Chapter 183 Werewolves
Chapter 183 Werewolves
Walking down the street in Diagon Alley, Ike casually observed the expressions on the faces of the people around him.
Aside from some key departments of the Ministry of Magic, other places basically do not have anti-intrusion magic installed, and will not automatically detect people using invisibility cloaks or illusion charms. With Ike's level of illusion charm, as long as he does not touch magical items like the Eye of Moody, no one will be able to detect him.
Things like that are extremely rare throughout the entire magical world.
With the start of the school year approaching, Diagon Alley was crowded. It must be said that Fudge's cover-up of Voldemort's resurrection was very successful; ordinary people had no idea, and even if Dumbledore had announced it in front of the entire school at the end of the previous semester, few would have believed it to be true.
Or perhaps, they simply don't care.
For most people, the name Voldemort is like the evil kings in fairy tales—an unattainable existence. Besides, even if Voldemort were to be resurrected, there's always Dumbledore.
When the sky falls, those who are tall will hold it up.
Throughout the journey, Ike saw no sign of panic; people seemed to prefer treating Fudge's attacks on Dumbledore in the newspapers as a joke. Under the deliberate manipulation of public opinion, Dumbledore's reputation plummeted, with some even suggesting he was senile.
In just two months, the greatest white wizard of this century has finally lost the immense prestige he gained from defeating Grindelwald.
We quietly walked through Diagon Alley and into Knockturn Alley.
It's a strange feeling; it's just an archway, yet the worlds inside and outside feel completely different. Diagon Alley is full of joy, while Knockturn Alley naturally feels oppressive.
The people on the street and in the corners were all draped in long, black robes, their faces covered by hoods, some even using magic to conceal themselves. These people all looked very poor, their clothes were tattered, and they emitted an indescribable, pungent odor.
Ike didn't care. He used the Disillusionment Charm to sneak into a secluded corner. When he came out, he looked no different from the others, except that he no longer had that smell.
"Let me see, a lost lamb?" a hoarse voice rang out. Ike looked coldly ahead, where three down-on-their-luck wizards blocked his way.
"No, no, no, maybe he's looking for something good, or maybe he wants to sell something."
The three of them chattered amongst themselves, seemingly speculating about Ike's purpose in coming to Knockturn Alley, but whatever the reason, their ill intentions were certain.
"Gentlemen, I have a question. Could you please answer it for me?"
Ike looked up, his large hood obscuring most of his face, leaving only his mouth faintly visible.
"A question? Of course!" one person replied with a smile. "How about one Galon?"
"One question, one gallon."
"Okay," Ike replied, then extended his left hand.
"What do you mean by that, kid!"
"You pay me? Actually, this is the first time I've ever heard of earning money by asking questions here."
"Damn it! Shattered to pieces!"
Ike's words enraged the three men. They cursed and immediately drew their wands, unleashing a Shattering Curse without a word. Ike, however, didn't even flinch; the Shattering Curse vanished a foot in front of him.
"This...this..." They were clearly panicked. Having spent so much time in the Upside Down Alley, they knew very well who they could and couldn't mess with, and this person in front of them was clearly someone they couldn't mess with.
Originally, when the three of them stopped Ike, many other people wearing cloaks quietly gathered around, but after seeing Ike's magical power that they couldn't understand at all, they quietly retreated.
He glanced coldly around and realized that only the four of them remained.
"Tell me, where are those werewolves?" Ike asked.
"Werewolves? I know, I know!"
"I can give you directions!"
"Very good...but one person is enough to give directions."
"Damn it!"
Seeing that something was wrong, the other two wizards turned to run, but their bodies froze after only a couple of steps, and they fell to the ground.
The remaining one watched in horror as two beams of green light suddenly appeared in front of Ike and landed on his two companions the next second.
"...Let's go, lead the way." Ike said calmly, and with a wave of his left hand, the two people on the ground disappeared.
"This...this way..." The remaining one, bent over, walked ahead in one direction, his voice and body trembling.
