Chapter 526 Escape
Chapter 526 Escape
There are only three days left.
But Ochiri was not prepared to run away on the last day.
"This, this, and this," that night, Ochiri had to prepare his escape plan ahead of time. He told Thor about several ingredients, "When you're making the potion tomorrow, remember to keep a little extra of these ingredients and secretly give them to me. I'll be making a new potion tomorrow night."
"Tomorrow night?" Thor feigned hesitation. "But I'm not sure about tomorrow night..."
"We're running out of time. If you can't complete the near-second-order maneuver by tomorrow, I'll have to take on more of the risks when we escape," Ochiri said helplessly.
Thor lowered his eyes, seemingly somewhat dejected. "Then... I'll leave it all to you."
The next day, the old witch was still sitting in a corner of the laboratory, supervising the two experiments.
Because Thor was the main person in charge of the experiment, Ochiri could only assist, so Thor was also responsible for preparing many of the medicines.
Thor took a little extra of everything, just as Ochiri had told him about the materials yesterday. However, Ochiri needed quite a lot of different kinds, which made Thor's movements a bit too large. He couldn't use the storage device, otherwise the sudden magical fluctuations would be immediately noticed by the old witch who was watching them closely.
Fortunately, the old witch was no longer standing behind them, so it was easier for her to do something underhanded.
Thor noticed that Ochri had also taken a little of the potion he had prepared.
The two worked together, covering for each other, and managed to secretly hide some materials.
However, in order to hand over the remaining potion materials to Ochiri, Thor often had to get together with him and pretend to discuss them.
After this happened repeatedly, it aroused the old witch's suspicion.
"What are you two always whispering about?" The old witch raised her wooden stick, thought for a moment, and finally landed it on Ochili's calf.
"Ugh!" Ochili's calf instantly lost a piece of flesh.
He held back his cry, his face turning bright red.
Thor looked warily at the wooden stick in the old witch's hand, but still offered an explanation: "Ochiri is too nervous; he keeps doing things wrong."
"Ugh!" Ochiri's eyes widened, but he didn't say a word, his face turning even redder.
The old witch snorted coldly, scrutinizing Thor and Ochiri, but somehow she hadn't discovered where Ochiri had hidden the materials. "I don't care what you're doing, if you dare to play tricks, I'll skin you alive!"
Now that they were being watched, their little schemes naturally had to stop. Fortunately, Thor had already given Ochiri the potions he needed, so the two of them could now continue their experiments openly.
The old witch stood by Thor's side ever since, but never noticed anything unusual about the two of them.
It was time for a break again, but the old witch's suspicions from the day hadn't subsided. Instead of letting the two spend the night in the lab, she locked them back in their cramped cage.
As the old witch watched him crawl into the wooden cage, Thor looked somewhat uneasily at Ochiri in another cage.
Ochili over there seemed to be huddled up in fear.
Thor turned around and saw the old witch staring at him, her lightbulb-like eyes still eerie even when half-closed.
"If you can complete the modification experiment on Ochiri tomorrow, I will make an exception and take you as my apprentice. If not, you will become my slave!"
Thor wasn’t particularly interested in either of those identities, but now he could only watch helplessly as the old witch turned and left, her severed limbs drawing a semicircle in the air behind her.
After the old witch left, Ochiri suddenly sat up. "You didn't really think the old witch would take you on as an apprentice, did you?"
"Won't."
"That's good." Ochiri glanced again in the direction the old witch had left, a hint of joy on his face. "I didn't expect her to lock us back in our cages tonight."
Thor asked, puzzled, "Why do you seem so happy about being locked in the cage? We can't use witchcraft anymore."
Ochiri stared at the door, grinning as he said, "Because locking us in a cage means she's too busy to watch over us now. She's either left here or deep in meditation."
"Either way, it means that no one will come to bother us for the time being tonight!"
As soon as Ochili sat up, he immediately took out the medicine he had hidden on his body and began to prepare it.
Because he couldn't bring back all the experimental equipment in his clothes, he had to prepare the medicine on the ground using the most primitive methods.
It has the aesthetic appeal of eating rice with your hands.
Soon after, Thor smelled a peculiar scent on Ochiri.
"Alright." Ochili raised his hand, picked up the sticky, black, mud-like potion from the ground, and carefully applied it little by little to the bars of the cage.
The miniature magic circles drawn on the wooden railings were thus covered up.
Thor observed carefully from the side.
The mud-like potion didn't simply cover up the magic circle; it suppressed its effects without damaging it.
This did seem rather novel to Thor.
"If we destroy the magic circle directly, the old witch outside will discover it immediately. But this method will ensure that it won't trigger an alarm." Thor nodded, noting down Ochiri's method.
At this moment, Ochiri had already concealed all the miniature magic arrays and easily opened the cage door, crawling out from inside.
At this point, he could have simply abandoned Thor and run away.
After all, it seems that Thor is no longer of any use to us.
Without hesitation, he took the remaining potion and ran to Thor's side to help him leave the cage.
This surprised Thor.
Herman: [I thought he would run away on his own.]
An: [Heh, I don't think it's that simple.]
Ochiri quickly opened the cage door, and his opponent, Thor, stretched out his hand, "Get out!"
Instead of grabbing Ochiri's hand, Thor ducked down and crawled out of the cage himself.
Halfway through the drilling, Ochili said impatiently, "Hurry up."
He grabbed Saul's arm and half-dragged him out.
"Now, the effects of the 'love potion' in our bodies should be wearing off by now. Do you still feel disoriented?"
Thor obediently raised his hand to check, "I'm fine now."
Ochiri nodded. "Then let's leave now!"
Thor frowned. "Which way? The old witch should be in one of the outermost rooms."
"The old witch has a habit: every time she locks us up, she enters a deep meditation. At this time, we can go out directly. As long as we are discreet and conceal our magic and mental energy, she won't notice us. Besides, tomorrow is crucial; she will definitely take a good rest."
The old witch had imprisoned Ochiri and the others in this cage for many years, so she naturally trusted them implicitly. She probably never imagined that Ochiri had already found a way to escape the cage, but had been waiting for someone who could cooperate with him.
"The worst-case scenario is that the old witch doesn't enter deep meditation," Ochiri said earnestly, looking at Thor. "That's when we'll have to fight tooth and nail. Raising our strength to near-second-tier is all for this moment. Remember, don't get bogged down; find an opportunity and run!"
Ochiri raised his hand, letting Thor see that there was still a little bit of the potion left in his palm.
"The magic array at the cave entrance can't stop us."
Thor felt that Ochiri's plan was not perfect, but now that they had escaped the cage, they had to give it their all, even if the plan was flawed.
Most importantly, Ochiri has run out of time.
"Then let's go quickly." Saul added, "Could you take my coachman with you?"
Ochiri waved his fist, almost throwing a punch, "You should worry about yourself now!"
Thor feigned reluctance, nodded, and said, "Alright then."
