Chapter 42 Let's see what witchcraft really is!
"Sid" slowly released Brown's fist, not answering his question, but instead asking, "Do you remember why I made you kill Thor?"
Brown felt like his whole body was on fire; the excitement left him no time to think.
"Because that brat Saul offended you."
"Then why don't I just kill him?"
This time, Brown hesitated. "Because the servants are all the tower lord's property?"
"Is that all you can think of? Useless."
"West Germany" shouted angrily and turned to leave.
Brown knew the opportunity was fleeting, so he quickly blurted out all his wild thoughts.
"Because, because you can't kill him with your own hands, sir."
West Germany finally stopped, turned around, and showed a satisfied expression.
"You guessed it?"
Brown felt like his whole body was bubbling.
He wondered if he could become the West German's personal servant if he passed this test.
Then, through years of accumulation, he embarked on the path of becoming a wizard.
"I have a guess, sir."
"What did you guess? Tell me, and let me see if there's any need for you to continue being used." "Side" crossed his arms.
Brown smiled with delight. "When I asked you if you wanted me to capture Thor and take him to the tenth floor so you could do it yourself, you whispered, 'If I could do it myself, would I need you?'"
"Hmm, is there anything else?"
"My lord, you instructed me to keep an eye out for a red hardcover book on Saul's person or in places he frequented after his death. If I find it, I must not let anyone touch it, nor can I let anyone else discover it."
Brown swallowed hard. His mouth felt very dry, and he really wanted to drink water, but he had no interest in finding any right now.
"Sir, you want to kill Thor just to find that hardcover book, right?"
Brown licked his lips; they were so dry, but his tongue wasn't moist enough either, making his lips burn.
"...You're very clever." "Sid" sighed, then asked softly, "Would you like to experience the allure of witchcraft?"
Brown immediately replied enthusiastically, "I want to, sir, I want to so badly, I dream about it."
West Germany slightly curled the corners of his mouth.
"Then look down."
Brown hesitated, then lowered his head, his pupils suddenly shrinking.
His body was smoking.
Flames peeked out from several charred holes, licking his skin and his clothes.
Brown's mind went blank; he couldn't understand what had happened.
He looked up, wanting to ask West Germany for help.
But a fist made of white bones appeared before them.
"Click!"
Saul punched Brown so hard that his nose was knocked to the back of his head.
He straightened up and watched as flames gushed from Brown's throat.
Rank 0 sorcery, the despondent gaze.
A magical artifact, the Illusory Eye.
Level 0 sorcery, Scorching Breath.
Thor took a breath. Good, he had just used up all his magic.
In the end, he could only stop Brown's wailing by resorting to physical attacks.
He flicked his left hand, brushing away the blood and flesh that stained the bones, and turned to look at his left shoulder.
"A hardcover book? A diary? Will you leave me alone after I die?"
The hardcover book ignored Thor and quietly hovered over his left shoulder, watching the show.
Watching the flames gradually ignite, before they licked Brown's fingertips, Thor reached out and pulled out the small incense bead.
"This thing must have been given to him by West Germany; it didn't cause a fatal reaction. However, it looks like it contains a filthy beetle."
Thor smelled the scent of the little beads again.
"The outer layer is wrapped in a kind of wax that smells like shroud wax."
The shroud wax has a slight ability to suppress ghosts. However, its effects only last for about three months. After the three-month shelf life, the shroud wax will melt on its own.
When the time comes, the beetles inside will run out, burrow into the body of the person closest to them, and frantically devour their internal organs until they die from overeating.
Thor flicked his index finger, making the small incense bead with the black rope on it sway at his fingertip, and finally threw it into the flames.
The flames melted the small incense bead, burning it to ashes before the beetle regained consciousness.
This was Saul's first murder, and sadly, he felt no unease whatsoever.
The Disheartened Gaze and the Illusory Eyes lack the ability to read others' thoughts.
But judging from the few words Brown uttered when he was in a hallucination of fear, the guy in front of him is most likely not human.
The flames that breathe hot air cannot turn into a raging fire; they will extinguish themselves after burning for a period of time.
Thor looked down at the man who had once bullied him and pushed him to his death several times, now a lump of charcoal.
He stepped over Brown's body.
……
The morning sunlight could not penetrate the wizard's tower with its thick stone walls.
Inside the tower, dawn and dusk can only be distinguished by the brightness of the candlesticks.
The candles inside the Gorsa Wizard Tower burn eternally, and no one knows what their fuel is made of.
A group of people were gathered on the ramp between the sixth and seventh floors of the West Tower, whispering and discussing the charred corpse that was stuck in the ramp.
The steward arrived in a hurry with several servants.
He bowed and apologized to the apprentices while instructing the male servants to clean up immediately.
West Germany was going down the slope when he saw that his way was blocked again, and he frowned unhappily.
"Haven't you ever seen a dead person before? Get out of the way."
The second-level apprentice got angry, and the first-level apprentices scattered like birds and beasts.
West Germany walked past the male servant who lay motionless on the ground, ignoring the butler who kept bowing, and finally caught a glimpse of the corpse on the ground out of the corner of his eye.
He paused for a moment.
The body was unrecognizable, but the scent on it was the shroud wax he had made himself.
Was Brown the one who died?
West Germany didn't care about the deaths of its former allies.
In any case, Brown either died from the strange events inside the tower, or shortly afterward, from being devoured by beetles.
West Germany continued walking downhill nonchalantly, while a person slowly walked uphill in front of him.
Thor looked up and smiled at the oncoming West Germans.
Good morning, senior.
Sid stopped in his tracks, watching Saul turn into the corridor on the sixth floor.
He turned to look at the charred corpse, and his eye twitched violently.
When he looked back, West Germany's expression was terrifyingly gloomy.
He felt a sense of rudeness and offense.
Even the rats in the garbage dump dare to bare their teeth at him?
There was just one thing that West Germany couldn't understand.
Thor majored in dark elemental magic, so how come he knows fire magic?
a few days later.
Thor sat at his homemade lab table in the morgue, organizing his recent learning notes.
While body modification is important, the foundation of basic knowledge should not be neglected.
Thor has now mastered three Rank 0 spells.
If others knew, they would probably be shocked.
Currently, only Claire has a vague understanding of Thor's learning progress—which is why Claire has developed such dark circles under her eyes.
Even the genius Keli, known to all, can only cast one 0th-tier spell, Flash, which is not very effective at causing direct damage.
This is mainly because Klee has less control over the composite runes than Thor.
Now, Thor is about to begin learning his fourth 0th-tier sorcery.
Other apprentices would generally not learn so many witchcraft techniques.
The normal procedure is to first master one technique, then practice it for a long time to form muscle and conscious inertia, before trying the next witchcraft.
Learning multiple spells simultaneously can easily lead to rune confusion.
Especially with compound runes, it's easy to mistake two extremely similar but completely different runes.
Even the smallest consequence of misusing runes is damage to one's mental strength, causing headaches for several days.
That would be so painful that you couldn't even concentrate on reading.
Even more terrifying is the possibility that failing to construct a spell model within the mind during casting can lead to a spell backlash.
In the most severe cases, the backlash can be fatal.
What makes Thor better than the others is his ability to memorize maps, distances, and angles.
He noted the coordinates.
The more advanced thing would be memorizing formulas, but unfortunately he doesn't know how.
Thank you all for your support and votes. The bug has been caught.
Please feel free to offer any opinions on the plot. I will watch it to the end, even if it's painful, and try my best to make up for it. Please forgive me if I can't make up for it, haha.
