Chapter 298 Meeting on Ship
Chapter 298 Meeting on Ship
A few days later, a secret message was sent from the northern desert to the wilderness.
A strange, large ship sailing on land.
Two men standing at the forefront of the storm.
"Kedis has already planted the mark; we can notify the people inside now," one of them said calmly.
"This sudden change of plans was rushed, and Cadis still hasn't returned... Could there be problems with the mark?" The other person frowned.
The first person shook his head. "The blood on the new buds of the Soul-Stealing Flower is fresh. Kedis was probably injured in battle. Perhaps he was badly wounded and couldn't return. But it doesn't matter if he died out there. As long as the mission is completed, he's useless."
"What if he gets captured by the Wizard's Tower? Won't that expose our plans?"
"Don't worry. Before sending Kedis away, his mentor had already left the mark of the Soul-Losing Flower in his mind. Even if someone tortures him severely, he won't remember anything about the Soul-Losing Flower."
"That's good. The Soul-Stealing Flower's abilities are still reliable. So you were prepared to give up on him beforehand. Aren't you heartbroken to lose a third-level apprentice for nothing?"
The first man turned to look at the second man.
He had a short beard, but if someone looked closely, they would notice that the beard was constantly twitching slightly.
The second person lowered their head because of his gaze.
"Are you testing my resolve?" He grabbed the second man's head, pulling him down towards him. "I, Wilde, always keep my word. Now that the agreement has been signed, I won't regret it even if the entire fleet of land-based ships is lost."
Oscar Wilde, captain of the Landship, was also the organization's only second-tier official wizard.
Because of Wilde's gesture, the two men's faces were very close.
This should have been a close enough distance for even a man to feel intimate, but the next second, Wilde's beard suddenly twisted and grew longer, digging deep into the other's flesh.
Drops of blood gathered and slid down the latter's face and neck, dripping onto the rough wooden deck of the land-based boat.
It seeped in through the cracks.
The second man was trembling all over. He wanted to speak, but his lips were sewn shut by Wilde's beard. He tried to open his mouth, but all that could be seen was a mouthful of black silk.
The man stared with bloodshot eyes, desperately looking up, hoping Wilde would see his intention to beg for mercy.
Oscar Wilde did not look back at the man whose face was covered in blood; he stared straight ahead at the rising sun at the edge of the desert.
In his eyes, it was like the setting sun.
Wilde only released the person in his arms when their struggles began to weaken.
"Remember this: after this is done, I will marry Kira and become the new king of Kema. And from now on, no matter what happens in Kema, you are not allowed to interfere."
The man, now freed, collapsed to his knees, his hands trembling as he touched his face as if it were rough sandpaper. Pain surged through him as his beard receded, making his words fragmented and incoherent.
"Yes, yes, everything, everything is done according to the tripartite agreement."
Oscar Wilde nodded. "That's good."
"Well, I'll head back now. I need to get this message back as soon as possible."
"Get lost."
After the second man disembarked in a panic, Wilde continued to look towards the rising sun.
"Is that Thor really that important? I heard that Gorsa, who almost never leaves the Wizard's Tower, once went to pick him up." Another person walked onto the deck.
Wilde didn't turn around. "So we're very interested in that kid. But several attempts to contact him have failed. Gorza seems to be protecting him."
The newcomer rubbed his fingers together. "I have a kind of destructive urge towards the people Gorza has his eye on."
Wilde said calmly, "Aruba, you'd better not act on your own. If you ruin the plan, I won't be the most furious person."
The second prince of the Duchy of Knas is currently their most promising candidate to advance to the rank of a second-tier formal wizard.
Unfortunately, his promotion attempt failed unexpectedly a while ago, and he was injured instead. However, under the pretext of recuperating in seclusion, he secretly came to the land-based ship alone.
After all, some methods of healing cannot be openly used within one's own country.
"I know, I don't want to bear the brunt of those people's pent-up anger for Gorza. Haha, but I just want to know, if one day Gorza discovers that the apprentice he's been nurturing has become the guillotine's blade, I wonder if he'll still be able to laugh then?"
"Gorsana's real purpose for going out that time wasn't to pick up an apprentice, you know~"
Suddenly, a cheerful voice broke into their conversation.
"Who?" Aruba's expression changed as he looked in the direction of the voice.
Oscar Wilde, however, remained calmly focused on the rising sun.
At that moment, a handsome man with silver hair and a frivolous expression slowly emerged from the dazzling sunlight.
He casually held a harp in his hand, which looked as if it might slip from his fingertips at any moment.
Wilde's gaze was fixed on the direction where Kismet had appeared, as if he hadn't been looking at the sunrise, but rather at the silver-haired man standing in the sunlight.
"Who are you?" Aruba had never met Kismet before, but he knew the two knew each other from Wilde's calm demeanor.
"Just an insignificant person." Kismet landed on the deck and waved the harp in his hand at Aruba.
As Aruba looked at the harp, memories of his failed promotion suddenly flooded his mind.
The scene also seemed to be related to the harp.
All the musicians who were responsible for the performance had been executed by Aruba, but this only helped him vent his frustration to some extent.
The frustration of failing to get promoted has not completely subsided even now.
Judging from the silver-haired man's attitude towards Wilde, Aruba guessed that the newcomer was also a second-tier wizard.
He dismissed the unimportant memories in his mind and straightened his tone slightly.
"Are you also a guest invited by the captain?"
Kismet leaned back against the railing and placed the harp on a protruding piece of wood.
"I'm just here to watch the fun."
"You just said that Gorsa had another purpose for going out. What is it?" Wilde frowned impatiently as he saw Kismet and Aruba talking but not bringing up the more interesting topic from before.
Kismet turned his head to the side and gently plucked the string with his little finger, producing a "ding-a-ling" sound.
"He was actually going to see an old friend. On his way back, he rescued his young apprentice."
"Who did he meet?" Wilde was somewhat worried that the appearance of Gorza's old friend might affect their plans.
"A half-elf."
骇!
Both Wilde and Aruba showed varying degrees of change in their expressions.
The atmosphere suddenly became tense.
"Will that half-elf affect our plans?" Wilde continued to ask.
"No, that won't happen." Kismet raised his index finger and shook it. "You all know how difficult it is for a half-elf to live peacefully in this world. She wouldn't fight for anyone. You also know that every time a half-elf takes action, it weakens her connection to this world. Once the connection weakens to a certain extent, she will disappear like other elves."
"Even if the half-elf won't act rashly, how can you guarantee that her relationship with Gorsa won't affect our plans?" Aruba pressed.
Kismet turned his head to the other side, facing Aruba, and said with a smile, "Because that half-elf... is also an old friend of mine~".
