Chapter 536 The Soul Within the Wizard Tower

Chapter 536 The Soul Within the Wizard Tower

The interior of the wizard's tower remained dark, and no light source was turned on despite the arrival of its master.

Thor raised his hand, and an orange fireball appeared in his palm.

Even without light, he could perceive the structure inside the tower through fluctuations in his mental energy.

However, visual perception is also indispensable.

Especially in the former Gorsa Wizard Tower, fire once meant safety.

The first floor of the White Wizard Tower.

There was nothing there.

It doesn't even have a staircase leading to the second floor.

But when Thor realized this, an arched doorway appeared directly in front of him.

Behind the doorway, where the flames barely illuminated the area, several spiral staircases could be seen winding upwards.

Thor, holding the fireball, arrived at the archway and discovered that the staircase had both an upward passage and a downward passage.

The upward passage could be easily illuminated by fireballs, while the downward passage was plunged into dense darkness just a few meters away.

The light seemed to be out of reach.

Thor immediately thought of the dark, disorienting corridor between the first and second floors of the Wizard Tower.

"Should we go to the bedroom first, or the storeroom?" Thor stopped at the top of the stairs.

He still doesn't know where the black iron coffin that gave birth to the entire wizard tower is. Only by finding the black iron coffin can he truly control this wizard tower.

Just as Thor was about to take the next step...

"Tap...tap...tap..."

A steady footstep came from below.

Thor turned his head and saw a face with sunken cheeks emerge from the darkness.

After the thin face appeared, there was a slender neck and an equally slender, tall but thin torso.

When he first appeared, he was nearly two meters tall, and his body proportions were extremely disproportionate.

But as his gaze fell upon Thor and he continued upwards, his height gradually decreased.

The shrinkage was strange; Thor could clearly see his arms and legs folding inwards as if mechanically. It was accompanied by a slight "clicking" sound.

When the man reached the five steps below Thor, his height had shrunk to just a little taller than Thor.

Thor is not very tall yet, perhaps because the premature witchcraft modifications have strained his bones; he is currently only 1.7 meters tall.

The man in front of me is about 1.74 meters tall.

When his height started to shrink from two meters, Thor finally recognized him.

"The steward?" He was somewhat surprised, then it dawned on him.

It turns out that the wizard tower's steward, the librarian, and the gardener outside were not real people.

After the Gorsa Wizarding Tower collapsed, the gardener was taken away by his mentor, Kaz. After all, Thor was traveling alone and didn't need anyone to tend to his garden.

The Grand Steward of the Wizard Tower never appeared. Thor assumed he had slipped away in the chaos or died somewhere.

Unexpectedly, the other party had been staying in the black iron coffin all along.

"It's been a long time, Lord Thor. Please allow me to address you as 'Lord Tower Master'." The steward performed an elegant hand gesture to his chest, and only after receiving Thor's permission did he straighten up.

"There are no other stewards in the Wizard Tower right now, so you can just call me Hope, or give me a new name."

Asking the master to give him a new name signifies that Thor has absolute control over him.

Hope is nominally the steward of the Wizard Tower, but in reality, he is still a servant of the Wizard Tower.

Thor chuckled lightly. "So your name is Hope. I've always called you 'General Manager' before, and I didn't even know your real name. It's a nice name, and I think you're used to it."

He had no interest in naming people, and after confirming Hope's identity, he looked once again into the darkness leading to the lower levels.

"It seems the black iron coffin is down there. There should be other people inside, right?"

"Yes, Master Tower." Butler Hope stepped aside slightly to make way for the not-so-wide stairwell.

Hope's action was like opening a passage.

Two more faces appeared in the darkness.

Thor knew those two faces all too well.

They were middle-aged and elderly librarians.

"Lord Tower Master..." The middle-aged man remained timid and hesitant, not daring to look up at Thor.

"Lord Tower Master," the old man said, his eyes filled with complex emotions, his attitude respectful.

At the same time, a third voice "sounded" in Thor's mind.

Agu: [Lord Tower Master. 】

Thor sighed softly, "Now that the Wizard Tower has been restored, it's time to restore you to your full potential."

He stretched his arms forward, with two translucent gray tentacles extending from each palm.

The elderly accept it calmly, while the middle-aged, though very afraid, do not try to avoid it at all.

As Agu's other two parts of his soul were absorbed into the diary, his black page changed once again.

The rough edges became neat and smooth, and the rough paper became as soft as silk.

However, Agu, who had re-fused with the divided soul, or rather, the faceless Gustav, did not speak again. He even closed the pages of his book and quietly stayed in the diary.

"It seems that Agu still needs some time to complete the fusion of their souls. Hmm, after a long separation, it may take some time to complete the integration of consciousness and memories."

Thor ignored the diary and continued to stare into the darkness.

"Ahem," Butler Hope coughed twice, "The rest are just some scattered fragments of souls. You, Tower Master, are quite familiar with them."

Fragments of the soul?

Thor crossed his arms. "I understand. Then don't let them out yet."

What else could the soul fragments in the wizard's tower be?

Aren't they just those eyes, mouths, and noodle arms?

These guys really aren't suited to come out.

Let him go in and take a look.

Thor lowered his arms and stepped into the darkness.

The butler, Hope, followed a step behind him.

While Thor explored the new wizard's tower, the old witch waiting outside grew impatient.

"What's that kid doing in there? Did he just go in to sleep and leave me outside?"

Marsh was still planting mushrooms nearby; he had almost pulled all the mushrooms that had grown on his body. Only the one on his head, the one swaying most enthusiastically, remained still.

The old witch, who had nothing to do and nowhere to go, wanted to take a stroll outside, but when she got to the lake, she found that the vine raft that had been resting on the water had disappeared without her noticing.

"Sol said you need to take a boat to get to the island, but he didn't say you have to to leave. I can try it; I can't just listen to him about everything. What if he's wrong?"

In short, the old witch didn't completely trust Thor, and she was quite confident in her own abilities. She believed that even if she encountered rule-based dangers, she would have ways to avoid them.

"Tell your master I'm going to check on the lake."

Without waiting for Marsh's reply, the old witch got up and flew into the thick fog.

Another hour passed, and the sky above the gray fog also darkened.

As night fell, Thor finally emerged from the wizard's tower.

After he came out, he could only vaguely see Marsh through the fog, but he did not sense any mental fluctuations from the old witch.

He walked over to Marsh, who immediately stood up and bowed.

"Where is the old witch?"

"Sir, she said she's going out to take a look."

Thor was not happy to hear that the old witch had gone out on her own. He went to the lake, but the fog was too thick and he could not see where the old witch was at all.

Thor squinted and began a semi-immersive meditation.

The world before my eyes immediately became much clearer.

Thor saw a tiny figure circling in the sky not far from the island in the middle of the lake.

"It seems my initial guess was correct. We've discovered two rules so far. One is that you can't look directly into the water from the surface, and the other is that you need to take a boat to get to and from the island in the middle of the lake."

Looking at the old witch who seemed to be flying out of the fog like a headless fly, Thor smirked. "Little algae, rebuild the raft and go over there to bring that trouble back."

"Don't rush, wait for her to call for help before you set off."

Thor took one last look at the old witch, then turned and led Marsh back to the wizard's tower.
