Chapter 254 Mysterious African Magic

Chapter 254 Mysterious African Magic

There are eleven magic schools in the world. Apart from the three in Europe and the one in North America, which are based on a unified system, the others each have their own unique system.

The magic school in Africa is called Waggadu, located in Uganda's Moon Mountain. It is the largest and enjoys a very high reputation in the world, especially in astronomy, alchemy, and transfiguration, where it can be considered a leader.

Because wands were invented in Europe, they weren't introduced to Africa and used by African wizards until the 18th century. Before that, African wizards used hand gestures or hand signals to cast spells. Even now, a large part of the Vagabond curriculum doesn't require the use of wands. It's no exaggeration to say that every wizard who graduates from Vagabond is an outstanding wandless spellcaster.

Their magic differs from the mainstream Western magic systems of today, bearing many traces of ancient Voodoo and incorporating ancient Egyptian curses. Its most prominent characteristic is its eeriness. Often, you might be under their spell simply by seeing them move a finger.

Before coming, Ike had made preparations. It was impossible for this place where Moses parted the sea to be unattended. He just didn't expect it to cause such a big commotion.

Who could have imagined that what might have been a casual strike by Moses thousands of years ago would still have repercussions today?

Even so, the sheer number of these dozen or so adult wizards was quite impressive.

In fact, these dozen or so wizards did not expect Ike to be so arrogant in this situation. His casual "So what?" made their blood pressure rise. Some of the younger ones immediately wanted to teach Ike a lesson.

They were simply stopped by the leader.

The man scrutinized Ike, pondered for a moment, and then, having made his guess, asked, "You are... Ike Strayder?"

"Oh? I didn't expect to be this famous?" Ike hadn't expected to be recognized either; in truth, he didn't have a clear understanding of his own fame. After the battle at the British Ministry of Magic, the whole world knew that Voldemort had returned, and naturally, they also knew him as Voldemort's student.

Moreover, their opponent was Dumbledore! No one could ignore a guy who could fight Dumbledore and escape unscathed.

It was obvious to the naked eye that the expressions of these people had become serious. Some drew their wands, while others revealed their hands, with jeweled rings on their fingers standing out conspicuously.

The leading old wizard was the same, but he had very few rings on his hands—three on his left and two on his right. Judging from their luster alone, they were quite valuable, especially the ring on his right index finger, where the ruby shone with an eerie light, like fresh blood.

He raised his right hand and pointed at Ike, wisps of red mist drifting from the gem and wrapping around his finger like ribbons.

"Ike Strayder, I will capture you and send you to the Wisconsin International Criminal Court for trial. Surrender now..."

Ike chuckled as he looked at the wizards before him, who appeared as if facing a formidable enemy. Suddenly, his brow furrowed, and an invisible barrier materialized, enveloping a cloud of red, blood-mist-like magical power that stopped before him. Looking at the earnest old wizard and the clearly surprised people behind him, his gaze unconsciously turned cold.

"A sneak attack? Hmph!"

With a cold snort, Ike went all out, his left hand fingers moving rapidly, unleashing a barrage of Explosion, Petrification, Shattering, and even Fiendfyre spells at the opponent. His left hand didn't stop there; it stretched back and then swung forward, sending a massive column of water soaring into the air and crashing down.

The old wizard stepped forward with his right foot and spread his arms. A red mist immediately spread out, directly blocking the seawater that was crashing down. The wizard behind him was not idle either. He chanted spells that Ike could not understand. Dark green, gray and even black light flashed and immediately enveloped Ike.

Ike remained composed, or rather, he trusted the protective capabilities of his LV6 Ironclad Charm. A silver shield and barrier appeared simultaneously, showing no sign of breaking even as the spells clattered against them. Meanwhile, his left hand continued its steady spellcasting, while his right hand swung its wand again, but without a ripple, as if it were merely a casual flick of the wrist.

"Be careful!"

The old wizard shouted and waved his left hand, and another cloud of red mist appeared. Then, as if something had sliced through it, a clear break appeared in the middle. With a firm touch of his right hand, the red mist suddenly pushed upwards, and the seawater that he had blocked was slammed back into the Red Sea.

With his reminder, the wizards behind him were also prepared, and they all used Phantom Teleportation to leave their original positions. When they reappeared, they had surrounded Ike.

A dozen or so spells struck Ike's defenses almost simultaneously, causing the silver shield to shake violently with a thunderous roar. Ike raised his left hand, and several earthen walls immediately appeared, surrounding him. Although these walls didn't even last a second, it was enough for Ike.

The sand suddenly exploded, and with a wave of the old wizard's sleeve, a gust of wind blew it all out to sea. Looking over, one could see Ike standing there with a grim expression, the silver shield surrounding him now much dimmer.

"Anti-Phantom Teleportation? Get ready." Ike waved his wand lightly, and the shield and barrier shone even brighter.

"After all, he is one of the most dangerous and threatening dark wizards in Britain. It's always good to be careful," the old wizard said calmly. As soon as he finished speaking, the red mist reappeared and enveloped Ike.

Ike's expression was icy, his protective aura blazing, white light condensing at the tip of his staff, making it resemble a sword in his hand. With a flick of his wrist, a massive crack appeared in the red mist. Without pausing, he abruptly swerved to the left, his left hand flashing red light as he slammed it down onto the red mist.

"boom!"

A deafening explosion rang in his ears, and Ike's protective gear flickered for a moment, but he had already rushed to within a few meters of the younger wizard on his left. His eyes flashed with ferocity, and his right hand was raised high. The next second, a white beam of light was above the man's head.

"Bang!"

The wizard remained calm, and the rings on his hands emitted an eerie black light. Two tall, wolf-headed, human-bodied monsters wielding spears appeared out of nowhere, blocking Ike's attack.

Without hesitation, Ike immediately stepped back, held his wand up in front of him, and the protective light shone even brighter.

"Bang! Bang!"

Two more black spears pierced him hard, pushing Ike back to the center. He stiffened, looked at the blood-red ground beneath his feet, and at the dozens of wolf-headed monsters blocking the wizard's path, and a smile suddenly appeared on his lips.

He tilted his head, loosened his wrists, and the white beam of light at the tip of the staff disappeared, leaving a glimmer of golden light on it, yet his gaze turned even colder.

"So, round two?"
