Chapter 582 Dissecting a Wild Beast

Thor was suddenly attacked by a purplish-black strip of meat, but for him, it was the end of his boring journey.

"Compare tentacles to mine?" Thor didn't move, but the small algae on the back of his neck suddenly burst out, splitting into ten in mid-air and quickly burrowing into the ground around Thor's body.

Thor felt the fleshy strips binding him loosen their grip on his legs and run downwards.

Thor pressed his hands on the ground and with a little force, pulled his leg out.

Looking at the large hole that kept sinking in the ground, he took two steps back and waited for Xiaozao to return.

A few breaths later, the sand beneath their feet began to tremble, and the rumbling sound caused the surrounding ground to shake.

The small algae taut, then pulled, slowly emerging from the ground.

A massive clod of earth was entangled in gnarled vines, gradually emerging from the ground. Dark gray dust cascaded down from the clod, forming waterfalls of sand.

Large amounts of dust filled the air, and visibility dropped to less than a meter for a moment.

Thor held his breath, squinted his eyes, and waited for the giant monster in the ground to reveal itself.

Finally, after most of the soil had been shaken off by the algae, a huge beast, three meters long, appeared inside the crisscrossing black vines.

This beast has a huge mouth and a relatively thin body and limbs. It looks as if only its mouth can still eat, while the other limbs are almost atrophied.

The purplish-red strip of flesh that once wrapped around Thor's right leg was its tongue.

The small algae, which had been tangled like a ball of yarn, quickly and efficiently retracted. The enormous beast immediately fell to the ground, kicking up another cloud of dust.

As soon as the beast landed, it tried to burrow into the ground, but Thor grabbed its tail and threw it over his shoulder.

Taking advantage of the beast's upside down, Thor jumped directly onto its white belly and stomped down on its huge mouth with one foot, preventing it from opening its mouth to attack Thor.

He had already figured it out. This beast usually hunted by vibrating its body, hiding under the sand. Except for its mouth, its other limbs were short and weak.

Even digging pits and ambushing relies on its mouth and its incredibly resilient and flexible tongue.

Just as Thor was about to examine the beast, the mental energy attached to the compass sent back a signal that the Chaotic Domain Compass had cooled down.

Saul glanced down and estimated the time; it should be less than a day, between 20 and 22 hours.

While Thor wasn't paying attention, the beast beneath his feet was patting the ground incessantly with its tiny limbs.

The rhythmic pattern suggests that the clapping is purposeful.

"Could it be calling for help from its companions? But these kinds of creatures shouldn't move very fast in a pack, right?"

After thinking for a moment, Thor decided not to wait for the second beast to appear and instead activate the Chaotic Compass to return to the Wizarding World.

Thor looked up and saw the mushroom forest in the distance and the wizard's tower nestled in the misty white fog.

"Good, nothing unexpected happened, you're back safely."

Thor lifted his foot, and the long-tongued monster that had ambushed him before returned with him.

It was completely still, and upon closer inspection, it was discovered that the other party was beyond dead.

Thor scanned the monster with his mental energy and discovered that it had many more active elemental particles inside its body.

"That's true. Just like there's water pressure underwater, there's also elemental pressure in places where the concentration of elemental particles varies greatly. "Hmm," Thor replied casually after examining the blood and flesh, "lying flat for too long."

He then began dissecting the heads of wild animals.

Its bones are hard, and its skull is somewhat similar to that of a snake, allowing it to swallow prey larger than its own head.

As he was dismantling it, Thor suddenly grabbed the beast's five dark purple tongues and slowly pulled them out along its throat.

The base of this beast's tongue was not in its mouth, but in its esophagus, connected by a grape-shaped sarcoma.

When Saul tried to cut the tumor off with a knife, he was shocked to find that the tumor was moving inside.

He put a protective layer on the lab table and then began to cut the tumor, but the sharp knife failed to leave a single wound on it.

Thor tried two more, even sharper tools, but still couldn't cut through the tumor.

The old witch extended a finger, the tip instantly transforming into a blade. "Do you need my help?"

Thor shook his head and said, "It's not a problem with the tools."

He snapped his fingers, and a black blade fragment appeared at his fingertips.

With a gentle stroke of his finger, the previously uncut tumor was easily separated like cheese, revealing a tofu-like texture inside.

Thor took out a stirring stick, stirred it in, and then held it up to his eyes.

"The substance inside doesn't seem to be completely inactivated yet." Thor wiped the substance from the stirring rod into a test tube and handed it to Agu. "Go test its basic properties. Also, make sure it's sealed tightly so the substance doesn't leak out."

Agu naturally knew where Thor had brought this beast back from, and said nothing, only nodding cautiously.

The old witch rolled her eyes.

Thor then looked at the remaining stirring rod in his hand and noticed that there seemed to be some black particles on it.

He extracted these particles and found that they crumbled at the slightest touch, turning into even finer powder.

This scene looks so familiar.

Thor immediately took out two small bottles from his person.

Both bottles contained black powder, one more and one less.

The two bottles contained sand from the chaotic area and airborne debris, respectively.

Saul used the available tools to perform a simple test on the three powders and found that their physical properties were surprisingly consistent.

"Is this organ in wild animals used to filter out black dust that enters their bodies?"

Suddenly, Saul's thoughts were interrupted by Camus.

Her eyes widened as she stared at the petri dish on Thor's table. "How could there be a dormant form of contaminant on that beast?"

"What?" Thor and the others turned around in surprise at the information in Camus's words.

Camus pursed his lips, a rare look of struggle on his face. "You can examine the contaminants you sealed with your tentacles. If they've been sealed long enough, they'll enter a dormant state. Then their form should match the black powder in your hand."

Thor: "...Damn it!"
