Chapter 319 The Agreement is Fulfilled

Chapter 319 The Agreement is Fulfilled

Gorsa has laid his cards on the table.

He finally revealed the real reason he was paying attention to Saul.

However, his revelation sent a chill down Thor's spine. For a moment, Thor could still recall the rough feel of the black leather conveyor belt in the morgue.

He swallowed hard, his heartbeat, which had almost stopped in shock, slowly returning to normal.

"It's not necessarily the worst that's happened yet. If my mentor really wanted to dissect me, there was no need to wait until now, much less tell me now." Thor tried to comfort himself and calm down. "In this world, out-of-body experiences and possession are not rare events. I'm just special because I can ignore my body's rejection. But if we talk about it, I can actually bring it out into the open and study it with my mentor."

Thor's mind raced, and in the shortest amount of time, he had already decided on the next course of action.

"I... I didn't mean to. I was already in this body when I woke up."

Thor did not deny it; denying it when it had already been discovered would earn him Gorsa's contempt.

It would be better to admit, in a fearful tone, some things that are not very important first.

"I don't know why I survived. I wasn't originally a wizard; I was just an ordinary person. I didn't even know what a wizard was. I came from a small town..."

Gorsa waved his hand dismissively. "Ha, no need for that. I don't care about your past. The first day I saw you, I knew you weren't a wizard. Your spiritual talent is powerful, but it's like a rough diamond, undeveloped. Since you're not a wizard, even if you were a king, it makes no difference to me."

He extended his index finger and gently touched his brow. "I even suspect that the uniqueness of your soul lies not in yourself, but in the impact of the experience you had after leaving your original body and before entering this ordinary human body. Or you could call it a kind of alienation that brings positive feedback."

Thor's mouth dropped open slightly.

He hadn't thought about that question yet.

He had no recollection of his death in his previous life or the possession he experienced in this life, nor had he ever seriously considered why he possessed such a powerful spiritual talent.

In his previous life, time travel and rebirth were not new terms; they were mentioned in countless novels.

However, most novels simply use it as an opening line, and no one delves into its underlying principles.

As for the improvement in his mental strength talent, Thor simply attributed it to the enhancement of his soul brought about by traversing worlds.

But he never considered how to specifically enhance it.

This matter is too far away for him. Without the strength of a fourth-level wizard or above, how could he possibly solve the mystery of traveling through worlds?

However, after being reminded by his mentor Gorsa today, Thor suddenly realized that he had fallen into the trap of being blinded by his own involvement.

In a world teeming with powerful beings, time travel might not be unusual. What makes him special is that he comes from a world with fundamentally different laws.

This world is so different from the wizarding world that going home is probably not a problem that can be solved by simple space travel.

Gorza did not disturb Thor's thoughts. He knew the other man had secrets, but for now he was only concerned with the cause of the special nature of his soul.

"I don't remember what happened during that time." Thor tried hard to recall the transition between his past and present lives, but he couldn't remember anything.

He didn't know how he died, nor how he came to be. He opened his eyes and woke up in this body that was still warm.

"Of course, your original identity was neither that of a wizard nor someone with supernatural powers. Surviving in someone else's body was more likely a matter of probability. Your amnesia is probably your consciousness's self-protection mechanism."

Gorsa chuckled and shook his head. "To study the uniqueness of your soul, we can use many gentle experimental methods. But to trace the origin of your uniqueness, that history hides high-level knowledge... your consciousness probably can't withstand it."

"You mean that studying my experiences before I came into this body might have a harmful impact on me?"

"That's right. Whether you come from a distant place or another world, the reasons and experiences your soul has had traversing space are knowledge you cannot bear. Even if I wanted to explore it, it would be extremely dangerous."

Gorsa narrowed his eyes. "But Thor, if the resurrection experiment still can't be completed before I completely give up, I may have to risk researching this dangerous knowledge."

His meaning was clear: if he were to personally explore the history of Thor, he could potentially cause irreparable damage to Thor, or even fatal contamination.

The options are either to complete several resurrection experiments within 10 years that even mentors have been unable to accomplish for many years; to discover the uniqueness of one's own soul and replicate it onto Yora's spirit; or to become an experimental subject and endure extremely dangerous research by others.

"I probably don't even have 10 years. My supervisor won't wait until the last minute to study my time travel. His research also takes time. I might only have 5 years, or even 3 years..."

Although Gorsa didn't say it explicitly, Thor knew that as a wizard, he must always maintain a sense of urgency and vigilance.

Faced with such an imminent future and an inescapable fate, Saul did not harbor any resentment.

The moment he decided to become a wizard, he already knew that selection and elimination were the main themes of the Wizarding Tower. At least Gorsa gave him a chance to prove himself.

"I understand, Master." Thor raised his head, his eyes blazing with renewed fighting spirit. "I will do everything in my power to assist you in completing the resurrection experiment."

Gorsa's eyes crinkled again. "Very good. I also promise that during your experiment, I will ensure that all your mentors fully cooperate with you. If you can complete the experiment, or make a significant contribution to the resurrection experiment, I will protect your consciousness, not investigate your past, and not reveal your secrets. This is an equal exchange... Heh, although you can't refuse."

Thor laughed too. "No reward, mentor?"

Gorsa raised his hand and tapped the wall beside him again. "I told you about the reward from the beginning. If you don't die, this wizard tower is yours."

So that's what they were waiting for!

A wizard's tower...

Thor also stroked the rock wall beside him; it was really attractive to someone like him who had no family background or influence!

Agreement reached!

Although it was already a done deal that his identity had been revealed, Thor was still very curious about how Gorsa had discovered that he was a time traveler.

If another powerful second-tier wizard were to appear, wouldn't they all be able to tell that his soul consciousness was not original?

He had been in close proximity to Kira; did Kira recognize him?

What about Kismet? Did he already know?

If one day he encounters a second-tier wizard who has no connection to him, will the latter simply drag him onto the experimental table?

"Mentor... when did you discover that my soul doesn't belong to this body? Could others easily tell as well?"

"I noticed you the first day you appeared." Gorsa's tone remained gentle, but it sounded chilling.

Like the wind in early spring, it feels warm at first, but it's actually cold to the bone.

"The...day?"

"I was on night patrol when I suddenly saw a boy with a large wound on his head walking around the West Tower in a daze."

"It was you, Thor. You must have just entered this body back then, and your body and soul weren't fully in sync yet. Ha, I could see your spirit leaking out of your body from time to time." Gorsa's voice was laced with laughter, as if he could still recall Thor's helplessness and embarrassment when he first transmigrated.
