Chapter 698 Causality

Kismet looked at Thor with a somewhat complicated expression.

"Yes, my brother, Master."

The two figures disappeared at the same time, and reappeared at the top of the Spirit Cleansing Wizard Tower.

"You've already discovered so much information just by getting your hands on the diary?" Kismet breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing Thor's blunt words. "My lovely little brother, you really are perfect to be the new owner of this diary."

"The deal you're going to make with me is to help me get rid of the diary completely, is that right?" Kismet had already guessed some of it and asked in return.

"That's right." Thor nodded. "I don't know how the original controller of the diary sealed a part of your soul inside it, but I do have a way to help you get that part of your soul back."

Saul stretched out his hand, flipping through the diary pages rapidly until he reached the last page.

After the fourth black page was turned over, a fifth black page suddenly appeared where the bottom cover of the book should have been.

Unlike the previous pages, this page looks like it has been torn in half, leaving only half.

But this half-page is completely different from the other black pages with rough edges.

It is like obsidian carefully cut, crystal clear, and has the elasticity of metal.

Thor flicked his finger lightly on it, producing a clear and melodious sound like a string being plucked.

"The wizard who created the Death Wizard's Diary is truly remarkable, controlling consciousnesses as powerful as yours. However, to me, while you are powerful, you are uncontrollable and no longer suitable to reside within my diary, which is entirely mine."

Thor gently shook the black pages in his hand, his gaze following Kismet's movements.

"Besides, if I continue to control you with this black page, I'll only be devoured by your loss of control, right?"

Kismet stroked his chin. Now that Thor had discovered the truth, he no longer needed to think about how to fool Thor.

Sometimes, being more sincere and straightforward can lead to greater efficiency in getting things done.

"Alright, you already know pretty much everything. So, what do I need in exchange for my freedom?"

After saying that, Kismet sat down directly, resting his elbows on his knees and his chin on the back of his hands.

He was waiting for Saul to make an offer.

"Of course, it's in exchange for something of equal value." Thor put away the diary, which disappeared from his hand as if it had never existed. "You help me advance to the fourth rank, and you, as a fourth-rank wizard, will regain your freedom."

Kismet: "..."

He really wanted to ask Thor where these two things were equivalent.

However, judging from Thor's appearance, he probably had no room for negotiation.

"Then let's sign the contract." Kismet's smile returned. "Otherwise, how can I trust you?"

Kismet was truly bewildered and stunned by Thor's actions this time.

Even when he had grasped the half of the black page that sealed his soul, he couldn't believe what was happening before his eyes.

"Why...?"

Things that had been yearned for for hundreds of years, and souls that were thought to be planned for decades more, had so easily returned to my hands.

Unlike the ecstatic joy he felt when the chains snapped, Kismet now felt only...emptiness.

It all felt like a dream, and I would wake up in the blink of an eye.

"For no reason," Saul said calmly. "I've done my part in the deal, and now it's your turn to slowly fulfill your promises."

"I haven't agreed yet."

Kismet pouted, and his tense back slumped down.

Although he didn't verbally agree, his hand tightly gripped his half of the black page.

Thor was not as relaxed as he appeared.

What he just threw out was probably worth half a piece of no man's land.

He looked at Kismet and slowly narrowed his eyes.

In his eyes, he himself once again became a complex and tangled ball of light, while a semi-transparent ray of light also appeared tremblingly on Kismet's body. Hesitantly, yet without choice, it extended towards Thor and connected with one of the ends of Thor's ray of light.
