Death Wizard Diary.

Chapter 973 Is it you?

Chapter 973 Is it you?

Soaking in the murky liquid, Fiona was nearing her limit.

The person changing shifts patted her on the shoulder, indicating that she should go up.

Fiona took one last look at the colossal structure before her, handed the piping equipment to her successor, and then quickly rose to the surface.

As soon as they emerged from the water, two wizard apprentices respectfully stepped forward and handed them two blankets.

When the two blankets were unfolded, they revealed a dense swarm of leeches-like insects inside.

Fiona frowned slightly. Even after experiencing it several times, she still disliked the feeling of these insects crawling on her and absorbing her moisture.

But we have no choice but to do it. Other methods of wiping and bathing cannot recycle bodily fluids without causing pollution.

Fiona closed her eyes, letting the two apprentices wrap towels around her front and back respectively.

Instantly, the mouths of hundreds of leeches clinging to the towel began to suckle at her body.

Fiona closed her eyes, trying to ignore the tingling, itchy sensation spreading through her body.

Ten minutes later, the two apprentices removed the blanket, revealing that the insects hanging on it had all become much fatter, and Fiona was now completely clean.

Only then did she go and change her clothes.

The wizard apprentice quickly hung up the blanket, then carefully used tweezers to pick out the plump, white insects one by one and put them into the cauldron.

Once the crucible was full of worms, another person began to heat it with a natural fire. The worms quickly began to melt like butter, transforming from a pot of wriggling worms into a milky-yellow liquid, with thin layers of worm exoskeletons floating on top.

The wizard apprentice used a glass stirring rod to break up the paper-thin outer layer. Finally, the liquid in the crucible became even more turbid.

After the liquid cooled slightly, they poured it back into the pool where Fiona had just submerged.

This minimizes the waste of murky liquid in the pool.

Meanwhile, Fiona had already arrived on the second floor and was reporting the situation to Murridge.

"The mother insect is not in good condition and will probably not be able to lay eggs again in the short term."

Murridge's two telescope-like eyes bulged out and then retracted.

"The mother insect might be regaining consciousness." He kept twirling the ink-absorbing pen in his hand, letting the ink inside splash onto the table. "We need more Faceless Men. At least one complete one."

Fiona immediately suggested, "The person we saw with Wizard Thor last time is very likely a Faceless Man. He seems to know me; I can go and lure him over."

Murridge clicked his tongue. "What a pity. You don't know, he's just the soul of a Faceless Man, occupying a decent vessel to move around in. Faceless Man souls are much rarer, but they're of no use to our experiments."

Fiona lowered her head, making no attempt to hide the disgust on her face. "But perhaps he will know the whereabouts of the other Faceless Men."

"Unfortunately, the Faceless Men rarely communicate with each other and mostly keep to themselves."

"That's worth a try."

"Ha, Fiona, you know he's one of Thor's men. The Speaker hasn't given up on trying to win Thor over yet."

Fiona raised her head again and said stubbornly, "What the Speaker needs is the Wizard of Thor, not his slave. If the Wizard of Thor has any complaints, we can compensate him. If he is still not satisfied, I can do whatever I want with him."

Murridge tossed the quill he was holding onto the table, leaned back in his chair, and said, "Why bother? Fiona, we can look elsewhere."

Fiona clenched her fists. "I won't let any Faceless Men get away. You know, they killed my father!"

Murridge sighed. "Whatever. After all, you're the best person to cultivate the queen and the eggs."

With permission granted, Fiona immediately ordered an investigation into Thor and Agu's whereabouts.

They couldn't find Thor, and as a result, they couldn't find Agu's whereabouts either.

After smashing a table, Fiona decided to go find Agu herself.

After several days of waiting outside Byron's house, Fiona finally saw Agu, who had gone out alone.

She immediately stepped forward and asked, "Have we met before?"

When Agu saw Fiona, he was taken aback at first, then turned his head and tried to get around her.

But Fiona stepped to the side and blocked Agu's path again.

"You called me by name the moment we met last time. Why are you pretending not to know me now? I checked, you and Wizard Byron came to Iskeper a year ago, and you've never been to Olga before, nor have you ever seen me. I think my connection with the Faceless Men is only that one thing, so I came to talk to you." Fiona blocked Agu's way, rattling off a string of words, giving Agu no chance to escape.

Having no other choice, Agu stopped. "Fiona, I need to complete the task my master assigned me. Let's talk later."

Fiona, hearing that it was Thor's instruction, finally stepped aside.

Agu quickly lowered his head and walked around her, looking as if he dared not look directly at her.

Fiona stepped aside, but immediately followed behind.

On the second floor of the villa, Thor left the window. "She's been waiting outside for so many days, her patience must have run out. Let Agu give her another run around."

Penny leaned on Thor's shoulder. "Brother Thor, you actually sent Agu to find Fiona? Aren't you afraid he'll get too excited when he sees his daughter and blurt out everything?"

Thor wasn't worried at all. "They know exactly what we want to do, and we know exactly what they want to do too. Agu won't say, and it doesn't matter if he does. Besides, Agu needs an opportunity to confront Fiona."

"Fiona was only five years old when she went to live with Agu, and they didn't separate until she was fifteen. Normally, Agu should be the father in Fiona's memory. And Agu clearly cares about his daughter very much. Given the current situation, we're bound to have a conflict sooner or later... Let Agu make his own choice."

Bearing the mission and the choice, Agu wandered around outside for a few hours, completing the so-called mission assigned by Thor. In the end, he was dragged back to the underground base where they first met by Fiona that very night.

"Actually, you came to find me to find the Faceless Man, right? Is your experiment... lacking materials again?" Walking in the underground base, Agu broke the silence first.

"You're a Faceless Man too, right? I do want to know the whereabouts of the other Faceless Men through you, but if you're unwilling to tell me, there's nothing I can do. After all, you're one of their servants." Fiona continued leading Agu deeper into the base, to a depth that Agu hadn't ventured into last time.

At the entrance to the base, you can still see a few wizards and apprentices, but the further you go in, the fewer people there are.

Agu wasn't afraid of any traps Fiona might set for him. Thor was not far away now, and as a consciousness residing in the black pages of the diary, he was sending simple signals to Thor.

When Fiona first tracked them down, Thor noticed her movements and deliberately waited a few days before letting Agu appear.

If Fiona really had something important to tell Agu, she would be in a hurry by now, and there's less chance she'd beat around the bush.

So before Agu deliberately appeared, Thor had already made an agreement with Agu that if danger arose, Agu should immediately call Thor to retrieve his diary.

However, before leaving with Fiona, Agu had already decided that he would not inform Thor unless absolutely necessary.

Only when the two had reached a place where there was no one around did Agu speak again. This time, he mustered up his courage to speak, because he knew that if he spoke, he would have to confront the old matter from many years ago.

"If you don't absolutely need to know about the Faceless Man, then what did you call me here to find out?"

Fiona stopped in front of a white warehouse, turned to face Agu, her lips curved in a straight line, her eyes half-closed. "I want to know, were you the one who killed my father?"
