Chapter 19 Ice and Fire

Chapter 19 Ice and Fire

The Book of Spells contains a fairly detailed account of the Guardian Spell. Combined with the relevant content in the Standard Spells, Ike gained a clearer understanding of this spell that most wizards cannot cast.

Unlike other spells, the Patronus Charm does not have a specific wand gesture. Whether you wave your wand like a whip or simply shake it, it does not affect the casting of the Patronus Charm.

What truly determines the success of a spell is not the pleasurable emotions required during its release, but rather the purity of one's own soul.

Only those with pure, beautiful, and unpolluted souls can cast the Guardian Charm. Conversely, those who use black magic extensively, whose souls are corrupted, and who are malicious and evil, will suffer a backlash from the Guardian Charm. The moment the spell takes effect, they will be killed by the magic, with no chance of recovery.

This is a true "white magic"!

"The basic requirements are so high, no wonder so few people know how to do it," Ike couldn't help but sigh.

Among the wizards Ike knew who could cast the Patronus Charm, Dumbledore was the foremost white wizard of his time, and he had always fought against the evil Dark Lord. Snape, though once a Death Eater, harbored the deepest love for Lily. Lupin was impoverished, often relying on the charity of other members of the Order of the Phoenix, but every full moon he would find a secluded place to endure the agony of transforming into a werewolf.

Needless to say, Hermione and her two useless men were also out of the question. Ike believed that the main characters could learn any kind of magic, so there was no point in researching it.

However, Ike's situation is somewhat special, and he is unsure about this basic condition.

May all the powerful beings of the heavens and myriad realms bless us!

After carefully considering the things I've done in my past and present lives, although I've never done anything good like helping an old lady cross the street or helping an old man who has fallen down, I haven't done anything bad either, so there shouldn't be any problem.

As for happy things...

Wiping away the tears from the corners of his eyes, Ike placed the Book of Spells on the table, got up, and left the Room of Requirement.

"It's not the right time yet..."

……

The Christmas holidays passed quickly, and Hogwarts Castle became lively again.

The returning young wizards kept bragging to others about their holiday experiences and how wonderful gifts their parents had bought them.

Ike quietly bypassed the chattering little wizards and sat down at the far end of the Ravenclaw table, picking up a piece of toast and silently eating his breakfast.

After Michael and Anthony returned, the Ravenclaw freshman year returned to the way it was before the holidays, and Ike's isolation worsened.

Stuart and Terry sometimes tried to invite Ike to join them, but now they were even dissuaded by others. After a few such incidents, the two could only keep a certain distance from Ike when they were outside.

Fortunately, what happens in the dormitory is not something others can interfere with.

Ike was happy with that; lately he just wanted to be alone, and in the past week, he had only learned one copying spell. After discovering that the Book of Spells and the Standard Spells had been enchanted with anti-copying magic, he became even more uninterested.

"Don't go looking for that weirdo. I heard nobody in Ravenclaw likes him..." As he was eating, Ike suddenly heard someone hinting at something. He habitually looked over with Snape's gaze and saw a fluffy little thing carrying two troublemakers toward him. One of the red-haired troublemakers was talking when he met Ike's terrifying, lifeless eyes.

"..."

Ron released his grip on Hermione's sleeve, instinctively shrinking his neck and inadvertently hiding behind her. Harry did the same; Ike's gaze was particularly lethal to him.

"Ike!" Hermione exclaimed energetically, pressing Harry and Ron down on either side of the Ravenclaw table.

"Good morning, Hermione." Ike forced a smile, casually poured Hermione a glass of pumpkin juice, and said, "Have you had breakfast yet? The pumpkin juice is especially good today."

"Not yet." Hermione took the cup and drank a sip under Harry and Ron's worried gazes. Ike's expression remained unchanged, which made them have some bad guesses.

"It feels pretty much the same as yesterday."

"There are still some, and today's is a little sweeter."

"Really?" Hermione took another sip. "Now that you mention it, it does seem a bit sweeter."

"I knew it." Ike smiled, taking a bite of his toast. "By the way, what did you want to see me about?"

"I almost forgot!" Hermione slapped her forehead, then glared at the two useless men beside her. "Do you know Nicolas Flamel?"

"I know." Ike nodded, then picked up another piece of bacon and took a bite. "The bacon isn't very good today; it was fried for a bit too long."

"If you know, then say so!" Hermione said impatiently, noticing the two surprised-looking guys beside her. "I've looked through 'Studies on the Development of Modern Wizardry,' 'List of Famous Modern Wizards,' and 'Great Wizards of Modern Times,' but I couldn't find him."

"Of course you won't find him," Ike replied with a laugh. "Nicolas Flamel, also known as Nicolas Flamel, was born in the fourteenth century and would be over six hundred and sixty years old now. He's the greatest alchemist in the magical world..."

Acton paused for a moment: "He created the Philosopher's Stone."

Satisfied with the surprised expressions on Harry and Ron's faces, Ike involuntarily narrowed his eyes.

"The Philosopher's Stone is the greatest alchemical creation in the world; it can turn any metal into pure gold. Of course, compared to its other function, turning stone into gold is nothing..."

"Just think, a person born in the fourteenth century has lived to this day..." Ike finished his food with relish. "Immortality, what an amazing thing..."

Harry frowned as he watched Ike leave alone, and said to Hermione, who was standing beside him looking a little sulky, "Hermione, we really shouldn't have come to see Ike today..."

"What's wrong?" Hermione asked, a little annoyed. "He just casually told us the answer you two couldn't find throughout the entire vacation!"

"I know, I know, I don't deny it," Harry quickly explained. "However, you heard the tone of his voice and the expression on his face when he talked about the Philosopher's Stone. I think he has other ideas..."

"What?" Hermione was about to say something when Ron interrupted her.

"That's right! Look at his eyes! Exactly the same as Snape's!" Ron bent down, feigning caution, but his voice betrayed no trace of caution. "He might even be Snape's bastard son!"

"The same look in their eyes, they're all disliked, and they're all so obsessed with the magic stone..."

"Believe me! It must be like this!"

"No way! Ike isn't that kind of person!" Hermione quickly denied.

"Think about it, since you came back from your vacation, have you seen him in the library yet? You two used to be together all the time in the library..."

"Ron!" Harry saw Hermione's face turn cold and quickly covered Ron's mouth, but it was too late. Hermione glared at the two of them and got up to leave the Great Hall.

"I...did I say something wrong again?" Ron asked Harry hesitantly after Hermione left, realizing what had happened.

Harry nodded, patted Ron on the shoulder meaningfully, made a peace sign, and said, "Twice now, Ron..."

"Hopefully we won't encounter any more trolls soon..."

The Third Watch Beast failed to evolve... and suffered a backlash... The Second Watch Beast regressed...