Ike didn't speak again, quietly following behind, walking slowly as if taking a stroll, his heart completely at peace. The intense killing intent emanating from them, the malevolent magic, had already given Ike the answer: they were two wicked bastards.
After following behind them, winding around for quite a while, they finally stopped outside a small grove of trees.
"Those werewolves are mostly hiding in that grove of trees over there; it's their main base." The man's body was still trembling, and he kept his head down, not daring to look at Ike.
"Fine, you can leave now," Ike said coldly.
"what?"
"So, you don't intend to stay here, do you?"
"No, no, no..." Before she could finish speaking, the person ran far away and disappeared in the blink of an eye.
Ike walked in unhurriedly, ignoring the werewolves who gradually appeared around him and quietly surrounded him. Only when the werewolves blocked his path did he speak, "Fenrir Greyback, come out and see me!"
"Hehehe, where did this kid come from? Didn't anyone tell you not to go into Tumble Lane? How did you manage to find your way here?" A gruff voice rang out, and the werewolves in front of him immediately parted to make way for a tall figure.
Compared to other werewolves, Greyback was noticeably taller, stronger, and more ferocious and evil. His robes were slightly better, but still very worn and covered in many black spots, the marks of people he had killed long ago.
Ike rolled up his left arm, revealing the Dark Lord's mark, and calmly said, "Greyborough, the Dark Lord wants to see you."
"Master...Master?" Graybury was startled at first, but his face quickly turned ferocious. "Where did this little liar come from, daring to deceive me!"
"It seems you didn't know, Greyback." Ike had actually anticipated Greyback's reaction. To be precise, Greyback wasn't a confidant of Voldemort at all. Although he had rendered great service to Voldemort during the First Wizarding War, Voldemort had never branded him with the mark of a Death Eater. And the absence of the Dark Mark meant that Greyback had no idea of Voldemort's resurrection.
The newspaper? There wasn't a single word about it in there!
"Little fellow, you're unlucky. You shouldn't have played me for a fool..." Before he finished speaking, Greyback let out a long howl, pulled out his wand and swung it over with a spell, then ran quickly toward Ike.
Ike stretched out his left hand to block the incoming spell, then waved his wand with his right hand, sending the petrification spell flying back at an even faster speed.
"Snapped!"
"Torn apart!"
"Roar! Roar! Roar!"
The werewolves surrounding Ike howled in unison, stomping their feet as they roared. Meanwhile, in the center, Greyback laughed maniacally as he unleashed a barrage of curses at Ike, all the while running forward, trying to get closer.
But for some reason, after running for so long, the distance between the two seemed to remain unchanged. They could catch this wretched guy with just one step forward, but they just couldn't touch him.
"Snapped!"
"what!"
"Snapped!"
"what!"
Ike's left hand was outstretched, easily blocking all of Greyback's spells. His right hand swung his wand, and a red whip of light appeared, striking Greyback hard again and again.
Clearly, even without transforming, the light whip didn't do much damage to the thick-skinned werewolf. Although Graybury was covered in bloody welts and his clothes were tattered, his shouts were still full of energy.
Ike wasn't in a hurry, just kept cracking the whip. Gradually, the howls of the surrounding werewolves subsided, and Greyback's momentum weakened. The cries contained less cruelty and more pain.
"Snapped!"
Finally, Graybury stopped. He knelt on the ground, head bowed, covered in blood, his chest heaving as he gasped for breath.
"Shall we continue, Greyback?" Ike put away his wand and said calmly.
"Cough...hehe...heh..." Graybury spat out a mouthful of blood, wiped it on his mouth, leaving a long trail of blood. "That was pretty intense..."
"I'm starting to believe that you were sent by the master to find me..."
He twisted his neck, slowly got up from the ground, and stumbled before regaining his balance.
"Who are you? Why haven't I seen you before?"
"Ike Streid".
"Strider? The guy who helped Barty imprison that old geezer Moody?" Graybury chuckled. He'd seen the newspaper articles about Ike. "So, the master really is back?"
Ike nodded and said, "That's right."
