Chapter 466 Recruiting

Chapter 466 Recruiting

Thor and the old man exchanged a joke, dispelling the awkwardness of their first meeting.

"May I ask who you are...?" Thor had a vague guess in his mind.

"I am Pound, the dean of Bydon Academy," the white-haired old man said with a smile.

The dean of Baidong Academy, isn't that a second-tier wizard?

Thor quickly performed the etiquette between wizards—of course, with a third-tier wizard as his mentor, he didn't need to perform such a grand ceremony.

"Hello, Dean Pound!"

"Hehe, no need to be so polite. Hmm, I see you're already a formal wizard, no wonder you're an apprentice of Wizard Gorsa. I'm sure you'll advance to the third rank someday." Dean Pound was clearly impressed by the special treatment he received from Instructor Thor.

"Thank you for the compliment, but I still have a lot to learn. By the way, why did you just say that storage is much better than compressed baggage?"

"Although this storage device is not yet widely available to the general public, it has a large capacity, can be categorized and organized, and most importantly, it can store processed living organisms."

"If we could store living things, that would be so convenient. Were we going to need other equipment to help?" Most of the items Thor brought with him were living substances.

Many witchcraft experiments also require processing the materials while they are still alive.

Most active materials require extremely demanding storage conditions, so very few can actually be carried around with you. Often, you have to buy them as needed (or grab them immediately).

Thor hadn't fully grasped this before, while he was in the Wizard's Tower. Only after leaving for good did he realize how difficult the life of a wandering wizard truly was.

Fortunately, he mainly cultivates the dark attribute, so the requirements for living beings are relatively less.

Upon hearing Thor's guess, Pound smiled and nodded. "That's right. If you need one, you can purchase a matching hibernation pod. We have many different sizes available. In addition, we can also provide other storage equipment, such as spirit-capturing pods." Dean Pound was quite adept at promoting his products, clearly a veteran in the business.

However, he probably didn't expect that Gorsa didn't leave Thor with many magic crystals.

Because he had taken the core of the Wizard Tower, Thor was too embarrassed to take too much property from the ruins of the Wizard Tower.

After a moment's consideration, Thor purchased the storage device and two hibernation pods.

The magic crystals on his body were reduced by more than half in an instant.

Saul pulled out his money expressionlessly, but a dull ache lingered in his heart.

Because Dean Pang accompanied them throughout the process, the purchase procedures were completed very quickly.

The staff members were mostly ordinary people, and they stood around the dean with great fear, which clearly indicated that the latter had a very high level of prestige.

After paying and taking the goods, Thor glanced back at the showroom behind him and didn't dare linger any longer.

Dean Pound also walked out with him.

The architecture at Bydon College is more distinctive compared to the towering buildings of Archaeologists. There are sprawling single-story buildings, towering structures resembling wizard towers, and even a lake with a swaying crystal house visible underwater.

"Our academy is relatively new, but our philosophy is to attract a wide range of talent. You see, these buildings around here are where our faculty members conduct experiments and hold classes," Dean Pound explained to Saul as they walked.

This made Thor even more certain of his previous guess.

When they arrived at the entrance of a building that looked like a haunted house, three or four wizards came out from inside.

Their leader wore a black cloak with a pair of epaulets on his shoulders, the epaulets being black with blue and white wave symbols in the center.

The people following behind him were wearing the most common Baidon College uniforms, all with two silver stripes on their clothes.

"This is Instructor Jonah, who, like you, specializes in dark attributes. The ones behind him should be his apprentices. Hmm, you can tell from their uniforms; they're all second-level apprentices." Pound introduced them to Thor from a distance of about ten meters.

The people opposite had already seen Saul and Dean Pound, but they didn't come over to greet them.

He turned his head to look at me, and his two eyes, which were normal before, suddenly appeared squeezed above the bridge of his nose.

Thorn immediately felt a surge of spiritual energy envelop him.

He glanced at Pound, and seeing that the other was smiling and had no other reaction, he slightly moved his mental energy, and countless translucent tentacles appeared on the surface of his skin like hair.

The enveloping spiritual energy was instantly devoured by the even smaller suction cups on the tentacles.

The wizard apprentices who followed Jonah in the black cloak instantly showed expressions of terror.

Jonah's eyes, which had been clenched together, quickly separated and continued to stare at Thor. Then, his other eye flipped over, revealing the whites of his eyes to the two of them.

Then Jonah spoke: "What are you doing, a formal wizard pretending to be a third-level apprentice? Are you planning to ambush and injure someone?"

Before Saul could say anything, Dean Pound immediately rebuked him, "You're talking nonsense again! I'll dock your pay!"

Jonah's mouth immediately shut, then twisted and twitched, clearly indicating that the pay cut had hurt him deeply.

A few seconds later, he struggled to open his mouth again, but didn't utter anything nice.

"You've hired another formal wizard with dark attributes. What, are you firing me?"

"If Lord Thor is willing to join, I would be more than happy to. Then I'll send you to the Corpse Refining Tower!"

"Lord Thor?" Jonah looked over again, this time his eyes, which had only shown the whites of his eyes when he turned around, rolled back out. "Is it that Thor?"

Thor met his gaze without flinching, when suddenly he heard Penny laughing in his mind.

"What are you laughing at?" Thor asked himself.

"Brother Thor, that guy has so many voices inside him. Some say he should immediately curry favor with you, some say he should fight you to see who's stronger, and one says he was disrespectful to you earlier and wants to kneel down before you! Hahaha, they're all about to start fighting."

So many sounds?

Thor glanced at Jonah's body.

Does this guy have many souls living inside his body?

I'd really like to study it.

Jonah felt uneasy as Thor stared at him, and he pulled his cloak tighter around himself.

"Of course, would I accompany anyone else like this?" Pound, despite his advanced age, was quick to offer compliments without caring about his image.

Jonah's mouth twitched again, and he made faces as if his facial nerves were spasming.

"Go to the Corpse Refining Tower if you want, I'm not going to terminate the contract!" He waved his arms and said fiercely.

Then, as if afraid that Dean Pound would deduct his salary again, he turned around and ran away.

Several of his apprentices hurriedly bowed to Pound and Saul, then quickly followed after them.

"Alas... I'm sorry to have made you laugh." Dean Pound sighed softly, then turned to Thor and said, "Our academy welcomes many talented people, and we've inadvertently recruited some oddballs."

Thor smiled. This Bydon Academy, which had emerged from the no-man's-land, seemed quite different from what he had imagined.

"You're too modest. It's quite normal for wizards to be free-spirited and straightforward."

"Hehe, it's good that you're not angry. That's just Jonah's personality—sharp-tongued and stubborn, but he's still very serious and dedicated when it comes to his work." Dean Pound glanced back at the eerie, haunted building behind him, then suddenly picked up where he left off. "By the way, I wasn't joking earlier. If you're willing to join Baidong Academy, I'll send Jonah to the Corpse Training Building. This laboratory will be yours for free. How about it?"
