Chapter 370 The Palace

Chapter 370 The Palace

There were still more than ten meters between Thor and the two consciousnesses that were not covered by the Flash Dust. Just as Thor was about to take out the last Flash Dust roll and rush across the rest of the way on his own, he saw Agu's hand draw an arc in the air.

A level 2 spell, Flash Dust, suddenly appeared between the two sides.

He is proactively opening up channels.

With Thor and Agu's hint about using Flash Dust, Anne raised her hand and ripped off her right ear. "Flash Dust consumes too much magic power, I'll clear the way!"

She stretched out her palm, aiming it at Thor. His bloodied ear instantly dissolved into blood plasma.

Strands of blood emerged from the blood plasma, spreading like strands of hair, and rapidly extending toward Thor's location.

As soon as Thor looked up, he saw a vast expanse of blood-red threads rushing towards him.

He remained motionless, letting himself be enveloped in blood.

The blood streaks did not harm him, but gently rolled up his waist and lifted him into the air, surrounded by other blood streaks that protected him.

Immediately afterwards, the blood vessels contracted rapidly, and Thor was brought to An and Agu's side.

"The flash dust won't last long, let's go!"

Although the appearance of those pale humanoid figures was always interrupted by the flash dust, the flash dust could only buy time and could not completely solve the problem.

Agu immediately said, "I remember the woods over there started to thin out, so we should be leaving the woods soon."

The places where these pale white figures were originally were all covered with trees, vines, or large shrubs. If they could leave the woods or find the large clearing where Mark had taken him to hide, they should be able to get rid of the pale white figures.

Flash Dust isn't particularly valuable among Tier 2 spell scrolls. Thor has stocked all the support spell scrolls he can buy into his compressed bag to avoid any unforeseen situations in the Elf Valley.

This extravagant behavior was only possible after he officially became Gorsa's apprentice, when his wallet was constantly emptying and his financial resources had significantly increased.

But now he only has one Flash Dust Roll left, and in order to have a backup plan, he will use Blood Silk to clear the way next.

They ran in the direction Agu pointed for about ten minutes, and tall green plants began to reappear around them, while the crunching sound of pale, bare human figures stepping on the grass finally disappeared behind them.

"Huff... huff..." The group found a clearing where the trees were spaced far apart and stopped.

None of the three looked particularly well.

"How are your spiritual bodies? Are there any signs of recovery?" Thor wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and asked the other two.

"No," Agu's expression was also not good. "My mental body is shaking violently. I can only cast two more level 2 spells at most. Any more and I'll explode on the spot."

The consciousness entities hide inside the container, so it's not easy to tell from their outward appearance how bad their mental state is. If their complexion has turned pale, it means they have suffered great internal damage.

Thor looked at Ann with a serious expression. "How are you? If you can't hold on, tell me right away, and I'll take you back."

An swayed unsteadily, and finally sat down on the ground. "No need... I need to catch my breath; I can manage. If we go back now, I won't be able to help you at all until you leave the valley."

Ann looked up at Thor, forcing a beautiful smile, "Master, please drain the last bit of my magic~"

Seeing that Ann could barely stand, Thor was a little worried. He didn't care about Ann's little tricks and simply bent down and picked her up.

Although his mental body was also constantly fluctuating, Thor could try to make these fluctuations more regular.

Regular oscillations are easy to adapt to; just imagine yourself swinging on a swing or bouncing forward on spring shoes, and Thor won't feel so uncomfortable.

"Those humanoids didn't use the ranged attacks they used when they first appeared, maybe those attacks had a cooldown period." Thor, carrying Ann, continued searching for a way out of the forest with Agu, who was still able to move.

"If you encounter so many humanoids again, don't fight, run immediately."

Both consciousnesses nodded.

The enemy was cheating, and they didn't want to fight anymore.

"Kong Sha and the others have been here for more than half a year. Unless they have been constantly on the run and have not been caught in the kind of siege I just encountered, it is impossible for their spiritual bodies to have lasted until now without any problems."

