Chapter 616 The Temperamental Little Algae

Chapter 616 The Temperamental Little Algae

Thor agreed to go exploring with Redbeard and the others. This was slightly different from his initial plan, but upon reflection, it wasn't a bad idea.

Whether Ophelia can truly help Pereira defeat Clark is anyone's guess. And as long as the Nightmare Butterfly remains with Thor, Clark, who specializes in Nightmare powers, will not let Thor go.

Although he had prepared a backup plan, it was uncertain when and how Clark would deal with him.

Since that's the case, why not do what we did with West Germany back then, proactively create opportunities, lay out our own traps, jump in, and pretend to be the cheese that triggers the mechanism?

However, the incident happened suddenly, and Saul needed to go back and prepare.

But Redbeard looked at Thor and didn't really believe that he would give in and be willing to go into the old manor with the others.

He turned around, intending to have the blue-haired man with the monocle follow Thor, but saw that the dried-up corpse had somehow dropped the mushroom man in its hand and was now sticking close to Thor's back.

The distance between the two was less than thirty centimeters, which is already an offensive distance between strangers.

Thor also noticed the mummified sorcerer standing behind him, frowned, and asked the red-bearded man, "With so many of you, are you afraid I'll run away?"

The red-bearded man chuckled nonchalantly, "Of course I'm afraid. Who knows if you have any spatial magic items? After all, you're... Gorsa Wizard's favorite student."

How did they know who I am?

However, this identity clearly did not bring him any preferential treatment.

That's true, these people are from the Tribunal; it's good enough that they're not targeting Gorza.

"Wait, am I being targeted?"

Anyway, Thor wasn't planning on running away, so if they wanted to follow, they could.

He whispered to the mummy wizard behind him, "Stay with me and don't wander off. Although it's my wizard tower, it was inherited from Master Gorsa after all, and there might be deadly traps somewhere."

The mummy wizard tilted his head, his empty eyes gleaming silver, as if he didn't care about Thor's threat at all.

However, he moved slightly away from Thor as he took a step. The two went from being "inseparable" to "just a step away".

They entered the wizard's tower and descended to the first basement level.

The seemingly harmless spirit Camus was sitting idly in the sealed magic circle, bored because no one had been discussing things with her lately.

Saul's appearance drew her attention, but the stranger who followed made her frown slightly.

Camus remained silent, though his gaze followed Thor's movements.

The mummy sorcerer also noticed the spirit imprisoned here and seemed quite interested, his gaze remaining fixed on Camus ever since he entered.

Neither of them spoke.

One who never speaks except when discussing knowledge.

The other mummy was unable to speak, as its vocal cords were likely rotten.

Thor ignored the two people behind him and went to the entrance to the second basement level—a large hole in the corner of a room on the first basement level.

Little Algae has been recuperating on the second underground level these days. Recently, its appetite has become stronger. It no longer picks up strange fruits to eat, but instead focuses on absorbing death energy. Its entire tentacle has visibly grown larger.

Thor crouched beside the large hole, looking down at the enormous tentacles that were waving at the sky inside.

The Black Sea Tree source planted in the water in the corner has already sprouted.

The dark brown roots and grayish-black buds trembled slightly, like an innocent girl shrouded in countless trolls and demons.

Thor reached out his hand to the only relatively calm patch of mud within the area. "Little algae, come out."

Normally, when he calls out like this, Xiao Zao will immediately leave the mud and fly onto him.

But for some reason today, even after Thor called out twice, Xiao Zao didn't respond.

Thor was puzzled and was about to go down to take a look when he suddenly saw a dark shadow rushing towards him with lightning speed.

He immediately dodged backward and saw a black tentacle with a sharp, shark-tooth-like mouth slash past the tip of his nose.

"Little algae?!" Thor raised his hand and grabbed the tip of the tentacle below, as if he had grabbed the snake's vital spot.

With the index finger and thumb of the other hand, pinch the upper and lower jaws of Xiaozao's mouth together.

The tiny tentacles twisted and turned, unable to break free.

"Mmm..." Xiao Zao squirmed.

"Huh?" Byron, who had just come down from the laboratory, sensed something was wrong.

"Are you awake?" Thor slowly released Little Algae, who stopped attacking him and instead stuck out her little black tongue to lick Thor's fingers, as if apologizing to him.

"Little Algae has indeed become a bit irritable lately," Thor retracted his tentacles. "Is it because the eye of the storm is nearby, and it's also rooted underground, so it's been affected?"

Thor decided to keep the algae away from the underground for a while to prevent any unforeseen events.

The little algae slunk back into the back of Thor's neck, just as Byron walked over.

He glanced at the dried-up corpse following closely behind Thor, and gestured to Thor with his eyes, "Need any help?"

Although Byron was only a first-tier wizard, his elven skin had a captivating effect that could influence the mind, and could be used to help Thor defeat enemies if he was caught off guard.

However, Thor shook his head and did not allow Byron to participate.

"It's alright, senior. I'm going out for a bit. You can continue your research at home. If all goes well, I should be back in about two weeks."

Byron never asked questions; he nodded and unconditionally believed Saul.

With Little Algae in tow, Thor took a few more tools and potions from the lab table before turning to the mummy wizard who had been following him and saying, "Alright, we can set off now."

The two returned to the ground, and Redbeard was not surprised to see Thor obediently return.

The blue-haired man pushed up his monocle, scrutinized Thor, and, seemingly finding nothing unusual, released his grip.

"Let's go." The red-bearded man turned around first, and the others followed behind him.

The mummy wizard continued to follow Thor, seemingly determined to keep an eye on him.

"How should I address you all? When we enter the old manor later, I can't very well call you Redbeard, Blue Hair, and Mummified Corpse, can I?"

But the red-bearded man turned around and grinned, "Ha, you're quite right. Just call us that. We don't even know each other's names, we only use code names."

After saying that, he stepped out of the Inle Lake boundary and took off.

The blue-haired man didn't like to talk. He only glanced back at Thor before following the red-bearded man.

The dried-up corpse behind him didn't move, seemingly still waiting for Thor to go first.

"That mummy wizard is keeping a close watch. But having him around is some cover, though."

Without hesitation, Thor took off and caught up with the two red-bearded men ahead.

Then he heard a whooshing sound behind him, and the sound quickly approached him, with the two of them probably less than a meter apart.

Two hours later, they landed in front of the woods next to the old manor.

Somewhat surprisingly, this place was unusually lively.

Thor looked at the crowd of onlookers, which stretched out in layers, and couldn't help but twitch his lips.

"This Pei'er, wasn't she supposed to secretly leak the news so that the Firefly Master and the Dream Weaver would notice something was wrong? Now, it feels like it's become an open secret?"

I stayed up too late writing last night and actually fell asleep while sitting up. I'm very sorry, the text has been corrected now, I don't know if refreshing will show the revised version.

To express my apology, I will update at 3 PM today.

I'm off to write now.