"Master sent you to find me! Hehehe, Master still needs me!" Greyback seemed to have gone mad, laughing wildly with blood all over his body. He waved his hands and shouted loudly at the werewolves around him, who responded to him as if they were insane.
The woods were filled with the pointless howls of the werewolves, rising and falling in waves, creating a strangely eerie atmosphere.
"We can go now, Greyback. Don't keep the Dark Lord waiting too long," Ike said calmly and coldly.
"Hehehe, let's go, let's go now!" Graybury laughed as he walked towards Ike, finally reaching him this time. Suddenly, the smile vanished, replaced by a ferocious expression, and he viciously clawed at Ike's face with his right hand.
"Go to hell!"
"Snapped!"
In the blink of an eye, Graybuck's tall body was thrown high backward as if hit by a truck, crashing straight into the tree trunk and falling face down to the ground.
The werewolves seemed to have their throats choked, and not one of them made a sound.
"Tap, tap, tap"
Ike walked step by step to Graybury's side, stepped on his head, looked down at him, and suddenly laughed.
"A filthy beast..."
He pressed down on Graybuck's head with more force before pulling back. With a slight movement of his fingers, he turned Graybuck over; the man was already unconscious.
"Snapped!"
A stun spell was cast, and only then did Ike grab Greyback's arm. Turning around, Ike glanced around at the werewolves, gave a cold snort, and vanished instantly, along with Greyback.
"Bang!"
Ike suddenly appeared in the living room of Malfoy Manor, and with a forceful movement of his right hand, he threw the blood-soaked Greyback aside.
"Who!" Lucius and Wormtail ran from the direction of the basement, wands in hand, before putting them away when they saw it was Ike.
Looking at the mess in the living room and the man lying on the floor in a pool of blood, Lucius frowned and asked, "Who is this guy?"
"The person the teacher wants to see," Ike replied casually, heading straight for the basement. Lucius seemed thoughtful, then realized what was happening and followed him, leaving Wormtail standing there dumbfounded.
After glancing at their retreating figures, he took out his wand and made the blood gourd on the ground float up, then quickly followed them.
Upon entering the basement, Old Fu was still sitting there. Ike walked over in a few steps, bowed slightly, and said, "Teacher, I'm back."
"Quick, little Ike," Old Voll chuckled, glancing at the figure floating behind the bug tail, and said, "Looks like you taught Graybury a lesson."
"He's overestimating himself," Ike replied.
"Very good, well done." Comrade Old Fu stood up, patted Ike on the shoulder, and said, "Appropriate punishment is indispensable for those who are disobedient."
He paused, then asked, "What about that coward?"
"Here it is." He said, taking the small box out of his pocket and handing it to Comrade Lao Fu.
Comrade Old Voldemort took the box, opened the lid, glanced inside, picked up his wand, pointed it inside, and then waved it. A corpse landed on the long table. The hair was disheveled, and the fur coat was filthy; it was Karkaroff.
"Ah..." Comrade Old Fu reached out and pinched Karkarov's cheek, "Kakarov, if only you had come that night..."
"Wormtail, drag it away and give our old friend a dignified funeral."
Without looking at the insect tail that had carried away Karkaroff's body, Old Voltaire picked up the box again, sat back down in his chair, and said while shaking the box, "You did a good job, little Ike..."
"But why are there two more corpses here?"
"Teacher, those were two clueless guys in Knockover Alley. They wanted to rob me," Ike said calmly. "I just wanted them to take me to the werewolf. They were the ones who had the nerve to do it."
"Very good, very good..."
"Don't be nervous, little Ike, I don't mean to blame you," Comrade Old Fu said with a smile. He looked inside the box again, closed the lid, and casually tossed it back.
"A very nice little gadget, a beautiful Seamless Extension Charm. Keep it; it'll be very convenient for disposing of corpses."
"It's a very cautious approach. It's right to conceal our whereabouts appropriately now." With that, Comrade Old Fu stood up and grabbed Ike's arm.
"Let's go, the Melvin Book has been waiting for you for a long time."
