Chapter 847 No cause of illness?

Chapter 847 No cause of illness?

The emotions on Royer's face came and went quickly.

But Thor could still sense the suppressed anger beneath the other's calm expression.

Thor knew that Roye looked down on mermaids and considered the entire race as trash.

But he didn't expect Royer to be so angry when he saw Alfonso and Pearl getting close.

"Is there some other conflict between them?"

After his gaze swept over the two people and the fish, Thor turned around and prepared to take off.

Then Penny's laughter could be heard again.

"Brother Thor, when you were looking at the other people, this little dwarf next to you was also observing you!"

Penny actually described Stuart like that!

Thor remained noncommittal.

He, Stuart, and Royer flew to the Red Sea according to the pre-assigned area.

After the three of them had exchanged hand signals, Alfonso patted Pearl on the head.

Pearl hesitated for a moment, then seemed to remember what she was going to do, and opened her pale little mouth.

Although the Little Mermaid opened her mouth, no sound came out.

Thor narrowed his eyes slightly and felt a wave of unstable mental energy emanating from Pearl and spreading towards the sea.

The seawater showed no reaction at first, but after about ten minutes, it began to ripple.

About ten minutes later, a mermaid surfaced, looking at the shore where the pearl was, her face showing a mixture of curiosity and longing.

The mermaid was located in the area that Roye was in charge of. He immediately raised his hand and gestured, and the mermaid was lifted out of the sea by an invisible hand.

The mermaid struggled in panic as soon as she left the water.

Royer didn't hold back, directly gripping the invisible hand. The mermaid didn't struggle for long before immediately fainting.

Thor quickly warned him, "Royer, don't kill him!"

Royer then released his grip, allowing the merman to catch his breath.

Next, the second, the third...

They looked in the direction of the pearl with curiosity and longing, and then were pulled out of the sea one by one by the three third-level wizards guarding the surface.

After about an hour, the group caught a total of 11 atavistic mermaids.

136 non-atavistic mermaids.

"Isn't Pearl only supposed to summon atavistic mermaids? Why did she bring so many?" Stuart asked, puzzled, as he tried to identify the different types of mermaids.

Thor was also selecting mermaids. "I think... it might not be Pearl's fault. These mermaids are generally not very intelligent. They probably saw some atavistic mermaids swimming towards the surface and followed them to watch the fun."

As he spoke, Thor kept looking at Pearl. Pearl had completed her task and was returned to the water. Beside her stood a coral with red hair.

The two mermaids looked at Thor and his companions in a comical manner as they selected a mermaid.

If you ignore their lower bodies and tails, they look like two beautiful women who have just come out of the bath.

Pleasant to the eye.

Royer smiled dismissively. "That's why we chose to use modified mermaids to absorb the Red Sea Tree's pollution. Controlling them with the bloodline of the mermaid royal family is very easy."

"The modified mermaids aren't as sensitive to the Kuroshio Current pollution, but they feed on the roots and stems of the Red Sea Tree, and there will always come a time when the pollution reaches its limit." Stuart looked at the withered mermaids scattered on the ground and suddenly asked, "What do you do then?"

"Of course," Royer slammed his right hand into his left palm with a thud, "compact the useless trash and throw it into the deep sea."

There's no such thing as protecting the marine environment in this world. In fact, the oceans here are beyond the protection of wizards.

After explaining the mermaids' ultimate fate, Royer deliberately glanced back at Alfonso, who was adjusting the potion. However, the latter completely ignored him, as if he hadn't heard him.

Including the original atavistic mermaids in the deep pool, there were a total of 22 atavistic mermaids present. The number is not large among hundreds of thousands of modified mermaids, but if they develop contamination diseases, they could potentially infect thousands or tens of thousands of mermaids around them.

It's still very dangerous.

Alfonso's use of the pearl to gather all the atavistic mermaids was a very wise move before the Black Tide arrived. It must have also been approved by the Tribunal.

Otherwise, Royer and Stewart wouldn't have both dropped what they were doing to come and help him.

At that moment, Alfonso walked over with the potion. "The primal mermaids in the vicinity should all be here. Later, I'll take the pearl to other seas to collect more mermaids."

Royer crossed his arms. "What, you want us to accompany you along the south coast?"

"No need," Alfonso shook his head expressionlessly. "You can go back after you finish your experiments today. The local resident wizards will cooperate with me afterwards. Besides, the only place where atavistic mermaids have been discovered so far is around here. The possibility of them being found elsewhere is slim, so you don't need to make a wasted trip."

Royer seemed to have thought of something, and a smile suddenly appeared on his face. He patted Alfonso on the shoulder and said, "Alright, then take your mermaid princess out for a stroll. Just don't forget to come back."

Thor remained silent, sensing that Royer's words had a hidden meaning.

Penny also mentally complained, "These two seem like friends, but they're really putting on a show."

Without responding to Penny, Saul stepped forward, took the potion prepared by Alfonso, and then walked toward the pearls and coral.

As previously agreed, he would conduct the Kuroshio contamination experiment on Pearl. However, because of Pearl's special status as a mermaid princess and her unique ability to summon other atavistic mermaids, Thor assured Alfonso that he would definitely remove the contamination from Pearl's body before the Kuroshio caused significant damage.

Arriving at Pearl's side, Coral watched from the side. Besides the two of them, Thor also had to take care of three mermaids.

The mermaids assigned to him all exhibited the most obvious atavistic characteristics. At least one-third of the scales on their tails were blue.

Of the five mermaids, Pearl and Coral exhibited higher intelligence.

Its appearance is also most in line with human aesthetics, without those strange fish features.

Without wasting any time, Thor used small algae to fix the five mermaids to the ground, and then injected them with the Kuroshio pollution source.

After completing the first step, Thor stepped back two paces to observe the reactions of the five mermaids.

There was no reaction.

An hour later, festering wounds began to appear on Coral's body. Coral, who hadn't felt anything at first, pouted and started to cry.

Seemingly seeing the coral cry, the pearl also began to shed tears.

The other three mermaids had not yet shown any unusual reaction, but seeing Pearl and Coral crying, they looked bewildered and began to shed tears as well.

The mermaids seemed to know that no one would care about their tears, so even when they cried, it was silent and quiet on their own... They never thought of asking anyone for help.

Thor, like a cold-blooded killer, stood by and let them cry, then occasionally checked the pollution on each mermaid.

When a blue scale fell off Pearl's tail, revealing a small wound underneath, Thor immediately stepped forward and cleansed the contaminant from her body. He also healed Coral in the process.

Pearl does not contract strange and terrible pollution diseases like coral, but her resistance to Kuroshio pollution is the lowest among atavistic mermaids.

"The more pronounced the atavism, the lower the resistance to the Kuroshio Current. But the corals infected with contamination disease have the lowest resistance. Corals have a lower blood concentration than pearls, yet they contracted contamination disease first. What exactly caused them to get sick?"

Thor walked up to Coral and lifted her chin.

Coral was forced to look up, her ruby-like eyes fixed on Thor, her eyes brimming with tears, but no longer overflowing.

She looked at Thor with no disgust or fear in her eyes, but rather a hint of curiosity.

Thor looked down at the coral, silently thinking, "I've tried so many methods, but I still can't find the cause... Could it be... there's no cause?"
