Chapter 556 The Abandoned Boy

Chapter 556 The Abandoned Boy

Is the only downside that it's expensive?

Thor sneered inwardly and continued telepathically, "Will I die from taking too much?"

Kismet raised an eyebrow. "Why would you think that?"

"Is that addictive?"

"While that state of mental clarity and extreme mental sharpness is indeed captivating, if you're talking about drug addiction, then no."

There were absolutely no side effects?

Why does Thor find this hard to believe?

Especially since these words came from the mouth of a schemer and a big liar.

Kismet could tell that Thor was suspicious again, and said helplessly, "The formic acid from the archback termite has been filtered by ordinary people to remove all toxicity before extraction. The formic acid used by wizards outside is non-toxic and diluted many times."

He took the candle that the girl had been holding for a long time from her, gave it to the magic crystal, and then stuffed it directly into Thor's pocket.

"Why don't you try it and see if you'll die?"

He said it directly.

The girl next to him immediately shrank back in fright.

Saul and Kismet stood at the entrance of the hall until the next guest came in, then they followed the girl and randomly found a table to sit down.

Kismet whispered something to the girl, who was a little surprised, but nodded and ran away.

Once everyone was alone, Thor reached out to Kismet and said without any hesitation, "You said there was a golden page in the No Man's Land. Now that we're all in the No Man's Land, can I have it?"

Kismet spread his hands. "I didn't bring it with me, but don't worry, I put it in a very safe place."

Thor withdrew his hand, wondering if Kismet didn't want to give him the golden pages immediately.

Since the golden pages weren't here, Thor didn't bother with them.

He discreetly observed his surroundings.

Observe how those wizards absorb the spirit-reading candles.

He squinted, but saw nothing unusual in the candle.

It seems to be just a special kind of energy.

"What are you doing here?" After a while, Thor saw that Kismet was just sitting there and hadn't lit a spirit-reading candle for himself, so he asked casually.

"Meet someone," Kismet said lazily, leaning back in his chair with one foot propped up on the seat. "Deliver something."

Five minutes later, Saul saw Kismet's gaze fixed on the depths of the hall and turned to look as well.

As soon as he turned around, he saw a woman wearing a long red dress with a high belly emerge from behind layers of light gauze.

She looked at everyone in the hall with a nonchalant smile, as if they were ants on the ground.

But when her gaze fell on Kismet, a light suddenly appeared in her eyes.

She walked through the crowd, ignoring the apprentices and wizards who bowed to her in greeting, and headed this way.

Kismet stood up slowly, and after taking only two steps, the woman in the red dress, heavily pregnant, came up to him.

"Long time no see, Kismet. I thought you'd been captured and eaten by the Lord of the Sky."

"Dolly." Kismet tapped the other person lightly with his finger.

The two then embraced gently.

Thor, standing nearby, noticed that Kismet didn't touch the other's stomach.

The way he hugged her was very awkward.

The two parted ways quickly.

Kismet reached out and pretended to stroke it twice through the air, exclaiming, "It's almost out."

Dolly looked down at her belly and smiled, "Thanks to you."

Thor: "?"

Dolly invited Kismet to go behind the veil, and the two left without even saying goodbye.

However, when Kismet lifted the curtain, he glanced back at Saul and suddenly gave a strange smile.

Thor: "!"

"That guy!"

After Kismet left, Thor got up and left immediately.

Staying in this place makes me feel like something bad is going to happen.

Crossing the path, Thor returned to the vicinity of the settlement's exit.

There should be more than one exit here, but obviously this is the only one that outsiders are told about.

Thor was thinking that even if the quicksand termites in the Survivor Forest were a hoax, he still wanted to go and see for himself.

After all, the person who told him that was a liar.

Just as Saul reached the vicinity of the gate, he suddenly saw a man carrying a pale-faced boy who was convulsing. The man walked to a spot against the wall and casually threw the boy to the ground.

A bearded man followed closely behind him.

"He didn't make it." The man who threw the boy away looked impatient. "Give me back my food."

The bearded man walked to the corner, looked down at the boy who had just stopped convulsing, touched his neck, and then turned back with a grin, saying, "He ate them all."

Another man cursed and slapped the man across the face. Seeing that the man didn't dodge or flinch but just smiled apologetically, the man walked away grumbling.

Those who witnessed this scene carefully stepped aside, fearing that they might incur the man's wrath.

Once the boy was out of sight, the bearded man picked him up in his arms.

At this moment, an old woman seemed unable to bear it any longer and whispered, "Find a good place to bury the child. Leaving him here will only lead to his demise."

Unexpectedly, the bearded man shook his head, "I made a deal with the mountain climber. If I don't make it, I'll sell my body to him so I can get some food."

The old woman looked on with pity, but knew she couldn't change anything, so she simply turned her back and left.

Although Thor was standing far away, his excellent eyesight allowed him to see everything that was happening over there clearly.

The bearded man carried the boy through the gate beneath the wall and disappeared into the shadows.

Thor's gaze followed the boy in his arms into the darkness.

With his abilities, he could naturally tell that the boy was not dead, but had just temporarily stopped breathing.

However, if not treated promptly, this brief period of breath-holding can turn into actual death.

Thor thought of the boy's new injury on the sole of his foot and followed him.

As we passed through the passageway under the wall, the old man guarding the gate, who had been tending to the flowerpots, was resting with his eyes closed.

Sensing Thor's magical fluctuations, she immediately opened her eyes and stared at him.

The old man in the flowerpot didn't question Thor's quick departure after entering; instead, he seemed somewhat... nervous?

However, Thor said nothing, pretending that he was just someone who happened to be passing by and that he wasn't interested in the man who was walking quickly out of the passage ahead.

Only after Thor walked out of the city gate and left the passage did the old man with the flowerpot slowly close his eyes.

Leaving the settlement, Saul saw the bearded man holding the boy standing under the wall to his left.

There was a small donkey cart parked there.

The rear of the car was covered by a huge, bulging piece of black leather.

A faint stench of decay wafted through the air.

The moment Thor left the gate, he immediately entered a hazy, illusory state, and even as he slowly approached the bearded man and the coachman, neither of them noticed him at all.

So Thor watched as the bearded man handed the boy to the coachman, but also gave him a small package.

Without saying a word, the driver calmly stuffed the small package into his pocket, then lifted the black leather behind him to reveal a pile of corpses over a meter high inside.

The bearded man immediately turned his head away, but couldn't help turning back to look.

The corpses were covered with a thin layer of soil, but it was still possible to see that most of them were black and red, and some of their skin was carbonized. The deaths were not bloody, but they were still very horrifying.

The bearded man flinched, but the driver acted swiftly, grabbing the boy by the waistband, lifting him up, and then tossing him onto the top of the pile of corpses.

He pushed aside the bearded man who was about to say something, got on the donkey cart, and quickly left.

"Is this the Mountain Climber? He's just an ordinary person without any magic." Thor stroked his chin, glanced at the bearded man who had already turned and run towards the gate, and chose to continue following the donkey cart.

The mountain climber was strong and robust, and judging from the way he had just lifted and tossed people up, he seemed to possess some martial arts skills.

If he were outside, he might be a high-ranking warrior, but here, he can only be a driver transporting corpses.
