Chapter 412 Half a Face
Chapter 412 Half a Face
Heywood, who was hiding in the ribbonfish, had incomplete memories.
He remembered that he, Kongsha, and Ivan were about to begin the witch body modification experiment, and he also remembered that he was about to be promoted to a formal wizard, but he was completely confused about what had happened before, as if he was just Haywood on a certain day.
"What kind of modifications are you three going to make the next day?"
Thor felt that Haywood couldn't have appeared out of thin air; there must be some reason why he had been in the mezzanine for so long.
"Actually, all our modifications were for our mentor's resurrection experiment. But only one of us succeeded in the modification; the rest failed completely."
Upon hearing this, Thor couldn't help but recall Kongsa's terrifying half-glass head, and the blurry figure of Ivana, who had lost her body, wandering the corridor every night.
The ribbonfish is still telling its story, trying to find out why it has become the way it is by recalling the past.
"Kongsha's transformation involved her own body accommodating multiple fragmented souls in order to observe the body's acceptance of different spirits over a long period of time. Ivan's soul, on the other hand, was separated from his body and temporarily resided in the corpse of a faceless man to see if he could control two bodies simultaneously without dying in his original body, before slowly and completely transferring to a new body."
Upon hearing the name Faceless Men, Thor suddenly remembered hearing about this race somewhere before.
He thought to himself, "Agu, is Ivan using your corpse for his experiments?"
Agu: [No, Master. I wish my body could still be preserved until now, but in fact, it was dismembered and studied by the previous owner of this wizard's tower. He was very curious about the Faceless Man's anatomy.]
Dismembering people while their souls watch?
It seems the previous owner of the Wizard Tower was also a ruthless person.
Thor asked curiously, "Who was the previous owner of the Wizard Tower? Was he related to Gorsar?"
Agu: [All I know is that his name is Camus, and he's also from the Radiant Family, but one day he suddenly left, and a few days later Gorsa appeared and took over the wizard tower.]
Such a large wizard tower was handed over quite casually.
Gorsar had previously promised Thor that he would give him the Wizard Tower after the resurrection experiment was successful.
He didn't quite believe it at the time.
It seems somewhat possible now, after all, Gorsar obtained the wizard tower quite easily.
While Thor and Agu were exchanging information quickly in their diaries, Ribbonfish was still recounting the tragic experiences of himself and his companions.
"...Ivan's transformation was a complete failure. The faceless man's corpse mutated and began to corrupt Ivan. When he tried to return to his original body, he was severely rejected by it, and then, poor Ivan was left without a body."
"It's quite pitiful," Thor sighed, his attention drawn back to him.
Yura gave up her original body on her own, and Gorza supported her.
Ivan lost his body because of the experiment—who knows if he did it voluntarily—and Gorza obviously didn't protect him like he protected Yura's spirit, so Ivan probably became a kind of vengeful spirit.
It's even worse than a vengeful spirit.
It all depends on how much the pollution affects him.
After recounting Kongsha and Ivan's experiences, the ribbonfish fell silent.
Saul believed that if the ribbonfish's eyes hadn't been so dry, a tear would have rolled down its cheek by now.
"And what about you?" Thor asked, "What kind of modifications did you undergo?"
To this day, Thor is still not certain whether the ribbonfish is Haywood.
This guy had his most recent memories in the illusionary space inside the mezzanine, but after coming out, he became confused and only had memories from more than ten years ago.
He said the renovations would be done tomorrow, but then he started talking about the results of the renovations.
It's like having a confused memory or being out of one's mind.
This made Thor suspect that the spirits inside the ribbonfish might have somehow witnessed what was happening inside the wizard's tower.
After all, they are eyes; it's not surprising that they can spy.
There are many places in this wizard's tower where there are mist-like figures that are invisible to the naked eye and even through meditation.
If those fog-like figures came from eyes hidden within the interlayer, Thor thought it made perfect sense.
Faced with Thor's question, the ribbonfish suddenly trembled slightly, but it didn't seem to realize it and naturally began to answer Thor.
"My makeover was done together with my sister Heidi..."
Suddenly, the sound of the ribbonfish stopped abruptly.
A pink finger touched the crispy little head of the ribbonfish.
The ribbonfish trembled violently, and its crispy outer skin instantly fell off, revealing its slightly yellow flesh.
Then, the plump fish meat suddenly disappeared piece by piece, as if an invisible mouth had devoured the fish meat right in front of Thor, leaving not even the fish bones behind.
Thor was sitting casually at the lab table, but when he saw the pink fingers, he immediately jumped up from his chair.
"tutor!"
"Hmm." Gorsa didn't look at Thor, still staring at his fingertips.
After the ribbonfish was eaten by an unseen mouth, a "mist-like earthworm" was still attached to his fingertip, constantly turning and twisting.
Thor looked down at the earthworm and saw that its body was covered with terrified human faces, which were twisting and roaring as if they were cursing something.
But Thor couldn't hear anything.
It seems that the other party has lost its means of communication.
A small crack appeared in Gorza's chest, and he reached in with his other hand, pulling out a small amber box.
Then he threw the misty earthworms from the ribbonfish's body into the box, flicked his wrist, closed the lid, and then stuffed it back into the slit in his chest.
Thor's gaze followed the small box as it probed deep into the rift in Gorsa's chest, and just as he withdrew his hand, the rift was about to close...
Suddenly I saw half a face!
That face wasn't scary; it was even quite beautiful.
But it made Saul's heart pound.
He had seen that half of the face before.
That was the missing upper half of Kongsa's face.
It pressed against Gorsa's soon-to-close bandage and stared straight at Thor.
"Did Instructor Gorsa intentionally let me see this?" Thor tried to relax his temples and fists to avoid Gorsa noticing his tension. "I saw Kongsa's original form within the Battlefield of Consciousness, and no one else knows about it."
Thor stood with his head bowed, waiting patiently for Gorza to speak, as he was still unsure of Gorza's attitude.
I wonder what the other party's attitude is towards his exploration of the Wizard Tower's past secrets.
And Byron is currently recuperating inside the Elf King's head. Although Thor is disguised, it's uncertain whether Gorsa will see through his disguise.
What will his attitude be if he finds out?
Unfortunately, Thor couldn't fit Byron into his compressed bag either.
Compressed bags, after all, don't have such magical hidden compartments.
A soft pink sofa suddenly appeared behind Gorsa. He sat down stiffly and then looked down at the crack in his chest.
A slight fluctuation of magical energy emanated from the other party. The fluctuation was extremely strange, and when it swept over Thor, it instantly gave him goosebumps.
Thor lowered his head and saw his shadow suddenly shatter, turning into thousands of tiny black dots that frantically scurried into the cracks in the brick floor.
Gorsa fiddled with it for about a minute before finally closing the tear in his chest.
Then he finally looked up and saw Thor standing quietly with his hands at his sides.
"Congratulations on your promotion..." His voice was genuinely surprised before it gradually returned to its original gentle tone.
"Want to know about Haywood's transformation? Let me tell you."
