Chapter 26, Section 26: Finding the Trick

Chapter 26, Twenty-Six: Finding the Trick

With the help of the Stunning Charm, Ike had a good night's sleep in his dorm room, and when he woke up the next day, he was fully recovered.

But the emotional damage is not so easy to heal. Feeling somewhat listless, Ike also did not give Ravenclaw any extra points in class for the first time.

Stuart and the others didn't think much of it, assuming that they were just taking the spell practice with Professor Quirrell too seriously, just like last time.

From this perspective, it's not wrong; the Cruciatus Curse is also a curse, and it's just that Ike was the one being tortured.

After the two lessons, Ike's understanding of dark magic became much clearer, but at the same time, he also had more questions.

This time, however, Ike doesn't intend to seek answers from Quirrell.

In the two lessons, Quirrell taught two Unforgivable Curses in succession. If Ike's prediction was correct, the third week would teach either the Apocalypse Curse or the Fiendfyre Curse. After gaining some understanding of the Unforgivable Curse, Ike felt that the Fiendfyre Curse was more likely.

"Mastering Hellfire" is the title of Quirrell's book.

As the most famous dark magic spell besides the Unforgivable Curse, the Fiendfyre was once considered to be the flames of hell and the devil, possessing the terrifying property of burning everything around it.

Fiendfire is difficult to control, and if the caster loses control, it can even backfire. Moreover, when the Fiendfire spell reaches a certain scale, it will mimic the forms of mythical creatures such as dragons and phoenixes, further enhancing its destructive power and hunting ability.

Theoretically speaking, a single Fiendfyre spell would be enough to destroy the entire British Isles.

This terrible dark magic is not listed among the unforgivable curses because it has a counter-curse.

All curses end, curses stop instantly – the ultimate enhanced version, breaking through the ceiling of curses and perfectly suppressing the Fiery Curse.

No matter how much the Fiery Blaze expands, it can be annihilated by the Myriad Curses.

It's just a matter of adding up the number of people; it's purely a math problem.

The book "Mastering Hellfire" details the issues to be aware of when casting Fiendfire.

"First, the caster must have a strong and unwavering belief in burning everything; second, never relax control over Fiendfire. If the Fiendfire is about to get out of control, immediately use the counter-spell. If it gets out of control, then pray to Merlin..."

"I pray you can escape..."

Subsequently, there were many instances of the Fiendfire Curse going out of control, each time destroying at least a village and causing at least hundreds of casualties.

"So, the ability to control magic is the key?" Ike felt he had found the key. In essence, there was no difference between the Fiendish Flame Curse and the Fire Curse; the only difference was that the former required the wizard to control it and prevent it from going berserk, while the latter required the wizard to enhance its power.

They share the same characteristic: incineration.

Thinking of this, Ike had a new idea:

Since combustion requires oxygen, what would happen if the Fiery Charm and the Flame Charm were used in a place without oxygen?

For example, space...

Quirrell looked at the Fiendfire curled up at the tip of Iker's staff, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes: "Mr. Stradl, I underestimated your talent. I didn't expect you could control such a dangerous Fiendfire to this extent..."

"Then, can you show me your limit?"

Ike nodded, focusing his mind on the Fiendfire at the tip of his staff, and channeling the magic within his body. The Fiendfire immediately expanded, becoming a fireball as tall as a person.

The scorching flames distorted the surrounding air, and Ike gritted his teeth and persevered, his arms trembling involuntarily.

"All curses end!" Quirrell waved his wand, and Ike cut off the magic supply at the right moment. A painful snake shadow flashed in the Fiendfire and then disappeared into the air.

"Very good." Quirrell clapped his hands. "You are already much better than many fourth-graders."

"Thank you for your guidance." Ike nodded slightly, very respectfully.

"You're a student, I'm a professor, this is what I should do." Quirrell summoned two chairs, lifted his robe, and sat down. He placed the other chair directly opposite him, and after Ike sat down, he pondered for a moment, "The Death Curse, the Cruciatus Curse, the Fiendfyre—after learning these three spells, you should have a new understanding of dark magic..."

"Yes, Professor." Ike nodded. "Dark magic is inherently evil."

"That's right, that's right..." Quirrell stared intently at Ike, who didn't look away, but looked back at him sincerely and fervently.

"Mr. Strayed..." After a long silence, Quirrell suddenly spoke, "You're very clever, the smartest little wizard I've ever met..."

"However, you also have a common flaw among intelligent people..."

"You're too confident, too sure of your abilities..."

"I have something to tell you..." Quirrell's voice suddenly became erratic, his body trembled involuntarily, and then he hunched over, his voice becoming weak and feeble.

"Never, never, ever be too confident in your own abilities, Mr. Streid..."

"Now, go back. The class is over. You don't need to come anymore starting next week..."

Quirrell struggled to lift his head and watched Ike leave. The moment the door closed, he suddenly began to gasp for breath, his chest heaving like a bellows, and sweat poured uncontrollably from his body, soon dripping down his face onto the floor.

"Master...Master, I...I can't hold on much longer..." Quirrell was very weak, and even speaking seemed to have exhausted all his strength. He felt as if his heart was slowly stopping.

"waste!"

"You can't even do something this simple!" Voldemort's voice rang out, angry, cold-blooded, and equally weak.

"Master...Master..." Quirrell pleaded in a low voice, and after a long while, his weak voice was heard.

"Go, Quirrell, my servant...you know what to do..."

"Yes... Master..." Quirrell struggled to get up from the ground and sat back in the chair, motionless as if he were dead, with only his right hand holding the wand trembling uncontrollably.

On the other side, Ike, who had walked out blankly, stood in front of Quirrell's office for a while. Although he had a kind smile on his face and seemed to be calm and normal, the veins on his right hand, which was holding the wand, were bulging.

Weiwei glanced back at the office door behind him. Although he still had a smile on his face, Ike's eyes were filled with murderous intent.

And then there was that blood-red, useless notebook system...
