Chapter 990 The Queen of Pollution

Chapter 990 The Queen of Pollution

Douglas sensed that Kismet was not quite right. Looking down, he saw that Kismet looked completely at ease, letting the evening breeze tousle his silver hair, which curled in front of his forehead, showing no sign of displeasure.

Douglas, who felt he knew Kismet very well, said, "Are you complaining to me about not being able to give you back?"

"Yeah," Kismet said lazily.

"Don't worry, after I achieve my goal, I will make you whole again."

Kismet stopped pointing, and the puppets downstairs also stopped moving shortly after the music stopped.

"Then please rest assured, I will definitely complete everything... the eye of the storm, before the day you need to achieve your goal."

Faced with Kismet's disgruntled complaints, Douglas simply smiled and shook his head, without actually urging Kismet to hurry up.

Kismet, being a smart man, was well aware of the consequences if he failed to complete the task assigned to him.

He stopped paying attention to Kismet and started thinking about what would happen after today.

"Those who were meant to leave have already left. Those who want to live are almost at their breaking point."

"No rush, no rush, I'll send you a big meal right away."

……

In the underground base, Corey stood blankly beside the pool where the Red Worm Queen was imprisoned.

She was one of the few who guessed she wouldn't be taken away by Speaker Alec. But while she guessed, she couldn't make it public; otherwise, high-ranking wizards had plenty of ways to silence her.

Therefore, each successful experiment means that the day when those high-ranking wizards leave is getting closer and closer.

Tonight, Corey was feeling uneasy, so he returned to the Queen.

Because one cannot expend mental energy here, it instead brings a sense of peace to the heart.

Before she could even settle in for a few minutes, Corey suddenly sensed someone approaching the warehouse. She immediately turned around and picked up a control panel from the nearby lab table.

Mental power cannot be used here, so many magical items have been prepared for protection.

"Wizard Corey, what's wrong?"

It's impossible for Corey to be alone in such an important warehouse. The moment she moved, other wizards immediately inquired about the situation.

"It looks like someone has come in. But there's no message from above."

Upon hearing this, the others immediately sprang into action. The Queen Insect was a vital resource, and even if they didn't believe anyone would dare to offend the Stargate Council's interests, they couldn't let their guard down.

"Wizard Corey." Not long after, a somewhat unfamiliar wizard opened the stairwell and came down.

The other party even has the key to enter the underground area; they must have been sent by the council.

However, Corey hadn't seen the other person much.

"Greetings, Wizard Corey." The visitor was a rather pretty witch with long, brown curly hair that cascaded lazily down to her calves. "I am Madeline. Lord Murridge sent me to check on the Queen of the Insects."

The red worm queen is attracted to the scent of witches, so witches are usually the ones who go into the water to soothe her.

People like Thor can go into the water and get close to the red worm queen, but frequent contact will make the queen irritable.

"It used to be a different wizard who came."

"Hmm, she's been quite busy lately. I have a letter of introduction from Wizard Murridge here."

Madeline pulled a folded note from her bosom and tossed it to Corey.

Corey reached out and caught the note, remaining alert. He held the corner of the paper, gave it a gentle shake, and unfolded the entire sheet.

She quickly scanned the contents of the letter, focusing on the magical runes and miniature magical circles at the very end.

"No problem, it's a letter from Wizard Murridge himself."

Corey handed the letter to the wizard apprentice beside him for filing, then stepped forward to greet Madeline. "I'm sorry, I wasn't notified beforehand, so I had to check it several times."

Madeline smiled, completely unconcerned. "It's alright. The interests of the council come first. I don't mind waiting."

Corey led Madeline into the pool. "Would you like to go in and observe?"

"Yes. Don't worry, I know the rules. I will absolutely not use my mental power to observe."

Although it was Madeline's first time here, she was clearly very familiar with the process.

She walked to the edge of the pool, took off her outermost wizard robe, revealing a somewhat sexy fitted blouse and trousers underneath.

Then she lightly leaped into the murky pool water.