Thor clenched his fists. "There must be a way to recover from the shock, they just haven't told me!"

He wasn't particularly angry. He had already figured it out before entering the valley: not everyone could be as clear-headed as Byron and understand the power of unity.

Many people still struggle with the idea that "if I can run faster than you, I can live longer than you."

"Master, look!" As Thor was pondering, Agu suddenly pointed in a direction and shouted.

Thor immediately looked over; if a large group of pale figures appeared again, they would have no choice but to run for their lives.

But when he turned his head immediately, he saw that the not-too-sparse trees suddenly disappeared a dozen meters away, and the ground turned from green to dark brown.

Like a transparent barrier, it divides the world in two.

Beyond the barrier, the ground was dry and cracked, with not a single flower, tree, or shrub in sight.

The earth was a chaotic black.

Although sunlight can shine freely onto the ground, it is completely absorbed, and no reflection can be seen.

The wind stopped abruptly at the edge of the woods, then turned at the last big tree and blew back.

"Is that the Dead Season over there?" Thor took two more steps toward the black earth.

"Master, be careful. It's best not to go in there rashly now," Agu hurriedly reminded him from behind.

Thor said, "But we should go and see. The advantage that Kongsa and the others have over us is the information gap. We can't just do nothing and wait for danger to come before taking risks."

Agu nodded, then quickened his pace, moving from behind Thor to his side and front.

He's paving the way for Thor.

When they reached the edge of the forest, Thor looked ahead along the clear dividing line between the green forest and the black earth and saw a palace standing a few kilometers ahead.

"Is that the palace Mark mentioned?" There was complete silence on the other end, no unusual behavior whatsoever. Thor directly asked the journal in his mind, "Was the reason you brought me here that palace?"

The diary remains silent.

"Alright, let me ask you a different question. If I don't enter that palace, will I die?"

Keep your diary quiet.

"Could it be unrelated to this most suspicious palace?" Thor's mind raced. He flipped to the last page of the diary with writing on it. "They were attacked suddenly after entering the palace. Before that, it seems no one had died."

"Everything changed at the palace. But why didn't the diary give me a warning when I wasn't planning to enter?"

Saul looked at the words in the diary and repeated them again.

"Madness extended an invitation to me... Could it be that the crucial turning point lies with Madness?"

The craziest person here is none other than Kongsa.

She had already witnessed the terror of the Forest of Four Seasons the first time, yet she still dared to gather people to enter the Forest of Four Seasons a second time.

Not to mention the thing that's currently pinning Kongsa's neck!

"Although I don't know why Kongsha's face became a complete face, I suspect it's likely related to the lost treasure of the elves!" Agu was also helping Thor analyze the situation. "But that palace is dangerous, and we shouldn't enter in our current state."

The face was so lifelike, with incredibly sensitive skin and texture. If Thor hadn't remembered that Kongsa didn't actually look like that, he probably wouldn't have been able to tell that the face was fake.

"Was that a human head, or a hood? Should I rescue Kongsha, or steal something from her? Should I take that eerie yet beautiful head?"

Ideally, we should first enter the palace, find out what's missing, resolve the pursuit, and then wait for the power sealing the valley to be lifted before taking Kongsha and the head out together.

However, the pursuit was triggered by the loss of treasures from the palace, and if they were to enter the palace again, they would likely be walking into a den of wolves.

Even if they manage to escape, they'll be covered in wounds.

Just then, An in his arms suddenly tensed up.

"Master, look behind you!"

Anne, who was being carried in Thor's arms, was trying her best to stay alert and keep an eye on her surroundings despite feeling dizzy. She patted Thor's chest and pointed behind her.

Thor sensed something was wrong and immediately turned around, only to find that pale human figures had reappeared in the distance.

The sparse trees were gradually transforming into eerie humanoid shapes as they approached.

Thor narrowed his eyes and commanded without hesitation, "Let's enter the Death Season first!"

Dead season, no trees!
