Chapter 626 Layers of Illusion
Chapter 626 Layers of Illusion
The face that Thor pulled off the ground revealed a twisted smile, its features already distorted, yet it didn't seem to care at all.
"Welcome to my manor, little toy. You're the most interesting one I've met in all these years."
"Oh, am I a toy? Then what are the others outside?"
"It's a toy that doesn't mean much."
This witch's sanity has probably been lost along with the initial alienation she underwent.
"If the anomaly in this manor was caused by the eye of the storm, then it is very likely that it was caused by the original owner."
"But now there are obvious abnormalities above the manor, and they are even affecting my emotions."
The strange phenomena in front of us and the chaotic fluctuations overhead could both be caused by the eye of the storm.
Thor decided to test the witch in front of him first before considering the cause of the chaos above.
He began to slowly exert force on the witch's tentacles, stirring them deeper into her flesh from her face.
If someone who didn't know the situation saw this, they might think Saul was a terrifying serial killer.
The witch offered no resistance; judging from her expression, she seemed to enjoy the feeling of being penetrated.
Soon, Thor discovered the same contamination from the Black Tide within the witch's body.
But within this pollution, there are many other chaotic things.
"Negative emotions...confusion...lack of consciousness...the pollution on this witch is so complex."
A mixture of gray, dark green, and black substances was sucked into Thor's tentacles, where they simultaneously corroded each other within the translucent tentacles.
"She wasn't corrupted by the Kuroshio Current. It's more like she was corrupted first, and then further eroded by the Kuroshio Current."
However, the level of corruption and chaos surrounding the witch seems unworthy of the word "eye of the storm," which foreshadows destruction.
As the contaminants were gradually extracted by Thor, the witch's previously crazed gaze slowly calmed down.
She no longer looked at Thor with the condescending attitude one would have when admiring a toy. Her eyes now held a bewildered look, as if she were waking from a dream.
"I...you...why can you bring some of my sanity back?"
The witch's half-rotten face slowly rose from the black filth, barely managing to poke out half of her body before collapsing helplessly to the ground.
"The fact that the pollution on your body can be removed separately means that your alienation is not entirely irreversible. If you listen to me, perhaps I will consider helping you regain your sanity."
The witch opened her mouth and touched her cheeks with both hands, as if trying to reclaim her existence.
Suddenly she chuckled softly.
"So, I haven't completely transformed yet. But this was told to me by a strange wizard."
Thor frowned and crouched down. "What exactly caused your mutation? Is it related to the Eye of the Storm in No Man's Lands? Do you even know what the Eye of the Storm is?"
However, the witch had never heard of the term "eye of the storm."
Her dazed eyes revealed a hint of confusion.
"I don't know what you're talking about. My research failed, my magic backfired, and I was terribly corrupted. But when I turned into a monster, not a single one of my friends or servants came to my rescue! They were all thinking about leaving the manor before I completely lost control!"
"Ha! I could still speak and see back then, but they ignored the fact that I was still sane and actually sealed the entire room."
The witch's eyes held an undisguised resentment.
If those people were to appear before her again, the witch might tear them apart.
"My body has melted and I can't control it, but my mind hasn't completely mutated. I keep pleading in the room, hoping they can come back and save me."
"They could have saved me with just one potion and one magic purification, but instead they chose to seal me away, convinced of my madness and alienation, and wouldn't even spare a single eye to properly examine my condition!"
"You have no idea what it feels like to be unable to move, unable to speak, and surrounded by nauseating hallucinations... to slowly die in unbearable agony!"
"I don't know how much time passed, but just when I was about to give up, other people entered my manor and even sent someone to break the seal. I thought I had finally gotten a chance to call for help."
The witch gave a bitter laugh, but it quickly turned into a hysterical, maniacal laugh.
"I was too naive. Someone labeled as contaminated, someone turned into a pile of dried-up flesh—how could they believe I was an ordinary person?"
The witch looked at Thor, and her despair and pain gradually subsided.
"They completely ignored me, left, and even reinforced the seal. My painful, feeble screams became their bragging rights!"
The witch's body was still rising, and she was already able to straighten her body.
"Until one day, I suddenly woke up," the witch began to laugh. "My power had increased. Everything in the manor obeyed my commands. It was as if I had returned to my most powerful self."
"No, I'm even stronger now than before!"
She looked at Thor, her eyes bloodshot, her pupils so large they almost filled the entire whites of her eyes.
"You're nothing more than my newest toy!"
The witch moved, seemingly about to approach Thor.
Thor suddenly raised a hand. "What do you think of this toy of mine?"
The witch was stumped by Thor's question. Her limited intelligence couldn't understand why Thor asked that question, but she answered instinctively.
"You are a fun toy."
Thor withdrew his hand, and even the arm that had turned into an octopus tentacle on the ground retracted into his sleeve, turning back into a human arm.
"I understand." Thor looked at the witch and actually touched her dark face with his hand. "Actually, the space I'm in now isn't a real space either. This is also your toy room, and we are all just toys being manipulated by you."
The witch's expression changed, as if she wanted to say something more.
However, the basement where the two were suddenly shook violently.
But this time the impact didn't come from the room above.
It's the outside world!
Thor clearly sensed that an extremely powerful being had entered this space.
The whole world seemed to be trembling.
If this is a dream, then this dream is about to shatter because of the intervention of an extremely unstable force!
A third-tier wizard has entered!
Thor's expression turned serious. He knew that it must be Pelle's side that had made a move!
However, they haven't yet confirmed the exact existence of the eye of the storm.
Could it be that this isn't the eye of the storm, but rather the source of chaos and malice emanating from above his head?
If Thor and his group entering this manor was like a pebble thrown into a lake, causing ripples, then a powerful third-tier being was like a brick smashing into a mirror, shattering it into pieces.
Soon, the entire space trembled once again.
The scene before Thor's eyes suddenly began to distort and tremble as if there was a bad signal.
For a few seconds, Saul seemed to see that he was not in an empty little house with the windows sealed off, but in a room filled with clutter.
There were metal shelves lying haphazardly at my feet, and tables and chairs twisted and deformed from being knocked down in front of me.
There were large amounts of blood splatter marks on the walls and floor.
It was as if a terrible battle had once taken place here.
Behind the crooked table and chairs lay a corpse with only half of its upper body remaining.
That half of the body was also a bloody mess, as if it had been gnawed on by something.
The corpse lying on the ground had the same face as the witch from before!
The scene before my eyes flickered again, transforming back into an empty room with all the windows sealed off.
Thor closed his eyes. In the last scene that flashed back, he saw a huge rat in that messy room, its mouth stained with a lot of blood.
I missed it yesterday, so painful.
