Chapter 451 Blue Water City
Chapter 451 Blue Water City
Blue Water City.
A very strange city.
It appears to be very wealthy, with some of its buildings even comparable to those in the capital of the Principality of Kema.
But it also seems very poor, with most of the luxurious villas uninhabited.
On the contrary, the working-class neighborhood just across the street was packed with people.
Based on economic income, it wouldn't be an exaggeration to downgrade it to a town.
However, as a port city with a splendid history and culture, its city lord preferred to maintain the original city-level tax system rather than lower his social status.
Besides the city lord, there was also a group of people who were once wealthy, but who, despite having the ability to relocate, insisted on staying here.
But these rich people living in three-story houses and large gardens may have cleaner pockets than the poor people living in thatched huts.
Lord McKen was once again leisurely enjoying afternoon tea with his wizard friends in the garden.
His friend claimed he was a wizard, but he was actually only a second-level apprentice. His knowledge of witchcraft was pitifully limited; it was unclear which wizarding organization he had been expelled from.
The second-level apprentice, named Caron, was over forty years old and lived in constant fear. Even Lord McKen found it difficult to persuade him to come out.
But now that we've invited him out, we should naturally have a good chat and build a relationship. After all, he's the last wizard willing to stay in Bluewater City long-term.
McKend picked up the small white porcelain teacup in front of him, took a sip, and looked at Caron with a slightly ingratiating expression.
"You've locked yourself in your room for half a month. The shallow water roses are already in bloom, and if you don't come out soon, you'll miss the blooming season."
Caron didn't speak, picked up the empty teacup in front of him, and poured in the solution he had brought with him. "I'm going out for a while soon."
McCann paused, then immediately asked, "Where are you going? How long will you be gone?"
Caron muttered, "I've run out of important materials for my experiment and need to go to the beach to collect some. By the way, how's the black water snail collection going? I need a thousand."
The city lord's lips twitched. Those black water snails were one of the few profitable items they had left, and he never expected that this wizard, Kalon, would ask for 1000 of them.
But there's no other way; if you want to keep the other person, how can you do it without something of value?
"I'll have the housekeeper do the math immediately."
Caron nodded. "Then hurry up, I need to leave tomorrow."
This wizard, Caron, would go out once or twice a year, returning in as little as three days or as long as half a month.
But every time the other party went out, Lord McKen would get nervous, fearing that the other party would never return.
With a wizard present—even if the other party is only a second-level apprentice—many difficulties that ordinary people cannot solve can be resolved. Moreover, what difference is there between a city and a village without a wizard?
As Lord McKen pondered whether to purchase something to strengthen Wizard Caron's affection for Bluewater City, a steward hurriedly entered and bowed deeply to him from afar, indicating that he had urgent business.
The wizard Caron, who was sitting opposite Lord McKen, naturally saw this scene as well. He skillfully picked up the white porcelain cup, took a small sip of the solution of unknown composition, stood up and said, "You go ahead with your work, I'm going back."
Although Lord McKen was disappointed that the time spent communicating with the other party was too short, he knew that unless there was something really important, the steward would not dare to come in and disturb them.
"What happened?" To show his trust in Wizard Caron, he asked before the other had left the small garden.
"The city guards have sent word that a great wizard has entered Bluewater City."
"Oh?" The city lord stood up abruptly.
Even the wizard Caron, who was walking out, stopped in his tracks.
"The soldiers guarding the city were about to collect the city entry tax from the other side."
Lord McKen nearly jumped up upon hearing this. "How dare he?"
The butler quickly said, "He returned the money immediately after seeing a white mushroom moving on the other driver's head."
If even the coachman is behaving so strangely, then the person sitting in the carriage must be a wizard.
"What kind of mushroom is it?" Wizard Caron turned back again.
"It's said to look like just an ordinary white mushroom, with a slightly grayish cap." The butler quickly turned to Caron and bowed again.
"White-skinned mushrooms?" Caron asked thoughtfully.
"Where is that wizard now? Do you know why he came here?"
"He asked the soldiers for an address, and he must have gone that way." Before the city lord or the wizard could ask any further questions, the steward gave the address: "No. 16, Shrimp Street. Most of the residents there are either from out of town or poorer locals. I've already sent someone to check who lives there now."
The city lord nodded, then nervously instructed, "Tell them not to follow too closely, lest they perceive us as arrogant."
Lord McKen then looked at Caron, "My lord wizard, shall we invite him over for tea?"
Caron thought for a moment and asked the butler, "Is there any special marking on that car?"
But before the butler could speak, he shook his head. "Forget it, what can you possibly figure out? Just respectfully invite that wizard. But if he refuses, don't press him. He should be at least a level three wizard apprentice."
"Hiss—" The butler gasped.
Lord McKen also wanted to, but he held back.
……
Thor, who was being discussed by the city lord of Bluewater City and the resident wizards, had already arrived at No. 16 Shrimp Street by carriage.
He naturally noticed that someone was following his carriage from a distance, but he didn't pay any attention to it.
When the carriage stopped at the door, passersby craned their necks to see that this double-decker carriage was a mode of transportation that only the very wealthy could afford.
However, when people saw the mushrooms wriggling on the driver's head, they all showed expressions of horror and immediately retreated from the alley.
Agu jumped off the carriage and went to knock on the door.
Before I could knock twice, I heard hurried running sounds coming from inside.
A few breaths later, the door was flung open, revealing a familiar face.
"Who...who are you looking for?" Sander asked nervously and excitedly, but then froze when he saw Agu.
Just then, Saul stepped down from the carriage and turned to Sander, saying, "Let's go inside and talk."
Upon seeing Saul, Sander's expression brightened with joy again. "Sir, you've come! Please come in!"
Thor nodded and stepped inside.
The courtyard at No. 16 Haixia Street is not large; it's somewhat like a space partitioned off from another courtyard by building a wall.
Saul's carriage couldn't get into the courtyard, so it had to stop outside. The coachman waited in the carriage, while Agu followed Saul inside.
They walked through the narrow courtyard and into a small wooden and stone hut with only two rooms.
Once inside and the door closed, the room was plunged into darkness.
Just as Sander was about to fumble for a lamp to light, a soft light appeared overhead, illuminating the entire room.
Then Agu stepped forward, holding a water ball the size of a head in his hands.
Strangely, Sander had not noticed at all before that Agu was holding something in his hands.
In this clear, slightly overflowing sphere of water, you can see a terrifying little fish with a human face swimming around.
"Oh dear!" Sander was startled at first glance, especially since the little fish seemed to have seen Sander's face pop out of the water sphere with a "plop".
Although the fish quickly shrank back, it still startled Sander so much that he almost fell to the ground.
Agu raised his chin. "What, can't you recognize me?"
As he spoke, he raised his hand and tossed the water balloon into Sander's arms.
The water balloon hit Sander in the chest and rolled down his clothes; he instinctively raised his hand to catch it.
My clothes were only slightly damp, and the water balloon felt cool to the touch.
The terrifying human-faced fish once again emerged halfway out of its body and spat a stream of clear water at Sander.
Sander stared intently at the human-faced fish, his fear slowly turning into astonishment.
"Honey, Midor?!"
Next chapter, tonight!
I can't help it, I've been too busy lately. Always rushing around.
