Chapter 35 Daydreaming
Chapter 35 Daydreaming
To be honest, with senior student Kongsha looking like that, Thor thinks she probably doesn't need a brain anymore.
He quickly lowered his head, afraid that Senior Kong Sha would think he was mocking her.
"Did you remember?" Kongsha tightened her grip on Thor's shoulders slightly.
Thor immediately broke out in a sweat from the pain.
"I'll remember, I'll remember," he said repeatedly.
Kongsha finally let go of him. "Remember this, at least one Level 1 Apprentice's brain every month."
"But what if we don't have that many Level 1 Apprentice corpses?"
Kongsa looked down at Thor, her previous tenderness vanished, revealing her true colors that she hadn't had time to hide.
"Then you'll have to figure it out yourself. Remember, I won't give you a second potion if you don't have enough."
Kongsa is gone.
Leave a small vial of potion for Saul.
The medicine was contained in a glass bottle, the mouth of which was plugged with cork, and the cork was covered with a small piece of leather and wrapped with silk thread.
They were afraid of leaks.
But the first thing Saul did after Kongsa left was to painstakingly open the bottle of medicine.
The medicine was transparent, and some foam was produced when it was shaken.
Thor, with a stern face, leaned closer and took a light sniff.
A faint fishy smell.
It doesn't smell too bad.
Saul quickly capped the bottle and resealed the opening with leather.
A thought struck him, and he immediately sat down to begin meditating.
After a while, Thor opened his eyes.
"My meditation efficiency has improved slightly. Although it's only a little, because my magic power is so low, I can feel it quite clearly. There has definitely been an improvement."
Thor stared incredulously at the potion on the table.
He could actually sense the difference just by smelling it.
This medicine is incredibly potent!
If I really swallowed it whole as Kong Sha said, and then slept for a day and a night, wouldn't I become a walking element particle absorber?
However, the price to be paid behind the scenes is also enormous.
The hardcover book reminded him that if he drank it all, he would become someone else's spellcasting material in three years.
What form will I take then? A lump of magical, lifeless flesh? Or a walking corpse?
But Senior Kong Sha made him drink it all within a month!
Thor remained expressionless as he carefully tucked the small bottle away from his body.
Even without the hardcover book's reminder, he had no intention of taking the medicine.
He kept it for two reasons. First, to appease Kongsa, since he still intended to cling to this long, white leg to use against West Germany.
Secondly, the potion is incredibly potent, and Thor wants to find an opportunity to study it thoroughly. However, its one-month shelf life is too short.
"Perhaps the hardcover book can help me make some improvements." Thor was still reluctant to part with the enormous boost the potion would bring. "After all, it's a miraculous drug that can enhance meditation efficiency just by smelling its aroma."
"Wait, can I sniff it too?" Thor fell into thought.
……
The next day, Thor, sporting dark circles under his eyes, met Claire, who also had dark circles, at the entrance of the public classroom.
The two exchanged a glance, tacitly refraining from commenting on each other's appearances.
With synchronized steps and movements, they arrived at a familiar corner, pulled out chairs, and sat down together.
As soon as she sat down, Keli suddenly yawned.
Tears welled up from the corners of her eyes, only to be mercilessly wiped away by the back of her hand.
"You look really tired. Did you stay up all night again?" Although Thor didn't really have the right to say that to others.
"I just felt the urgency of time; those bad people won't give us time to grow."
The "bad people" Keli was referring to were the mutual aid group that had made her act abnormally a dozen days ago.
Keli has always been proud, and her academic progress is the fastest among this batch of freshmen.
Aside from Thor, who couldn't see the progress, Claire believed she had already worked very hard.
But after being inexplicably parasitized in the mutual aid society without even realizing it, Keli realized how ridiculous it was to only think about comparing progress with other apprentices in the same batch.
Even a difference of just one level can create a huge gap, much like the difference between hunter and prey.
Weakness is the original sin!
When climbing a steep mountain, focusing only on your feet will make you ignore the boulders falling from above.
So she worked even harder.
What it means to be liver-bound and what it means to be rolled up is perfectly embodied in Ke Li.
Thor was unaware of Claire's resolve, but he was well aware of her pride.
Her experience in the mutual aid society had stung Claire, forcing her to bow her head.
Saul knew that although Claire was a genuine young girl, she wouldn't be defeated by this setback.
"Have you noticed?" Claire whispered to Saul, staring at a corner of the classroom, "they don't seem to be behaving that strangely anymore."
Thor kept his head down, reading, and his eyelids twitched up and down rapidly.
In the corner at the front edge of the classroom, Doze and Rocky were still sitting next to Duke, but they were talking to the girls in the row behind them.
Claire said the girl's name was Jenna.
He once tried to stop Saul and invite him to the mutual aid society, but Saul shut him down, and he never got a chance to speak.
Jenna still looked a little shy, but you could tell that she was enjoying being surrounded and chatted up by boys.
Although he only glanced at him, Thor noticed that Duke seemed somewhat distracted, while Dozer looked smug.
Only Rocky, who seems to lack any independent thought, has eyes that light up when they fall on Jenna.
"Ah, youth..."
But then, remembering that these people seemed to have joined a mutual aid society, Thor changed his tune, saying, "This fleeting youth."
“I’ve been observing them these past few days,” Claire continued in a low voice to Saul. “Except for their strange behavior on the first day they came back, they haven’t shown that odd reaction since. But I’ve quietly inquired, and it seems that the mutual aid society has been around for a few years now.”
It's been established for several years? Do their seniors also have many members in mutual aid groups?
The thought that these people might all harbor some kind of parasite, and could turn into bizarre puppets at any moment, sent chills down Thor and Claire's spines.
It's like you're walking down a corridor, and everyone you pass is unconsciously grinning.
"It's impossible for everyone to be a member of the mutual aid society. Doesn't Senior Byron have ways to deal with them?" Thor explained.
Claire bit her lip. Sometimes she would wake up from nightmares and reach out to touch the scar on her head.
"But Byron doesn't want to get involved in their affairs. Jenna asked me to a party again the other day, but I didn't go."
Thor wasn't invited again, but he still found it a bit tricky.
This kind of tissue is a real problem once it sticks to you.
Sometimes you can't simply choose not to participate, especially when the organizers behind it have ulterior motives.
"You need to be careful, don't let them target you."
"It's okay. I told Jenna that Professor Gudo asked me to help out in his lab." Claire flicked a strand of hair. "They wouldn't dare mess with the professor."
She then suggested to Saul, "If you're alright, go find Byron. If the organizers of the mutual aid society find out you're getting close to Byron, they might not dare to bother you anymore."
Thor shook his head. "Senior Byron is almost thirty. He'll be leaving the Wizarding Tower soon."
Saul tells Claire that if she doesn't advance to the third level of apprenticeship before she turns thirty, she will be dismissed.
Claire was surprised and almost couldn't suppress her voice, "So that's how it is. No wonder those second-level apprentices who joined the nobles were all so old. They were actually dismissed by the Wizard Tower."
"I wonder when we'll be able to get out of this tower?"
Thor has never left the Wizard's Tower since he came here, and his activity range is limited to only a few places.
I've almost forgotten what the sun looks like.
If his schedule weren't filled with studying and working all day long, leaving him no time to think, Thor might have gone crazy from being locked up.
