Chapter 271 Crying and Smiling Faces

Chapter 271 Crying and Smiling Faces

Soon after, the three of them, moving quickly, followed the main road all the way to the foot of the clock tower.

And the crimson tide followed closely behind.

At this moment, the sound of the bell still echoed above everyone's heads.

Each sound was like a death knell.

But even after reaching this distance, they still hadn't seen the person ringing the bell.

The three of them immediately climbed up the wall of the clock tower.

The blood wave behind them crashed against the wall, splashing up huge sprays.

Angela was held by Billy's hand, and the two of them flew up.

Without Thor's prompting, Xiao Zao flicked out a tentacle, which hung on the spire of the clock tower roof and pulled the person up.

The two jumped one after the other into the top floor of the clock tower, which had windows on all four sides.

Once he had a firm footing, Saul looked back at the town's streets and found that they had been transformed into a vast red ocean.

When the waves crashed against the rocks, they made a rushing sound, exactly the same as he had heard before.

"Was I standing in blood the whole time?"

When Saul turned around, he found that Billy had already walked towards the still-swaying clock.

Angela looked left and right, hesitated for a moment, and then stood beside Thor.

It's unclear whether she was afraid of the potential danger or afraid of Billy.

"Tsk." Billy, who had just walked past, suddenly clicked his tongue. Then he turned around and, amidst the loud chimes, said to Thor, "Didn't you just say you came in with Mochi Mochi?"

Upon hearing this, Thor immediately realized what was happening. He raised his eyebrows in disbelief, quickly walked to Billy's side, and bent down to look inside the bronze bell.

"Hiss..." He gasped in surprise.

This bronze bell is only half a person's height and as thick as a person's embrace, yet it can fit a person completely inside.

It was Mochi Mochi who separated from Thor shortly after entering the town!

After the two parted ways, Mochi Mochi never contacted Thor again, and Thor, who was constantly facing danger, also did not use the ancient coin.

I never expected that our reunion would turn out like this!

Mochi Mochi's slender body was twisted into a pretzel by a merciless force and stuffed into the copper bell.

The tilted head, hands, and feet were tightly packed together, protruding from the outside, while the rest of the body was completely stuffed inside.

"He's dead?" Saul asked in disbelief.

This Mochi Mochi was a level three apprentice who could guard the Wizard Tower branch for a long time, how could he have died so easily?

But if people become like this, how can they possibly survive?

"Soon, but not yet." Bill crossed his arms and stared at Mochi Mochi, seemingly lost in thought.

At this moment, Mochi Mochi's stiff eyes suddenly moved, and he looked at Thor with difficulty.

His mouth opened slightly, and a gold coin fell out.

"Ding!"

The metal and the stone slab collided, producing a crisp sound.

As the coin bounced, Thor noticed that it looked very similar to the one Mochi Mochi had given him before, except that the patterns on both sides were crying faces instead of smiling faces.

"Senior?" Thor frowned in confusion as he looked at the coin.

Just then, out of the corner of his eye, he suddenly saw Billy move behind him.

The next second, a strong surge of magical energy came from behind.

But that fluctuation wasn't directed at Mochi Mochi—it was directed at Tasor!

The Spirit Armor spell, which had been waiting in the wings, was activated instantly, blocking the mage's hand that was reaching for him at the last second.

But the next second, the mage changed his grabbing hand to slapping, placing a palm on the semi-transparent barrier of the Spirit Armor spell.

Both the Mage's Hand and the Spirit Armor spell are the most basic applications of magic. When the two collided without any concealment, they immediately generated a tremendous force.

Thor stumbled two steps and nearly bumped into the clock that contained Mochi Mochi.

Just then, the swinging bell suddenly stopped, its chimes ceased, but the sound of the tide outside grew even louder.

If someone looked out the window, they would see that in a short time, the red tide had already spread over most of the low houses.

It felt as if a world-ending tide was about to sweep over us.

But Thor wasn't paying attention to the mood of those around him at the moment. Billy had just ambushed him, but he wasn't entirely unprepared.

However, Billy only used the Hand of a Level 0 Wizard, which was unlikely to cause any real damage to Thor. It could be said that he merely pushed Thor near the bell.

Suddenly, something fell off Thor's body as well.

With a "clink," it collided with the ancient coins that Mochi Mochi had dropped.

There seemed to be some kind of attraction between the two coins; once they fell together, their edges immediately stuck together.

At this moment, everyone—Saul, Billy, and Angela, who was standing some distance away—was staring at the coins on the ground.

Under the watchful eyes of everyone, the two coins suddenly flipped over, the smiling face turning into a crying face, and the crying face turning into a smiling face again.

The next second, Mochi Mochi, who was originally squeezed inside the clock, suddenly fell out.

At the same time, Thor felt a tremendous force trying to pull him into the bell.

Stunned by the recent turn of events, Angela's beautiful eyes kept shifting between Thor and Mochi Mochi.

Although she didn't know the purpose of the ancient coin, just by looking at the changes and interactions between the two coins, she knew that the current situation didn't seem to be good for Saul.

At this moment, her left hand twitched, as if trying to persuade Angela of something, but Angela's eyes flickered, and in the end she just watched coldly without intervening in the conflict between the people.

Thor's face was now contorted with rage.

The clock was becoming increasingly attractive to him, especially to his head.

His legs were firmly planted on the ground, and Xiao Zao flew out immediately, wrapping herself around the window frame of the clock tower.

While resisting the gravitational pull of the clock, Thor kept an eye on the movements of the other three.

After shoving Saul, Billy stood with his arms crossed against the wall.

Angela still looked bewildered, but she would subconsciously avoid Thor's gaze.

At this moment, Mochi Mochi, who had fallen to the ground, was slowly recovering.

He struggled to lift his head and looked at Thor. "I'm sorry, but opening this door requires a sacrifice."

Mochi Mochi didn't look at Thor's unpleasant expression; he knew he wouldn't get any kind words from Thor. So he turned to look at Billy.

"What are you still standing there for?"

Billy, however, remained leaning against the wall of the clock tower. "I don't want to go there and be attacked by the two of you, becoming an unfortunate sacrifice."

Thor was still struggling against the clock's gravity. "You guys, did you know what this curse was from the beginning?"

Mochi Mochi never expected that Thor could still talk to him calmly.

He scratched his head and said honestly, "Actually, I only figured out the general rules of this curse after I came to the clock tower, otherwise I wouldn't have been trapped inside."

Billy glanced at Thor, who was still struggling, a look of surprise in his eyes, and suddenly said, "I only figured it out when I saw Mochi Mochi. But... maybe I made my judgment too early."

It was another ambiguous statement, but Mochi Mochi, still lying on the ground, immediately understood what was going on. He looked at Thor in astonishment, and just as he was about to do something, he saw Thor, who had been struggling to maintain his balance, suddenly relax.

He stood on the ground with his hands in his pockets, looking relaxed, and turned his head to look at Mochi Mochi, his eyes filled with a cold light devoid of emotion.

"I forgot to tell you, I'm not only good at souls, but I'm also particularly good at deciphering runes."

In an instant, Mochi Mochi felt a tremendous attraction coming from above his head.

Before he could recover his strength and calm his mind, he could only look up in astonishment and instantly see the large clock getting closer and closer to him!

Mochi Mochi's last consciousness was that before being rapidly sucked into the clock by a powerful force, he glanced at the two ancient coins on the ground.

His coins, at some point, turned into crying faces again.
