Chapter 315 Memories and Deciphering
Chapter 315 Memories and Decryption
In the dimly lit morgue, a series of tools, including daggers, tweezers, scissors, and syringes, danced on the cold corpse in turn. When they were returned to their original positions, the once intact body was now in pieces.
From head to ankles, every inch of the corpse's skin was meticulously cut open, revealing the underlying muscle tissue or murky fluid.
However, these fluid tissues did not gush out due to the skin splitting; they remained quietly in place, like a static picture.
Kaz, the mentor who orchestrated everything with effortless grace, kept his eyes closed throughout.
He simply moved his finger, and the tools flew up and retracted on their own, just like a bloody performance of a marionette.
When the autopsy was over, Instructor Katz clapped his hands gently, instantly breaking the frozen "time" on the corpse. Blood plasma mixed with pus rushed out of the bones and muscles, overflowing from the flattened skin, and dripping down the black leather onto the morgue floor tiles.
"Chrome, come here," Kaz's voice rang out.
A short boy's head appeared above the corpse. He looked at the pool of bright red blood in front of him without any discomfort, and even exclaimed "Wow!" in surprise.
"Fill in the brain tissue, clean up the blood plasma and pus, re-infuse with antiseptic gel, and once everything is done, call Hayden... oh, he's gone. Call the people next door to come and heal the wounds. I'll have someone come and remove the body."
After saying that, Kaz opened his eyes, as if he were not the one who had just disposed of the corpse, but a puppet he was controlling.
His slightly cloudy eyes clearly reflected everything on the conveyor belt, but no unusual emotion arose in them.
He had been doing this kind of work for many years, dissecting friends, students, and enemies. He had thought that unless it was Gorza who appeared on the conveyor belt, he wouldn't be surprised if anyone died.
After giving instructions to his apprentice, Kaz turned and walked out of the morgue.
As he left, some small things in the room swayed slightly, as if being gently tugged by a thin thread.
But soon, this unsettling noise stopped as the scarlet door closed.
Chrome watched Kaz leave respectfully, then rolled up his sleeves and excitedly began cleaning up the mess.
The cleanup went smoothly, and he began injecting gel into Nick's remains. This gel replaced the blood and other flowing tissues in the body, allowing the corpse to regain its fullness.
The next crucial step was to put the brain back into Nick's two halves of his head.
But he seemed a little nervous when he took an artificial skull out of a box.
He tried hard to keep a straight face, but his trembling eyes betrayed his true emotions.
An artificial skull was inserted, the skull was closed, and it was simply sutured in place.
This set of movements was only slightly slower than the previous one.
Not long after, an unfamiliar face appeared, wearing an expression of utter despair, and cast several repair spells on the corpse that Chrome had pieced together.
He then nodded dejectedly to Chrome, indicating that he was done, and left the morgue listlessly.
Chrome, who had been standing by and watching, suddenly let out a silent sigh after the stranger left.
……
The scene freezes, and Saul begins to struggle to break free from Nick's body.
However, he had barely exerted any force when he severed the connection with Nick.
After selecting the locator, everything changed dramatically. The once difficult walking, powerful enemies, and terrifying mental interference all became much easier.
When the fog covering magical knowledge is lifted by great power, only principles and rules remain.
Thor successfully left Nick's body and returned to himself.
As he got up from the ground, he asked the four consciousnesses, "How's it going from here?"
Just now, when he entered Nick's body, he deliberately instructed the diary not to transmit what he saw to the several consciousnesses, but to let them conduct research and discussion alone in an isolated space.
This time, the first one I'll start writing about is Hermann.
Herman: [I haven't figured anything out...]
Well, Herman is an action-oriented wizard apprentice, so it's a bit much for him to be asked to study the fluctuation patterns and intrinsic information of spiritual entities.
But Thor didn't receive any good news after that. Morton and Agudu sent messages that were too brief to decipher the true content.
Thor didn't press further. The remaining Ann was a complex entity with multiple consciousnesses, recently formed, and still needing to refine its self-awareness. Thor didn't expect Ann's thinking to be able to process information very quickly.
"I do have a lead, but it will probably take some effort to track down the real mastermind," Thor sighed.
Chrome, who replaced him in the morgue, was still only a first-level apprentice. And judging from his expression as he moved, he seemed somewhat nervous, but not afraid.
Nine times out of ten, they're just accepting bribes and then doing favors for others.
Fortunately, Thor can still investigate who is in contact with Chrome.
As long as Chrome uses the title of Gorsa's mentor, Thor would admire his courage if Chrome dared to hesitate even for a moment!
But in any case, the caution of the mastermind behind the scenes made him uneasy.
Each step involved two or three people, and possibly more.
Thor had some doubts before; were they targeting him?
But after a series of investigations, he could only chuckle and say, "I'm not worthy."
Unexpectedly, An, who was the least expected to help, took the initiative to come forward.
An: [Master~ I think I've deciphered the meaning of this mental fluctuation.]
Agu: [!]
Morton: [!]
Hermann: [?]
Each of the three consciousnesses used a punctuation mark, which perfectly expressed their surprise.
Thor hadn't expected Ann to be able to decipher it. Although Ann's tone didn't sound very certain, Thor, who had already witnessed the power of the Wraith Hand, thought that such a tone actually represented a kind of boasting.
A flicker of interest crossed his eyes. "Tell me about it."
An: ["Smash it," that's all there is to it.]
It's a very simple signal.
Thor raised his hand and stroked his chin, a gesture he liked to make whenever he was thinking.
Herman: [Smash it? What kind of control is that?]
Morton: [No, now that you mention it, that does seem to be the case.]
Agu: [Indeed, reasoning about the unknown is difficult, but if you know the answer and work backward, it becomes easy. Using this information to work backward... at least the equation is successfully reversed.]
An: [Hehe~]
Thor didn't bother with further calculations, trusting Morton and Agu's experience and computational abilities. But he was puzzled as to how Ann had arrived at this conclusion.
"How did you do that?"
When faced with Saul's question, Ann seemed somewhat hesitant.
An: [Uh... if I said the memories came out on their own, would you believe me, Master?]
Ann thought Thor would hesitate at least a moment, but to her surprise, he raised an eyebrow and asked her in return, "Believe! Does this memory belong to the Wraith Hand, or to that incomplete evil spirit?"
An immediately became obedient.
It's an evil spirit.
