words through gritted teeth despite the pain in his body.
"But you won't see it, Minister." Old Voldemort revealed a chilling smile, slightly retracting his wand as he chanted, "Avada Kedavra!"
"Chirp!"
The green light had just shot from the tip of the staff when a ball of red flame suddenly appeared before Scrimgeour's head, swallowing Voldemort's Killing Curse in one gulp. Then, the red light quickly dimmed, and a bird with glossy feathers rapidly went bald, falling straight to the ground. The moment it landed, the flame flashed past, leaving only a handful of ashes.
At the same time, an old man with white hair and beard appeared between Scrimgeour and Voldemort, and suddenly waved his wand, sending a blinding white light straight at Voldemort.
Old Fu quickly took a few steps back and reached out to block the curse. However, in his haste, he was still knocked back by the power of the curse and staggered back several steps before regaining his balance.
Looking up, his face immediately turned ferocious.
"Dumbledore!"
"Hello, Tom." Dumbledore's wand was still pointed at Voldemort, preventing him from making any rash moves. Scrimgeour, who was behind him, was rescued by the Orochi and hastily given to him a healing potion, which barely stopped the bleeding.
But that's all. The leg that was injured by Old Voldemort's magic is still useless, and it looks like it needs to be properly treated at the St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Injuries.
Scrimgeour, supported by his men, stood up, a ferocious look appearing on his usually stern face. He stared intently at Old Voldemort opposite him and shouted, "Kill him, Dumbledore!"
"I'm sorry, I can't do that," Dumbledore's voice rang out. "There's more than just Tom on the other side."
His words drew everyone's attention to the person who seemed to have suddenly appeared next to Voldemort, and everyone tensed up. Perhaps, facing Voldemort alone, Dumbledore could still try to defeat him, but with Ike added to the mix, defeat was inevitable.
Dumbledore is not the same person he was six months ago, and Ike is not the same person he was before the transformation.
"So, is today the final battle, Tom?" Dumbledore asked, looking at Voldemort before him.
"Heh, heh heh..." Voldemort sneered, glancing at Dumbledore, who stood calmly opposite him, while secretly plotting in his heart.
Suddenly! He swung his wand violently, and at the same time, Ike also emitted a beam of white light into the sky. Dumbledore blocked Voldemort's magic, but the others could not stop Ike's spell.
A beam of white light shot straight into the sky and exploded violently at a height of about twenty meters. The next second, it was as if something in the sky had shattered, scattering soft light like a burst bubble.
Without lingering in the garden, Lao Fu transformed into black smoke and flew away. The others were a little slower, but they also soared into the sky.
"Stop them! Don't let them get away!" Scrimgeour shouted, but it was too late. By the time his men reacted, even Ike, the last to leave, had vanished from the spot.
"Damn it!"
Scrimgeour cursed under his breath, glanced at the composed Dumbledore beside him, and his lips twitched involuntarily. Without a word, he shook off the two hands supporting him, staggered around, and shouted to his somewhat bewildered subordinates behind him, "Go back! Let's go back!"
Dumbledore stood there, watching the Ministry of Magic personnel leave one by one, without uttering a single word.
He bent down, picked up Fox, who had been reborn from the ashes, gently teased him with his fingers, and carefully placed him into the pocket on his chest, leaving only his bald head sticking out.
Then, with a wave of his wand and a turn of his body, he vanished from the spot.
When they reappeared, they had arrived at the humble abode.
In the small courtyard in front of the door, everyone was standing there. Seeing Dumbledore appear, Harry immediately asked, "Sir, what happened in Diagon Alley? I just heard Scrimgeour say..."
"Diagon Alley has been attacked," Dumbledore said, glancing at the worried Mrs. Weasley and the eager Sirius Black. "Why don't we go inside and talk?"
"Oh, of course, please come in," Mrs. Weasley replied immediately, welcoming Dumbledore into the house.
Everyone came in, making the already small living room feel even more crowded. Dumbledore accepted the mead offered by Mrs. Weasley and thanked her.
"Thank you, Molly, this is exactly what I needed... In short, Tom and his followers attacked Diagon Alley and practically destroyed the whole street..."
Dumbledore recounted the events that had just transpired in Diagon Alley, eliciting occasional suppressed gasps. In any case, the incident had far exceeded their expectations; no one had imagined Voldemort would do such a thing, and even nearly kill the Minister for Magic!
"...Alright, that's enough for now. I think you'll see more in the Daily Prophet tomorrow." Dumbledore said, standing up. "Although now might not be a good time, I think I still need to speak with Rufus..."
"The situation is more serious than we imagined."
"Won't you stay a little longer, Dumbledore? Another honey wine, please," Mrs. Weasley urged.
"No, Molly, I have to go and visit our minister right away..." With that, Dumbledore opened the door and walked out, disappearing from the spot as soon as he left the Anti-Phantom Movement range.
"We're leaving too." Sirius and Lupin exchanged a glance and stood up. "Thank you for your hospitality, Molly, but you know, the Order of the Phoenix has a lot going on soon."
"Wait, I'll come with you," Mr. Weasley said, picking up his coat from the hanger. "After what's happened, I have to get back right away."
"Arthur... Sirius... Remus..." Mrs. Weasley covered her chest with both hands, as if she had a thousand words to say, but only a simple instruction came out of her mouth.
"Be careful, be safe."
