Chapter 620 The Thief

Chapter 620 The Thief

Brando was the second to last to enter the old manor.

As soon as he entered, he found that the world here seemed to have changed, and the people frozen in place in front of him made his heart pound with fear.

"These people?" He immediately dismissed his earlier guess. "No, it's impossible that they're all in trouble. This isn't the Abyss."

He quickly regained his composure and scanned the entire manor again, only to be surprised to find that Thor was nowhere to be seen!

"He's the only one not stuck here? What happened?"

Thor seemed to have escaped the door-opening attack, which gave Brando a slight sense of relief.

"If Thor can do it, I should be able to too." Brando still had three bodies in his baggage, as he had brought almost all his belongings with him when he ran away.

"I wonder where Thor came from to enter the old manor." Brando looked around and suddenly noticed the footprints on the ground.

"These footprints lead directly into the manor! Only Thor wasn't trapped outside; the path he took led into the manor."

Brando squinted, preparing to follow Thor's path.

However, as soon as he stepped onto the decaying steps, he suddenly felt someone grab his calves.

"I've caught them, now it's time for..."

Before the little girl could finish speaking, Brando's head "whooshed" off his body and flew into the air.

The little girl stopped halfway through her sentence, her face grim, her eyes filled with resentment as she stared at the head that had flown into the air.

"You're cheating."

Brando ignored the little girl and focused on his own physical condition.

Sure enough, after the little girl touched his body, a numb sensation began to spread upwards from the soles of his feet.

If he had hesitated even slightly, he probably would have been frozen in place as well.

"There's something wrong with this little girl."

Brando flew through the air, opened his mouth, and a dark shadow suddenly shot out from his mouth, hitting the little girl on the head.

"Crack!"

The little girl's head immediately split into four pieces, and a cloud of dust splattered out from the skull.

However, the little girl's mouth was still moving, making "giggle giggle" sounds.

"Got you? Got you? Now it's your turn to be the ghost!"

Brando instantly knew he was in trouble. The next second, he found himself in a magnificent hall.

Brando suddenly felt a heavy weight in his hands, and when he looked down, he realized he was holding a huge wine tray.

On the wine tray were a dozen or so crystal goblets filled with amber liquid.

He actually became a bartender in the banquet hall.

"What are you standing there for? Go and serve the guests their drinks! If any guest runs out of drinks, you'll become their new wine glass!"

Brando was suddenly pushed, and although he didn't feel much force, he involuntarily staggered forward two steps.

"My power is gone." He instinctively protected the tray in his hands, preventing the wine glass from falling.

Just then, an elegant man in a purple tuxedo approached, carrying a wine glass. He looked at Brando and chuckled, "Did you anger that little girl? Why is everyone else a VIP, and you're just a bartender?"

Kismet laughed heartily, his silver bangs fluttering in front of his eyes, making no attempt to hide his schadenfreude.

Brando wasn't familiar with Kismet, but he knew the man's name.

"Perhaps I angered the owner of this place." He thought disdainfully, after all, he had managed to escape once, but he didn't expect that his attack on the little girl would be considered as contact, leading to his capture again.

Next time, run immediately, without stopping or counterattacking.

"Do any of you who came in earlier know what's going on here?" Brando asked Kismet in a low voice, wanting to see if they had discovered any new rules.

"So far, the only thing we've discovered is that we have to play our roles well, or we'll be kicked out by the host of the banquet."

Kismet held the wine glass to his lips, his eyes crinkling, this time his smile was more subtle.

"That blue-haired wizard with the monocle insisted on going upstairs despite the butler's attempts to stop him, and now he's been kicked out of the hall. I wonder where he went."

"housekeeper?"

"The woman in the black tuxedo and top hat... I wonder where she is now. But you're a bartender, maybe you could check out the kitchen or something."

The hall was bustling with people, and Brando quickly found everyone. Five minutes later, the butler that Kismet had mentioned brought in the last short wizard to enter the second tier.

Brando recognized the man; his name was Durut. He had shrunk by a third due to a failed witchcraft experiment. This was probably the first time in his life he had worn formal attire.

It looks like they can't even walk properly anymore.

But Durant waited a few more minutes and still didn't see Sol.

He couldn't help but ask Kismet, who had just returned from inviting a lady to dance, "Did you see that young wizard who came in behind you?"

Kismet, who seemed to have forgotten why he came in, paused in his smile. "You mean Thor?"

"You know him too?"

"The Spirit Cleansing Wizard Tower has quite a reputation," Kismet chuckled, then his smile faded. "I've never seen him. Never. None of the guests, servants, or even the mistress who only appears occasionally here are Thor."

Brando remembered Thor, the only one who hadn't appeared outside the manor, but he didn't tell Kismet about it.

"I'll go look for it."

Being a bartender also has its advantages. He won't arouse suspicion no matter where he goes.

Brando walked around the hall carrying a tray of wine, but was stopped by the butler when he was about to go up the circular staircase at the back of the hall.

"Unless the lady requests otherwise, we cannot go up."

"Feel sorry."

Having learned from the blue-haired wizard's example, Brando didn't linger and left directly.

But just as he turned around, he heard footsteps clattering down the stairs.

The voice was very urgent, completely out of character for the relaxed and cheerful atmosphere of the hall.

Brando immediately turned around and saw a woman who looked exactly like the butler and dressed exactly the same as her, anxiously walking up to the middle of the stairs.

She shouted undignifiedly into the noisy hall, "Enemy attack! Enemy attack! Someone has broken into the manor!"

The music in the hall stopped abruptly, and all the guests stared in astonishment at the staircase.

But the wizards who were inexplicably dressed up as guests were secretly delighted.

They had all temporarily lost their ability to cast spells in this hall, which was why they couldn't even go up to the second floor.

Now that someone else has barged into the manor, this boring ball is finally starting to change things up!

Lucy immediately abandoned her dance partner and followed the crowd toward the circular staircase.

"Who has broken into the manor?"

"Are they robbers?"

People stood in the hall, looking up at the butler, and began to ask questions.

"It's an uninvited thief!" The butler's face was grim, veins bulging on his forehead. "He stole our lady!"
