Chapter 53 No one lives an easy life.
Duke's words silenced the room, and Doze and Rocky looked at Duke, puzzled.
"Why is Jenna looking at Thor's dorm?" Doze asked curiously.
Although Rocky had been watching Jenna's strange behavior, Jenna wouldn't tell him the reason, and he didn't dare to ask.
I was afraid Jenna would be unhappy.
But Rocky was very nervous. Was Jenna really spying on Thor?
"I...no, I was looking at Claire," Jenna instinctively tried to explain.
"Oh~" Duke gave a half-smile. "I wasn't looking at Thor. Although Thor and I don't get along, we're still the same mentor. I thought you needed to see him for something, and I thought he could help you."
"Forget it then." Duke shrugged, seemingly about to turn and leave.
Jenna couldn't help but call out to him.
"Duke! Do you know... where Thor usually hangs out?"
Upon hearing this, Doze and Rocky's gazes quickly shifted to Jenna.
Doze was curious, while Rocky was nervous.
Duke paused, waited a moment, then turned back, looking at Jenna's anxious expression, and comforted her with a smile.
"You really want to find Thor?" Duke deliberately drew out his words. "Okay, I think he's quite patient with girls. He's usually close to Claire, and according to my advisor, he also gets along well with Angela."
Upon hearing Duke's words, Rocky was the first to react, pursing his lips tightly.
The second person to react was Jenna, who was delighted to hear Duke's words.
If Thor really likes girls, that's fine too.
Her family was at least somewhat aristocratic; they might not be good at other things, but they had thoroughly learned all the vulgar habits of aristocratic circles.
She's not afraid of Sol making demands now; she's afraid Sol won't make any demands.
……
The next day, Saul didn't go to class again.
Keli was somewhat worried.
She didn't know whether she was worried about Saul's studies or about falling far behind him.
During the break between classes, Claire, following Saul's instructions, found the distracted Jenna.
The two found a classroom alone.
"Saul said that if you want him to do something for you, go to the second floor of the East Tower at 3 p.m. today and wait for him."
Jenna was overjoyed to hear this.
Although she had already found out where Thor was from Duke, having Thor extend an invitation made her more confident in resolving the issue.
"Okay!" Jenna readily agreed, and without seeing any reaction from Claire, she skipped back to get ready.
Because of her nervousness and urgency, Jenna didn't eat anything at noon. She picked out the prettiest dress she had brought with her, a light red tulle dress, and hurriedly headed to the second floor of the East Tower.
At this time, it was only one o'clock in the afternoon.
The third morgue is on the second floor of the East Tower.
Saul is conducting confirmatory experiments on his new left hand.
He looked up and heard footsteps outside the door that sounded different from usual.
I knew it was Jenna the moment I thought about it.
He lowered his head, ignoring the people outside, and continued his experiment.
Although I missed several days of classes, I read a lot of Saul's books.
In particular, regarding the understanding of all things, he selectively studied knowledge related to his current research, gaining a deeper understanding of dark-attribute materials.
Meanwhile, having experienced a successful experiment in transforming a witch's body, Thor was itching to try a second one.
The experiment requires a large investment, but if successful, the rewards will be even greater.
Perhaps this will allow him to directly advance to the level of a second-level apprentice.
He doesn't lack money now.
Byron still owes him nearly a hundred credits.
There is no shortage of materials.
Saul kept quite a few materials on his own during his daily work, and he could exchange other materials at the registration office and have Byron settle the bill.
Time gradually ticked down to three in the afternoon.
During the long wait, Jenna's excitement gradually subsided.
This was her first time visiting the second floor of the East Tower.
Unlike the West Tower, the East Tower is filled with terrifying traps.
Aside from classrooms, libraries, and registration offices, Jenny never wandered around alone.
Moreover, the second floor of the East Tower is truly...unique.
Although the corridor looked relatively quiet and tidy, there was an unpleasant smell in the air.
It seemed to smell like a mixture of rot, blood, and filth.
At the entrance to the corridor sat a tall, strong, and strange-looking man. When Jenna came over, she was afraid that she would be stopped by that strange man.
Why is Saul working here?
Is this place so terrible that Thor was banished by his mentor?
Given this, does Thor really have a way to help her get rid of the parasites?
After all, this place doesn't seem like a place for powerful people...
However, just as Jenna was pondering this, she saw someone walk past her.
Jenna only noticed his presence when he passed her shoulder, and was immediately startled.
The man lowered his head, walked to the second door and went inside, ignoring Jenna completely, as if she were nothing to him.
"He looked quite old, but he didn't have the air of a second-level apprentice," Jenna recalled of his retreating figure. "Maybe he's just a very senior first-level apprentice. Could he be the one who helps Clare get rid of the parasites?"
Jenna hesitated, wanting to chase after him and ask, but was afraid of being scolded if she did it too suddenly.
As she wandered around, she suddenly noticed that someone else's back had appeared in front of her at some point.
Jenna was completely stunned this time.
If she hadn't looked up unintentionally, she probably wouldn't have realized that she had brushed past someone again until that person disappeared at the end of the corridor.
"That person...that person seems really amazing." Jenna swallowed hard.
She didn't even dare to recall the other person's back view, as if trying to remember it would only bring up something terrifying in her mind.
"Could that person be the one who helped Keli?"
Jenna wanted to chase after him, but her legs trembled in place.
She didn't dare.
It wasn't until 3:00 AM that Saul opened the door and left the morgue.
By this time, Jenna's exquisite makeup was ruined, and her beautiful dress was wrinkled and stuck to the ground.
She huddled against the wall, just like the burly man at the entrance of the corridor.
Even when the big man curled up, his presence was still overwhelming.
Jenna curled up in a ball, almost swallowed by the shadows.
Thor opened the door, and the bright light from the room behind him shone out, casting Thor's dark shadow in the light.
Jenna was momentarily blinded by the light, then covered by Thor's shadow.
She looked up listlessly, and when she saw Saul, whom she had been waiting for for hours, standing at the door, a smile finally returned to her face.
"Sol!"
Jenna excitedly tried to get up, but her legs gave way and she slumped back down.
"Just sit there," Thor said in a low voice.
Jenna was startled.
The Saul here looks creepy; is it because of the environment?
At this point, Jenna began to suspect again, "Perhaps it was Thor himself who helped Claire get rid of the parasites..."
Jenna raised her hand to tidy her slightly messy hair, then spread out the hem of her red skirt and looked up at Thor with a timid expression.
Unfortunately, she didn't realize that her makeup had been ruined by the cold sweat, and she didn't look cute and pitiful at all like a little girl.
Instead, under the dim lighting in the corridor, it looked as stiff and terrifying as a corpse.
Thor watched Jenna tidy up with a blank expression. He had expected Jenna to do something, or what price she would offer to beg him.
Unexpectedly, Jenna, at such a young age, has also started using her beauty to seduce others.
Has Jenna forgotten that she's only twelve years old?
The girl was alright looking, but Thor wasn't a pervert and wouldn't even think about it that way.
He went straight to the point: "Alright, stop with your little tricks. I'm asking you, who sent you to find me?"
