Chapter 928 The "History" of the Wizard's Tower

Chapter 928 The "History" of the Wizard's Tower

The three arrived at the second wizard tower.

The defensive magic array that Maria once set up still surrounds this wizard's tower. The half-open door is now closed.

"Lord Thor, Lady Cleo, please wait here for a moment while I go in and activate the Wizard Tower. Lord Thor did not sign the Crystal Central, so I need to act as an intermediary to control the Wizard Tower."

Haili stepped forward, gently pushed the door open, and then walked into the darkness.

Claire leaned closer and said, "Do you think he has some kind of relationship with Wizard Murphy? Otherwise, how come a wizard apprentice seems to know everything and can even operate a wizard tower?"

"I suspect..." Thor looked at the tall, slender wizard tower in front of him, "that he might be a descendant of the fourth-tier wizard who died here."

Thor noticed that when Hely spoke of the fourth-order wizard who died here, he did not speak in a bystander's tone.

Inside the Wizard Tower, Haili carefully cast a Fluorescent Spell, a level 0 spell that almost any apprentice could learn.

But his magic had a different effect in this wizard's tower. A pale white light suddenly left his palm and drifted forward like a firefly.

Haili quickly followed and went downstairs to the lowest level where the third-tier wizard had died.

The fireflies floated there for a while, and Haili smiled wryly, "Are you trying to talk about the cause of death of the last third-tier wizard? But I don't understand it either."

The fireflies gave up and continued to drift forward.

Haley muttered to himself as he walked alone through the wizard's tower. He seemed much more relaxed. "We can only wait for Lady Maria's investigation results. Hopefully, it won't affect the Black Tide in a few days."

The sudden death of a third-tier wizard at the onset of the Black Tide could easily cause chaos. Fortunately, there are currently two fourth-tier wizards guarding the Wall of Sighs; otherwise, the wizards stationed at the rear wizard towers would be in a state of panic.

He entered the still-uncleaned laboratory. The contents here would be sealed and handed over to the Wall of Sighs. Since the deceased wizard had not designated an heir, the materials and supplies he left in the laboratory would later be distributed to other wizards as rewards for guarding the Wall of Sighs.

Haili didn't even glance at the materials that were of great value to him, and walked straight to the back of the room.

Inside this small laboratory, a separate small room has been partitioned off.

The room was unlocked, and Haili easily pushed open the door to the cubicle.

The room was empty except for a one-meter-tall crystal pillar. Upon closer inspection, the crystal pillar was made of a similar material to the central crystal of the Wailing Wall.

The fluorescent light entered the crystal pillar, causing it to glow faintly. Then, Haili stepped forward and placed his hand on the cross-section of the crystal pillar, infusing it with magic.

The next second, the crystal pillar began to glow, illuminating the entire compartment.

Then, like a spark igniting a prairie fire, the entire wizard tower gradually lit up from the very bottom.

Haili didn't linger. Letting the light behind him sway, he turned around and quickly returned to the top of the tower—the entrances to the wizard towers on the Storm Sea were all at the top.

"Lady Thor, Lady Cleo, the Wizard Tower is now activated. You may enter."

Thor turned to Claire and said, "Look, it's as if he holds the key to this wizard's tower."

Thor then stepped forward and entered the wizard tower.

This is my second time entering this wizard's tower, and it feels quite different from before.

Previously, he had followed Maria around like a tourist, but this time he had become a temporary tenant.

No matter how long he stays, he has temporarily become the master of this place.

Thinking that this wizard tower was made up of black tide monsters and dead fourth-tier wizards, Thor couldn't help but raise his hand to touch the wall beside him as he went down the stairs.

He casually touched the wall, only to suddenly discover that Haili in front of him and Keli behind him had vanished in an instant.

"Hallucinations? Does not signing the Crystal Central mean you'll hallucinate when entering the Wizard Tower?"

Thor is no stranger to hallucinations.

"Penny, figure out where the hallucinations are coming from?"

"Alright!" The silver butterfly fluttered and danced, circling Thor twice, then said in surprise, "Huh? Why is this hallucination coming from you, Brother Thor?"

"Me?" Thor pointed to himself in surprise, but before he could ask, he suddenly felt something slide down behind him.

He quickly turned around and was shocked to see a black tail covered in scales extending down from the top-floor entrance.

Its black tail, like that of a python, was half a meter in diameter. It rolled down the stairs, leaving drag marks on the ground.

Looking at the marks on the ground, Thor immediately thought of the friction marks he had found when he last entered this wizard tower.

"Not a mermaid, but a snake?" Seeing the thick tail swinging towards him, Thor didn't dodge, but just stood there watching.

Then, the tail with sharp scales pierced Thor's body and continued to extend rapidly downstairs.

Thor turned to look down, and the tail that had passed through his body remained completely unaffected.

It was indeed a hallucination, and a harmless one at that.

"Could it be that I've witnessed the history of the Wizard's Tower? Isn't this the Nightmare Butterfly's power?"

"It's none of my business, Brother Thor."

"I know." Thor quickly followed. "Perhaps it's not that I want to see history, but that this wizard tower wants me to see its past."

Thor suddenly became excited. If this wizard tower really was conscious, would it show him the murderer who killed the third-tier wizard?

Thor had just gone halfway downstairs when he suddenly saw the tail that had been darting down the stairs return. The end of the tail curled up three times and pulled a person out.

That person was none other than the third-tier wizard who had died at the bottom of the wizard tower.

He was still alive and struggling, but something seemed wrong with his body. He was moving his arms and legs very slowly, but his expression showed great effort, as if his body was not obeying his commands.

The black tail carefully lifted the wizard as it dragged him along, as if afraid of hurting him.

"Could it be that this snake wasn't the killer?" In the illusionary history, Thor couldn't use magic, but he didn't care. He widened his eyes and quickly followed the tail and the third-tier wizard.

Is the attacker standing outside the door right now?

Thor quickened his pace and reached the top of the tower before the tail.

However, when he arrived outside the wizard's tower, he still did not see the murderer.

The black, scaly tail stretched from the top of the tower all the way into the sea.

"What a long tail," Thor exclaimed, then jumped off the tower without hesitation.

However, the next second, he was back in the wizard tower.

Then Haili and Keli reappeared beside him.

Claire was still walking downhill when she noticed Thor suddenly stop. She quickly swerved to avoid bumping into his back.

"What's wrong?" Claire keenly noticed that Thor's mood had suddenly changed.

Hearing the sound, Haili, who was walking ahead, stopped and turned around.

However, Thor didn't have time to explain. He went straight back to the top of the tower, stood at the edge of the gate, and looked down at the sea.

The waves gently yet tirelessly lapped against the base of the Wizard's Tower.

The polluted seawater made it difficult for spiritual power to penetrate to very deep places.

Based on Thor's current observations, there are no monsters with extremely long snake tails on the seabed.

However, Thor did see the tail in the Wizard Tower's "past."

He tugged at his collar, stored his outermost robe into his storage device, and then leaped into the seemingly calm sea.