Corey just watched from the side, without asking Madeline what she was observing. In any case, aside from maintaining the queen's stability, Corey wasn't qualified to know about other important experiments.

After all, she was a wizard belonging to the Radiant Family.

Underwater, Madeline opened her eyes, looking at the giant egg in front of her. A slight smile appeared on her lips, and suddenly a small syringe appeared in her hand. The syringe contained a small amount of black liquid, which swayed slightly with Madeline's movements.

"Inject it today, and you'll see a reaction in ten days. Hmph, by then we'll have left the stargate. Let them worry about the berserk queen."

The Red Worm Queen is neither a physical entity nor a spiritual entity, so ordinary medicines are unlikely to affect her. However, the Stargate Council has captured the Queen for so many years and studied her extensively, so they naturally have their own methods.

The potion in Madeline's hand wasn't an ordinary liquid. The liquid was merely a surface carrier; it also contained a trace of shock and fear.

If this single, fleeting thought were released in an ordinary city, it would be enough to drive an entire city mad, turning them into reckless, irrational killers.

Whether it's siblings, parents and children, or beloved relatives and friends, they can all bite each other's throats without hesitation.

If she injects this single, distracting thought into the queen's eggshell, the queen will gradually go mad under its influence. She will forget her primary duty of laying eggs and only think about killing every creature in her sight.

This is a small lesson for those who disrespect the Stargate Council.

The syringe gradually approached the giant egg, the sharp needle piercing into the shell, and it looked like Madeline was about to administer the medicine.

Suddenly, time seemed to stand still. Madeline felt her heartbeat stop, and the water around her ceased to ripple.

She looked down at her hands, trying to think, but her brain didn't respond.

It seemed like a second had passed, yet it also seemed like an eternity, before Madeline finally regained her sense of time.

"What just happened?" she asked, somewhat bewildered, a sense of fear of the unknown beginning to rise in her heart.

She suddenly realized that her hand had somehow changed position. The syringe that had been inserted into the giant egg had moved with her hand to her neck, and the needle tip had already pierced her throat.

"What?"

Before the bewildered Madeline could even react with surprise, her fingers, following the momentum of the previous movement, pushed the syringe forward.

"Sizzle—"

Madeline's eyes turned red in an instant, and her expression became ferocious.

"I've been infected by evil thoughts! I need to leave immediately and cast a mental stabilization spell outside!"

Mental power cannot be used inside the white warehouse, which is why Murridge chose to use distracting thoughts to destroy the Queen.

But now Madeline has infused this distracting thought into her body, and if she wants to get rid of it as soon as possible, she must go outside the warehouse.

The plan failed for unknown reasons.

She was frustrated, unsure how to face Murridge later. Fortunately, the dosage of the potion was carefully controlled; it would take ten days to fully affect the queen and only one hour to affect Madeline.

That's enough time for Madeline to run outside the warehouse, and even make it back to the observatory.

However, just as she was about to swim to the surface, she suddenly felt as if a mouth had grown out of her brain.

Inside its mouth were jet-black teeth and a scarlet tongue. The small tongue, deep inside the mouth, trembled incessantly with the impact of the air.

I want to eat! I want to eat you! I want to eat everything in front of me!

The moment this furious thought arose, Madeline's bloodshot eyes instantly turned pitch black, as if ink had been dripped into them.

"I want to eat! I want to eat you! I want to eat everything in front of me!"

Madeline opened her mouth with all her might, and the corner of her mouth was instantly torn.

However, just as she was about to jump out of the pool, another scene suddenly appeared before her eyes.

It was an arched gate, leading to a constantly shifting, colorful world. Within this world seemed to dwell eerie figures. However, all of these figures were entangled together, as if glued together, inseparable.

Just as Madeline temporarily suppressed her rage due to the strange sight before her, the sticky figures suddenly approached the arched doorway, extending colorful fingers to grab at the bewildered Madeline.

A few seconds later, Madeline's body floated to the surface.

Corey, who had been standing by the pool and observing the water below with his naked eye, immediately changed his expression.

"Guards! Wizard Madeline...is dead. Inform the council immediately!"
