Chapter 192 Contract
Chapter 192 Contract
In wizarding stereotypes, giants are basically the same as trolls—cruel, stupid, and clumsy—but in reality, giants are far more terrifying.
Their enormous size represented immense power; their fights were earth-shattering, yet surprisingly disciplined, with each move executed with impressive precision. Ike, perched atop the hill, watched as the tall horse used a leaping slash to send Kakus staggering, then with a swift upward flick, disarmed Kakus.
However, Kakus was no pushover. Gugo might not be the smartest among the giants, but he was certainly the most formidable. With a sidestep, he grabbed a handful of debris, stones, and snow from the ground and hurled them at Gao Gao Ma. As Gao Gao Ma dodged, Kakus lunged into his arms, knocking him off balance, and then performed a feat of disarming him with his bare hands.
Fortunately, Gao Gaoma managed to throw the axe away with a burst of force at the crucial moment; otherwise, he would have died instantly, and the fight would never have reached the point of full force.
"Bang!"
"Bang!"
The giants, with their thick skin and tough flesh, were incredibly resilient. Kakus and Gogomar exchanged blows, trying to persuade each other to stay in the other's face, and though blood was flying everywhere, neither of them fell.
The battle wasn't just between the two of them; their subordinates were also engaged in a fierce fight. However, with their forces being prepared and the enemy caught off guard, Kakus's men were clearly at a disadvantage.
"Looks like it'll be over soon." McNeil, holding a pair of binoculars, watched as Gao Gaoma delivered a powerful shoulder lean followed by a powerful elbow strike to the chest, causing Kakus to stagger backward and land on his backside.
"Yeah, Gao Gao Ma is going to win," Ike replied casually, his attention still focused on the battle in the valley.
Gao Gaoma gave Kakus another chance. He grabbed one of Kakus's legs, swung him around violently, and slammed him to the ground. He repeated this several times until Kakus was barely breathing and tried to get up, but failed several times.
"roar!"
With a deafening roar, the tall horse picked up the axe from the ground, aimed it at Kakus's neck, and chopped it down hard. Then it grabbed Kakus's head, raised it high, and let out a triumphant roar.
Upon seeing Kakus's head, the giants loyal to him gave up resistance and surrendered, cowering and watching helplessly as the giants who had just beaten them echoed the roar of the tall horses.
"It's over. We'll go see Gogoma tomorrow." McNeil put down his binoculars, stood up, and said to Ike, who was still lying next to him.
"I think we should head over there soon," Ike said, standing up and pointing to the valley below. "Don't forget, Dumbledore's men are here too. After seeing what happens tonight, I don't believe Gogoma will keep his promise to you."
McNeil was taken aback for a moment, but after thinking about it, he understood and nodded, saying, "Okay, I'll be right there."
"Prepare another gift for him as a celebration of his becoming a Gugo; it will show that we are very sincere."
After waiting a while, when the roars in the valley subsided, McNeil took a huge breastplate down the mountain to present it to Googler. Ike, on the other hand, remained in the tent, waiting quietly.
About an hour later, McNeil returned with good news.
"Just as you said, he did waver, but after I gave him the breastplate, he agreed again."
Hearing this, Ike smiled, handed over a cup of hot tea, and said, "We'll have to wait tomorrow too; Hagrid and the others will definitely still have to go."
"We need to see with our own eyes that Gao Gaoma rejects them!"
"That's right, let's do it that way." McNeil took the hot tea, held it in his hands, and nodded in agreement.
The next morning, under the cover of the Disillusionment Charm, the two reached the mountaintop again, each using a telescope to observe the giants' movements in the valley. After waiting for a while, they finally saw Hagrid and Maxim appear, slowly walking towards the tall horse.
Compared to yesterday, Gao Gaoma looked completely different today. He was wearing a gleaming silver helmet, the breastplate that McNeil had given him the night before, a greatsword stuck in his left hand, and an axe leaning on his right, sitting casually by the lake.
The lake water was a deep red, and Kakus's head was inside, having been soaking for a whole night.
"You succeeded."
Using the telescope, Ike clearly saw Hagrid and the tall horse exchange a few words before Hagrid was captured. The tall horse was holding onto one of Hagrid's legs, and if Maxim hadn't acted quickly and released his magic, Hagrid would have been torn apart alive.
"That's right, what giants hate most is wizards using magic to harm them, and they won't have that chance!" Seeing Hagrid and Maxim awkwardly dodging the angry giants, McNeil was overjoyed. "We'll go over there later and have a good talk with Googolma."
Ike readily agreed; they already held an absolute advantage.
"We still need to be careful. Hagrid and the others won't give up so easily," Ike warned. "Put yourself in their shoes, if it were us, I definitely wouldn't be willing to give up."
"You're absolutely right, that's certainly possible."
McNeil's smile faded, replaced by a serious expression. He and Ike returned to the tent, retrieved the remaining pieces of the armor, and waited until the valley returned to calm before setting off to see Gogoma.
The valley was filled with the strong smell of blood, and there was broken debris everywhere. The lake water was completely blood-colored, making it indescribably eerie.
Gao Gaoma was initially very angry, but when he saw what the two had brought, his expression completely changed.
"The Dark Lord pays his respects to Gugo. You have kept our promise, and we offer you a gift in return." McNeil held the object high in his hand, allowing the tall horse to take it and put it on with the help of the other giants.
"Gug is pleased and wishes the messenger to convey his greetings to the Dark Lord," a giant translator said, not the one Ike had met before. "Gug has agreed to help the Dark Lord conquer Britain and hopes that the Dark Lord will keep his promise and give up the land he promised when he is victorious."
"The Dark Lord agrees to Gugo's request, and we will be inseparable allies," McNeil shouted back. Upon hearing the translation, Gogoma immediately stood up and extended his clenched right fist.
Seeing this, McNeil took a step back, while Ike stepped forward and also extended his right fist to meet Gao Gaoma's.
"This is the Dark Lord's closest student. He will represent the Dark Lord in making a pact with Gugo," McNeil explained, as he took out a huge parchment and laid it flat between the two of them.
This was a pre-prepared magical contract, written in English and Grundar, so there was no need to worry about Grundar not understanding it. He glanced through it and, seeing that it was the same as previously agreed, immediately cut his index finger and pressed it onto the contract.
Without hesitation, Ike also pricked his finger and pressed it onto the parchment. The next second, a soft, flowing golden light suddenly emanated from the parchment, signifying that their agreement had taken effect.
"We will help you and your people return to England, according to the contract," Ike said calmly. "Of course, at the appropriate time. When the Dark Lord achieves final victory, you will receive the land you desire."
"However, before that, we hope that Gugo can restrain your people. Those two messengers of Dumbledore will not give up, and they will certainly try to win over those giants who are not loyal to you."
After hearing the translation, Gao Gaoma thumped his chest, his armor making a deafening sound.
"Gugo promised..."
"No giant will follow Dumbledore!"
Ike's lips suddenly curled up, and he extended his right fist again.
"I hope you will keep your word..."
