Chapter 8 - The Reckless and the Childish

Following the dark tunnel from which the evil spirit master had come, they walked for a while in the dark. Qian Renxue instinctively tucked the hem of her dress into Qian Lingyun's hand, instructing, "Hold onto my clothes and follow me. Knowing that stupid fox as I do, she'll definitely..."

Before they could finish speaking, they heard a rumbling sound overhead. Qian Lingyun swallowed hard, exclaiming in fear, "What could she possibly be? Don't just tell me half the story!"

But Qian Renxue didn't answer her question. Instead, she swallowed hard, picked Qian Lingyun up in a princess carry, and ran wildly down the path they had just taken.

"That unreliable, stupid fox Hu Liena specially modified the traps here to prevent tomb raiding. They don't activate when you come in, so it's all smooth sailing, but when you come out... it'll be difficult!" Qian Renxue said, looking back as if worried that some strange thing might catch up with them.

"It sounds like you know a lot about something strange she's up to?"

As she spoke, Qian Lingyun quickly turned her head to help Qian Renxue observe the situation behind her.

Sure enough, in the long passageway, a series of gray-black stone spheres followed the path of the passage, chasing after them.

"Can this thing blow them up?" Qian Lingyun asked, turning her head.

"With our current cultivation level, let's not even think about it!" Qian Renxue said breathlessly. Carrying a girl about her own size on her back while she, a six-year-old girl, was running was truly an ordeal.

Seeing the boulder rolling faster and faster, Qian Lingyun made a decisive move, immediately activating her Martial Soul Possession. She flapped her black wings and urged, "How could I have such a stupid sister like you? We can fly!"

"Come down quickly! Hu Liena also thought of this; there are traps up there too," Qian Renxue leaped up and pulled Qian Lingyun down from mid-air.

With a thud, Qian Lingyun fell heavily to the ground. Without thinking, she braced herself with her hands, got up, and ran after Qian Renxue. Qian Renxue, annoyed, gave her a sharp rap on the head and scolded, "Do you know how dangerous that was? Do you think I don't know that flying is faster than walking? That fox Hu Liena is wicked; she would pull out a few strands of steel-clawed spider silk every so often!"

"That thread is as hard as metal or stone; it could slice a person in half with the slightest carelessness! If it weren't for me, you would be dead!"

Qian Renxue grew angrier as she spoke, thinking to herself, "So this is what it's like to be a mother with an unreasonable child!"

"I know! I won't do it again!" Realizing the seriousness of the problem, Qian Lingyun lowered her head and sheepishly admitted her mistake to Qian Renxue.

"Hmm," Qian Renxue said with a cold snort, but her anger had subsided considerably.

Finally, at the last stretch of the passageway, she grabbed Qian Lingyun's wrist and leaped towards the tomb chamber.

boom!

After the two women landed on their stomachs, a loud bang came from behind them.

It was the sound of that round boulder hitting the wall. Just when Qian Lingyun thought it was over, another boulder came one after another, crashing heavily into the first one and smashing it into pieces.

After about three or four minutes, the sound of the boulders colliding with each other finally stopped, but the entrance to the passage was now blocked by the rubble.

Qian Lingyun subconsciously looked at Qian Renxue and whispered, "Sister Xue, the exit is blocked now, what should we do?"

"In my opinion, we can write a will first, and then wait to die," Qian Renxue said in a serious tone, talking nonsense. For some reason, she liked to see Qian Lingyun's helpless look, because... that look made her see what her mother used to look like.

"Ah!" Qian Lingyun whispered, "Are you serious?"

Clearly, Qian Lingyun didn't believe that Qian Renxue would just wait to die here.

"Tch, so calm, how boring. I was hoping to see you wail and cry!"

"Watch closely, I have another way!" Qian Renxue pouted unhappily, walked to Hu Liena's coffin, and reached her hand into the dark coffin.

Qian Lingyun held her breath, as if afraid that even the slightest loud breathing would disturb Qian Renxue.

Gradually, Qian Renxue's expression grew more and more solemn, and Qian Lingyun also looked at Qian Renxue nervously, afraid that she might make a mistake at this moment.

Suddenly, Qian Renxue's expression turned cold, and her eyes showed terror. The hand that had been pressing against the coffin suddenly grabbed her arm that had been reaching into the coffin, and she let out a heart-wrenching scream.

This terrified Qian Lingyun. She rushed over and asked with concern, "Sister Xue, what's wrong? Is there something in there?!"

But Qian Renxue didn't reply. Instead, she frowned and clenched her teeth, large beads of sweat dripping onto the ground. Just as Qian Lingyun was wondering what to do, the tension on Qian Renxue's face vanished. She reached her hand out of the coffin and smeared a layer of dust on Qian Lingyun's face.

Looking at Qian Lingyun, who looked like a little kitten, Qian Renxue burst into laughter:

"Hahaha, how was my acting? Pretty good, right? Were you scared by your older sister?!"

As she spoke, Qian Renxue, completely devoid of any angelic or divine image, plopped down on the ground and burst into laughter.

Qian Lingyun felt like cursing at his smug look, and she swallowed the national essence that was about to come out of her mouth.

There's no way around it. Given their current relationship, if she were to scold Qian Renxue, it would be the same as scolding herself... She's not that stupid.

But... not being able to swear doesn't mean you can't sulk. Qian Lingyun decided to rebel against Qian Renxue's perverse sense of humor in her own way. She obediently found a corner, squatted down, picked up a small stick, and drew circles on the ground...

Suddenly, Qian Lingyun seemed to have some blurry fragments of memory in her mind. Among the fragments was a scene of Qian Renxue flying a kite in front of the Papal Palace when she was a child.

"What is this?" Qian Lingyun muttered to herself, rubbing her forehead. "When did I get a part of Bibi Dong's memories?! There's Jialing Pass, Qian Renxue, the City of Slaughter... and how come there's... a secret room?!" Qian Lingyun's lips twitched, and she froze on the spot!

After a hearty laugh, Qian Renxue, supporting herself on the coffin, ran up from the ground. Looking at Qian Lingyun's condition, she roughly guessed what had happened.

Qian Renxue's eyes darted around, and another wicked idea popped into her head. She pretended not to notice Qian Lingyun's anger, walked straight to her own coffin, lifted the lid, and crawled inside, leaving only her head sticking out. She shouted loudly at Qian Lingyun:

"Hey, silly girl, what are you doing over there? Come quick, I've found the exit."

"..." Qian Lingyun didn't speak, and continued to draw circles on the ground.

Seeing this, Qian Renxue sneered inwardly, then smiled sweetly and shouted at Qian Lingyun, "You're not going out, huh! Fine, then you stay here! I'm going out first!"

After saying that, Qian Renxue pulled her head back, raised her hand and closed the coffin lid, then fell silent.

"Huh!"

As soon as Qian Renxue left, Qian Lingyun immediately stopped what she was doing. She looked around and saw that in the quiet space, only her own heartbeat was pounding.

She hesitated before standing up and slowly walked to Qian Renxue's coffin, thinking to herself, "Could the secret passage out be inside her coffin?"

"Should I open it or not? If I go out now, won't she be squatting at the exit laughing at me later..." Qian Lingyun bit her lip and pondered for a while, but finally raised her hand and opened the coffin a crack.

Qian Lingyun, who was pushing hard on the coffin lid, was imagining that there was a tunnel leading to the outside world inside the coffin when she suddenly saw a blue-faced, fanged face jump out of the coffin.

As everyone knows, Xue'er lacked love growing up. Now that she's acting as an elder, she's like someone who's been caught in the rain and wants to tear other people's umbrellas off. Hehehe.
