Chapter 800 The Tragedy of the Mermaid

Chapter 800 The Tragedy of the Mermaid

For the rest of the journey, Saul kept his eyes fixed on the lantern.

Lantern performed even more stably than Thor during the teleportation. Given Thor's mental strength, the only ones who could possibly surpass him in mental power were probably fourth-tier wizards.

And since the fourth-tier wizards associated with light are also members of the Tribunal, Thor couldn't think of anyone else besides Tribunal Chief Justice Flim.

The spatial shift finally stabilized, and the carriage came to a stop. The coachman outside was probably recovering from his physical discomfort.

The effects of long-distance teleportation arrays on the human body and mind are significant. Even with protective measures in place, Thor still experienced some mental turbulence during the long teleportation process.

The lantern opposite him remained stable. If Thor hadn't vaguely sensed a slight fluctuation of spiritual energy on the lantern when the magic circle was activated, he probably would have mistaken it for an ordinary object like a carriage.

"The Court Lord himself came to pick me up?" Thor asked tentatively.

Even after being recognized by Thor, the lantern's light remained warm and steady.

Frim didn't pretend he wasn't there; a mental energy entered Thor's mind, and a majestic yet somewhat ethereal voice automatically sounded.

"Nefertari mermaids must not be sold privately; those found doing so will be punished."

Thor immediately replied, "I stole this from someone else, so going to Neflet now is like returning it to its rightful owner."

Seeing that the lantern didn't speak, Saul decided to let the matter pass by.

"The judge isn't here just to fine me, is he?" Thor continued to probe the other party's attitude.

A spiritual message once again came from within the lantern.

"You managed to suppress and seal the eye of the storm on your own..."

Hearing this, Thor raised an eyebrow inwardly. "It's been a year. Could they be using this as an excuse to bring it up now?"

If the other party makes their intentions public, Thor can devise a targeted strategy, just like he meticulously planned to deal with Ophelia.

"...I need to determine if you have any potential contamination on you."

Thor immediately thought of the white bone at the tip of his right finger.

The contamination there directly "triggered" a third-tier wizard.

Saul didn't move, thinking that he had been with the lantern for almost a day, and slowly asked, feigning surprise, "Do you see any hidden pollution on me?"

"You have almost no of the pollution unique to the Black Tide on your body, making you even more suspicious. However, I will personally conduct a thorough examination after we reach Eternal Night."

personally?

The thing in front of me isn't actually the real person; it's more like a thought residing on it.

Regardless of whether he goes to the Tribunal again in the future, the fact that he wasn't facing a true fourth-tier big shot still put Thor at ease.

Having just escaped from Ophelia, he had no desire to immediately face another fourth-tier opponent.

Moreover, the Tribunal and Sky City are not the same.

Because of the power of the Tribunal and the Stargate Council, Ophelia's influence is mostly limited to Sky City, so she cannot hunt Thor all over the world.

But if he really angers the Tribunal, and no other fourth-order tribunal comes to his aid, then he will face arrest warrants and even a judgment order that can be issued worldwide.

Thor was actually quite curious about the ruling.

The wizards of the tribunal were once ordered to kill people with a decree, and most of the people killed had no clear reason. So what was the reason for issuing the decree?

It can't just be about excluding those who disagree with us.

But Thor didn't want to ask directly.

He then brought up, "The coachman outside said that the destination this time is not the Court of Judgment, but the Palace of Eternal Night."

Thor suddenly realized that perhaps one had to pass through the Palace of Eternal Night to reach the Tribunal, just like how he had returned to Stath to go to the continent of Neflet.

However, Flim's answer was completely different from what Saul had expected.

"I'm going to the Eternal Night Palace because I need your help with something."

The tribunal actually needs my help?

Thor looked surprised, but calmly asked, "What do you need me to do?"

"Please, Dr. Sol, treat the merfolk who have been corrupted by the Kuroshio Tide."

Flim emphasized the word "physician".

Thor chuckled. "So my reputation as a doctor has already reached Neflet? Well then, I won't be modest. I do have some experience with the pollution caused by the Black Tide."

"If you can solve the mermaid problem, the Tribunal will not let you work for nothing."

After delivering the message, the warm yellow light from the lantern suddenly disappeared, plunging the entire carriage into darkness. Thor could no longer sense Flim's presence.

He pushed the carriage door open a crack and watched the driver's back.

"How is your recovery going?"

"We can depart at any time, Your Excellency," the coachman replied immediately, turning slightly to the side.

Neither of them mentioned Flim, who had just left.

"Let's go then." Thor snapped his fingers, using a light spell to illuminate the carriage again.

Anyway, he didn't want to stay in the dark carriage until he entered the next long-distance teleportation array.

The Pegasus carriage did not take off, but moved steadily on the land, indicating that the teleportation array to the Neflet continent was not close to here.

Thor looked out through the partially closed car door and suddenly felt that the scenery in the distance was somewhat familiar.

"Which region of the continent of Stathe is this?"

"You should be very familiar with this place," the coachman said in a low voice. "This is one of the entrances to the No Man's Land, the Valley of the Dwarves."

Thor wasn't really familiar with the Valley of the Dwarves.

However, he knew that unlike the Elven Four Seasons Forest located on the side of the world, the Dwarf Valley was located in the main world.

The valley was deliberately transformed by the dwarves into an environment almost devoid of magic. Later, something unknown happened, and the number of dwarves dwindled until the surviving dwarves left the valley, turning it into a dead land.

However, I heard that someone saw a dwarf here, but the person was in a very abnormal state, like a walking corpse.

The witnesses at the time were not strong enough or well-prepared, and ultimately did not dare to chase after them, fearing that they might encounter something strange and suffer misfortune because they could not use witchcraft.

Thor was very curious, but he never had the time to go to the Valley of the Dwarves to find out.

Just then, Kate, the mermaid who had been lying quietly opposite, suddenly turned his face. His expression was very complicated, sometimes conflicted, sometimes indifferent, as if he had suddenly suffered a mental breakdown.

Seeing the change in Kate's expression, Saul silently closed the half-open car door and installed a soundproof barrier.

"Kate, what's wrong?" Thor's hand had turned into a semi-transparent gray tentacle, ready to subdue Kate, who seemed to be having problems.

Before Thor could even make a move, Kate's expression suddenly turned completely indifferent, and she silently glanced at Thor's arm.

Thor changed his hand back to its original state and felt that the other person's eyes were strangely familiar.

At this moment, a voice that did not belong to Kate rang out, "At the height of their glory, the dwarves almost turned the humans of this world into their slaves and workers. Who could have imagined that their current fate would be one of near extinction?"

Thor exclaimed in surprise, leaning forward to get closer to the mermaid.

"You are... Floco?"

The mermaid nodded calmly and said, "Although my strength has not yet recovered, I was once a fifth-order cultivator, so I can still send a part of my consciousness outside."

Thor's separated soul could only serve as experimental material; he had long been interested in Ophelia's method of splitting her consciousness and Pelle's method of leaving behind soul fragments with their own consciousness.

He asked curiously, "How did you manage to separate your consciousness as well? Is it the same way Ophelia created her separate entities?"

Floch shook his head slightly; clearly, he was much more skilled at controlling this body than Kate was.

"It's different. I was able to transfer my consciousness to this body because there really is a trace of my bloodline inside this monstrous mermaid."
