Chapter 729 The Cat Returns

Chapter 729 The Cat Returns

Kate, the orange cat, runs on all fours just like a real cat.

He meowed mournfully, tears streaming down his face.

"I hate this person! I hate this person!"

The orange cat, who had a special experience with a ghost, tried its best to hide from the shadows behind it.

If he were still in the body of that strong man, he might have been able to suppress his fear, but now his cat instincts forced him to be completely overwhelmed by the fear growing in his heart, and he only wanted to escape this place as soon as possible.

The surroundings grew increasingly dark.

He passed one street lamp after another, but still couldn't get out of the neighborhood.

The crescent moon overhead seemed to guide him on his path, or perhaps it was mocking his cowardice.

"Where am I? Why can't I get out?"

"The intelligence is wrong, the intelligence is wrong. Such a terrifying place could not possibly be a space created by a second-tier wizard's mutation."

At this moment, Kate deeply regretted agreeing to Whitebeard's request to come here together to find a way to open the gate within her body.

Even if he can't become a powerful third-tier wizard, he can still be a free second-tier wizard!

Even if he can't turn back into a human, he can still be a living cat!

"This road might not lead out. I must find another way out. Something's not right. Something's not right. The most unusual place might be the exit from here."

Kate stared wide-eyed, her pupils dilating to the size of her eyes.

Using the cat's enhanced dark vision, he looked to the left and right.

Ahead lies a road with no end, behind lies a shadow that cannot be shaken off.

Kate considered that perhaps she could enter the houses on either side.

But when he finally managed to make out his surroundings, he was horrified to discover that despite running for so long, the surrounding buildings hadn't changed at all.

However, when he first observed it, the buildings on both sides of the road were of different heights and arranged in a staggered manner.

There are no completely identical, repetitive street scenes.

But now, he finds himself running for so long, yet it feels like he hasn't taken a single step at all.

He still remembers that there was a strangely shaped building a dozen meters to his left, and now that building is a dozen meters to his left.

It's exactly the same location as where Kate ran away!

"Is the road here regressing? Or is there something wrong with my mind?"

"And the ghost behind me..."

Kate's four paws were immediately pinned to the spot, and her fur stood on end, making her look like a spiky ball!

He wanted to turn around to see if there were any ghosts behind him, but he didn't dare to move or turn around.

Because he was afraid that if he turned around, that terrifying ghostly figure would be right behind him!

But if he doesn't look, doesn't turn back, and isn't certain, this fear will stick to his back like a leech, and he'll never be able to get rid of it!

Kate had no choice but to prick up her cat ears and try to listen to what was happening behind her.

He heard the sound of wind.

whoosh whoosh whoosh...

It looked as if a huge cloak had been blown up by the wind.

And the sound was getting closer and closer, almost reaching his back and brushing against the hair on his back.

"Meow!"

Kate shuddered and dared not look back. Knowing he couldn't run forward, he blindly chose a direction and ran into the buildings on either side.

He had only taken two steps when he suddenly realized that his feet were not touching the ground.

After kicking his legs a few times in the air due to inertia, he realized that he had been lifted more than a meter into the air.

"Found you, Kate the Wizard."

Is it the new guy?

Kate immediately turned around excitedly.

But when he turned around and saw the person holding him by the scruff of his neck, the cat's face contorted in terror!

The guy who was pulling him along, making the voice of a black-blade wizard... was actually a skeleton!

The skeleton in front of me was entirely black, with not a single piece of flesh on its body.

In the hollow eye sockets of his skull, it seemed as if gray flames were burning.

Only his left hand, which wasn't holding Kate's, was white, covered by a transparent, skin-like substance.

"Meow—woof—"

The orange cat cried out more and more pitifully, kicking its limbs desperately, trying to escape from the black skull's grasp.

But the struggling orange cat Kate didn't realize that what was truly terrifying wasn't the black skeleton in front of him, but the translucent tentacles extending from beneath his mage's robes.

Most of the tentacles reached behind Thor and wrapped around every street lamp he passed.

Only two tentacles seemed to be curiously reaching forward and scraping the small fleshy pads that Kate stretched out in front of her.

Thor was puzzled as he looked at the orange cat in front of him, who was in a state of panic and on the verge of collapse.

The other party is, after all, a second-tier wizard—even though he has turned into a cat—but surely he shouldn't be so afraid of skeletons?

Seeing that the other party was about to be terrified into a breakdown and mutation, and that his mental body was becoming increasingly unstable, Thor had no choice but to retract most of his tentacles, and his face grew back with flesh and blood, restoring his original appearance.

"Kate the Wizard, if you can't calm down, I can help you."

As Thor spoke, a black blade appeared at the tip of his left finger.

"Black Blade... Wizard?" The orange cat was forced to turn around again, and after seeing Thor's appearance clearly, it finally calmed down.

Of course, what truly confirmed Thor's identity was the spiritual energy that emanated from Thor when he unleashed his magic.

Kate is currently unusually sensitive to mental energy.

Seeing that the orange cat in his arms had finally stopped struggling, Thor put Kate back on the ground.

"Kate the Wizard, here's a piece of advice: resolve the issue of being trapped in cat form as soon as possible, or your spiritual body will collapse sooner or later."

Kate didn't heed Saul's advice. After being put on the ground, she secretly glanced at Saul and muttered, "Didn't turn into a shadow, didn't turn into a shadow."

Thor knew that Kate must have encountered some people or things at the Upside-Down Tree, and they all ended up as ashes.

It scared the cat half to death.

"Kate the Wizard, I must say, this place really is a no-no for you."

Kate initially wanted to be defiant, but considering that Thor had seen everything he had just done, she could only nod listlessly.

"Yes, my nerves are extremely sensitive in this state, and this place has a special effect of stirring up people's deepest fears, so I..."

He ultimately couldn't bring himself to say "I'm too scared."

"But from another perspective, this characteristic of yours is not bad either."

What's so good about it!

Kate the orange cat almost meowed again to express her indignation.

Thor crossed his arms and looked around at the surrounding high-rise buildings.

These skyscrapers look like three-dimensional buildings, but if you stare at them for a long time, you get the vague feeling that they are all drawn on paper.

Thor looked again at Kate, the orange cat who was clearly unhappy, and said gently, "Of course it's the monster-gathering attribute."

Kate froze, almost letting out another meow.

"What...what are you going to do?"

"I saved you, you should be grateful, right? Haven't you heard of a cat repaying a debt of gratitude?"
