Chapter 965 Deactivation

Chapter 965 Deactivation

Thor looked around at the materials and equipment in the laboratory. Based on his current knowledge and the information he had received from Kismet, he could tell that this was all part of an experimental project to study red worms.

One of them appears to be an anti-pollution experiment. The equipment used is exactly the same as that used by Saul in his treatment research.

"Lord Ali, these devices are for protecting against interstellar pollution, right? If they can resist interstellar pollution, they can also resist the Kuroshio pollution. Do you really think leaving is safer than staying?"

"The starry sky isn't all danger. If we can find a suitable world, it can become the new base of the Stargate Council."

"I understand," Thor nodded.

Alec spoke calmly as he explained to Saul, but that same calmness implied that his decision would not change.

Similarly, Thor's expression told Alec that he would not participate in the Stargate escape plan.

Alec understood. "Then we'll leave each other alone."

"I'm taking Senior Byron with me."

"He has passed the test, and Stargate will not interfere with his actions. Stargate will not force anyone who passes the test to leave or stay. Leaving against one's will only make one a burden to Stargate. Oh, and by the way, he needs to complete the mission he has accepted."

"No problem." Thor readily agreed; he could lend a hand if Byron had any issues.

Thor looked through the transparent window of the balloon room at the red worm floating in the air and thought that since the atmosphere was so good, he might as well make another deal.

"Speaker Alek, are these red worms already dead?"

"I still can't accurately define their life or death, after all, my understanding of their life forms is limited. But..." Alec raised his hand and took out a half-meter-long worm.

Like the other worms floating outside, this red worm remained motionless no matter how much Alek touched or kneaded it.

"They may not be dead yet, but they no longer respond to external stimuli. I call this state inactivation. Inactivated red worms are more stable. As long as you can see it and be aware of its existence, you can use its power. You could say they are a kind of idealistic existence."

"An idealistic existence? This overturns my common sense about witchcraft." Thor reached out to touch the red worm, but only touched air.

But clearly, Alec next to him was still holding the red worm's shell with his hand.

"Did you use some special power to touch it?"

Alec shook his head. "Think about it again."

Is it because of the power of idealism?

Thor raised his hand again, and just as his fingers were about to touch the red worm, he told himself something.

"Yes, I can touch it."

The finger continued to move closer, and then...

Still nothing.

Alec smiled. "It seems you need to do more mental preparation. Simply telling yourself it exists isn't enough."

Thor is now genuinely interested in the Red Worm. It can be said to be a species outside the two power systems of magic and psychic power.

Moreover, considering the red worm's ability to conceal itself and its ability to fight the Black Tide, Thor made up his mind.

"Does the Stargate Council have any other use for these inactivated insects?"

The inactive red worms scattered everywhere like trash in the Hidden World side looked like unmanageable junk.

Alec scrutinized Thor intently. "You want these inactivated insects?"

"Actually, I want both the deactivated and inactivated bugs, but I can't control the inactivated bugs right now. If I find a way, I might just go outside and catch some."

"What will you use to exchange?" Ali asked bluntly.

Thor crossed his arms and thought, "Since they're just thrown here, and there are so many of them, they're probably not very useful. I won't use my trump card yet."

He took out a sorcery notebook from his spatial plaque and held it in his hand. "You know, I have some experience in treating the Black Tide pollution. This is a magic array that can make the Black Tide lose its pollution ability within a certain range. I call it the Corruption Formula."

"Inactivation, inertization... it seems our ultimate goals are aligned." Alec pulled another half-meter-long inactivated red worm in front of Thor. "I agree to this deal. But, can you take it with you? If it's inconvenient, you can study it here; I'll reserve a few labs for you."

"Is this an excuse to keep Byron here after already keeping him?"

Thor looked at the red worm in front of him.

It has to be said that Alec is quite good at business; he's trying to bind people together by using interests and desires.

However, Thor didn't say anything, but suddenly raised his hand, grabbed the red worm's mouthparts, pulled it in front of him, and shook it twice.

The motionless red worm swayed slightly with Thor's force, but was not shaken off.

Thor looked up and met Alec's surprised gaze. "No need to prepare a lab for me. I've already caught it."

Alec slowly narrowed his eyes, revealing an enigmatic smile. "You learn very quickly. In some ways, you're quite similar to Gorsa. It's a pity he died in the Eye of the Abyss; otherwise, I really want to see the day you surpass him."

Thor lowered his eyes and said calmly, "I always believed that my mentor would return."

The scrutinizing gaze didn't disappear until Thor left the hidden side of the stargate.

Thor cleared his mind, trying not to think about anything, and carried the dead worm, which looked like a dead fish, back to the observatory.

There were other people on this floor at this time, but although they saw Thor, they did not react at all.

As if confirming Ali's words, the Stargate Council has now set up no barriers. Everyone who joins their experiments does so voluntarily for their own benefit.

But is that really the case?

Saul was in no hurry to draw a conclusion.

After he emerged from the Stargate World, he sensed Byron's location.

The senior student hadn't gone far; he was just a few floors below the observatory.

This time, Thor made no attempt to conceal his magical energy fluctuations and leisurely walked back to the ground.

He had one hand in his pocket and the red worm he had just acquired in the other. "I'll find a live worm later and compare the differences. Ideally, I'll be able to analyze what Stargate gained during the red worm's inactivation."

Alek didn't tell Thor how to deactivate the red worms; this was clearly the experiment the Stargate Council valued most. And the most valuable part of this experiment was what was extracted from the worms from their life to their death.

Thor went outside the observatory and waited for Byron to come out and find him after completing his mission.

But instead of Byron, he was greeted by someone else.

"Thor, what are you doing here so suddenly?" Jeffrey called out to Thor, walking over excitedly. "I passed the initial selection, but they said I still need to undergo training with a formal wizard before I can officially join the Stargate Council."

Jeffrey looked proud.

He excitedly asked Saul, "And you?"

Thor wore an indifferent smile. "I'm most likely not going to be able to join the Stargate Council."

Jeffrey was somewhat pleased, but he had to carefully control his excitement. He comforted Thor, "It's alright. Even if you can't join Stargate, you can try staying in the Duchy of Olga. Stargate headquarters is nearby, and the research atmosphere here is quite strong. If you stay here, your chances of advancing to a Level 3 Wizard Apprentice are definitely higher than if you return to the continent of State."

After Jeffrey was called away by the others, the silver butterfly mocked, "Brother Thor, you've been comforted. Strange, couldn't he see that the magical fluctuations on your body were off?"

Thor watched Jeffrey's retreating figure. "It is a bit strange."

He squinted, intently observing Jeffrey's retreating figure.

Finally, Saul spotted a splash of red on Jeffrey's collar.

A red worm the size of a thumb had appeared on his neck.

Looking closely, the red worm should be longer than a thumb, but Thor can't figure out exactly how long it is right now.

Because the worm's head had burrowed under Jeffrey's skin, buried no matter how deep.
