Chapter 19 - Soul Bone

As is well known, there is a two-hour waiting period after a spirit ring appears. If the spirit ring is activated within these two hours, it will not disappear.

For safety reasons, while Qian Lingyun was absorbing the soul ring, Qian Renxue stood beside her with her sword to keep watch for her.

About an hour and a half later, Qian Lingyun slowly exhaled a breath of turbid air and stood up from the ground.

"Why did it take so long to absorb it?" Qian Renxue glanced at her sideways and asked in confusion.

Qian Lingyun rubbed her hands together sheepishly and chuckled, "Hehehe, this isn't my first time absorbing a spirit ring... I'm inexperienced!"

stab...

It was the dull thud of a strip of cloth being torn. Qian Renxue turned her head to look at the sound and a meaningful aunt-like smile appeared on her face!

"What are you laughing at?!"

Qian Lingyun blushed with embarrassment upon realizing that her skirt had been torn by something. She angrily reached out to grab it, but instead grabbed a cold, sharp whip.

"You truly are blessed, having been brought here by the will of this plane." Qian Renxue stepped forward and pinched Qian Lingyun's newly grown tail, teasing her in a rather frivolous manner.

"Looks like you'll only be able to wear skirts from now on. If you wear pants, this thing will just leave a hole in them, hahaha."

"Stop talking! You're such a wicked person! Go on, go and absorb your spirit ring properly!" Qian Lingyun pinched her own "tail" with one hand and desperately pushed Qian Renxue toward the spirit ring with the other.

"Haha, don't push me, don't push me, I have legs..." Qian Renxue chuckled, pulling her hand away and pinching Qian Lingyun's blood-stained cheek, instructing, "Then I'll start absorbing the soul ring now! Don't be impatient just because you can't see me for a few hours!"

"What's the rush! Go absorb the soul ring. Don't worry, I'm here, nothing will happen!" Qian Lingyun hugged her tail and glared fiercely at Qian Renxue, wishing she could give her a couple of hard blows.

"Haha, thank you for your hard work!"

At this point, Qian Renxue stopped talking and sat cross-legged, automatically drawing up the black soul ring that she had been neglecting for a long time.

Not long after Qian Renxue sat down, Qian Lingyun's long hair, which had been hanging down her back, was suddenly blown to her forehead by a gust of wind, sticking together with the bloodstains on her body.

That awkward and annoying feeling made Qian Lingyun inexplicably irritable.

"Oh dear, looks like I'll have to find somewhere to wash up later; I'm covered in sticky blood..."

Suddenly, as if remembering something bad, Qian Lingyun swallowed hard and muttered to herself, "It shouldn't... be that unlucky, right?"

For two quarters of an hour, Qian Lingyun was filled with anxiety, but the thing she was worried about did not happen. Everything was so peaceful and serene until she vaguely saw a group of small black dots moving downwind of her in the corner of her eye.

At this point, Qian Lingyun could only hope that these strange things were just passing by...

And that futile expectation was shattered as the group of black dots drew ever closer.

When the two sides were less than 500 meters apart, Qian Lingyun was finally able to see what these things looked like.

Those creatures were about two meters tall, covered in dark red fur, and had a pair of powerful forelimbs. When they opened their mouths, you could see their half-foot-long fangs, which made them look like they were not benevolent beings.

"So many Bloodtooth Baboons? Have I stirred up a hornet's nest?"

Qian Lingyun's lips twitched twice, and she felt a sense of foreboding. Although there was no particularly powerful leader in this baboon troop, the number of them was indeed a bit too many. Looking around, the densely packed appearance of them was probably at least three hundred to five hundred.

Judging from their shrunken bellies, it's clear that these baboons came looking for her because they smelled the blood on her.

"..."

Strangely, the baboons did not attack Qian Lingyun directly. Instead, they stood quietly in place, staring at them with their small eyes.

Qian Lingyun glared at them fiercely.

Soon, the baboon troop parted to make way, and a large baboon with two tufts of white hair fluttering on its forehead raised its forelimbs and let out a sharp cry towards the sky.

The next instant, the previously orderly baboon troop suddenly became chaotic. They scattered in all directions, attempting to surround Qian Lingyun and her companion in a C-shape, planning to trap them like dogs in a cage, or rather, to encircle them!

Looking at the dense swarm of baboons, Qian Lingyun nervously took two steps back. But when she saw Qian Renxue still absorbing the soul ring, she knew that a tactical retreat was impossible. The only option was to have a head-on confrontation with those beasts.

"Chirp! Chirp! Chirp!"

The fastest baboons were less than ten meters away from Qian Lingyun, and she could even smell a faint fishy stench emanating from them.

"First Soul Skill, Dark Flame."

Qian Lingyun took a deep breath, lowered her body slightly, and some faint black flames ignited on the scythe on her arm.

This is one of the Scorpion-tailed Winged Lion's innate skills. Although it was not used in the battle with Qian Lingyun, it is indeed a very practical soul skill. It can be attached to oneself or used to attack enemies, making it a versatile soul skill.

"cut!"

With a sudden flap of her six purple wings, Qian Lingyun still demonstrated her high mobility to the fullest.

A dark purple arc of light flashed in a Z-shape, slicing the first few baboons in half at the waist. Conspicuous black flames ignited at the cut points of their bodies. After a few screams, they fell silent.

As the flames subsided, these "early birds" left not even with their corpses, but only a few yellow spirit rings to announce their existence.

Suddenly, something unexpected happened. Seeing this, the other baboons quickly slowed down. They watched the purple shadow weaving back and forth among them warily, letting out threatening roars.

Suddenly, Qian Lingyun found a suitable position and flashed out diagonally. The four or five baboons blocking her way were beheaded by her sharp arm blades, and a yellow soul ring condensed above the corpses.

"roar!!"

Seeing that things were not going well, the baboon king let out a roar and leaped around in the middle and rear of the baboon troop. His massive body landed heavily on the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.

"Should we try killing this guy first? Maybe once the leader is dead, the rest of the rabble will scatter on their own!"

Thinking of this, Qian Lingyun seemed to agree that this method was feasible. She seized the opportunity and accelerated towards the direction where the smoke and dust were rising.

call…

A gust of wind swept in, and from the swirling sand, a boulder the size of a millstone was thrown straight out.

The boulder in her pupils grew larger and larger, and danger was imminent. It was no longer realistic to dodge at this point. Qian Lingyun gritted her teeth, raised her knife, and used the sharp blades of her arms to cut the boulder into four pieces.

The rubble was no longer a major problem, but the powerful impact attached to the rocks sent her flying backward. She tried to use the surrounding objects to absorb the force, but in the end, she could only tumble several times in the air before stabbing her arm blade into the ground to brake forcefully.

"Pah!" Qian Lingyun spat, looking disheveled. She was about to fight again when several baboons began circling around Qian Renxue, baring their teeth.

"Get out of my way!"

Reflexively, Qian Lingyun automatically deactivated the double-arm scythes on her divine armor, and her fair hands had somehow found themselves gripping a long-handled scythe that exuded an eerie and ominous aura.
