Chapter 250 Replicated Magic Array
Chapter 250 Replicated Magic Array
Nick is not in a good state.
Thor looked the other person up and down again.
Nick was completely hairless, and his already large cloak was so big that it could lift him up like a kite.
His bloodshot eyes twitched occasionally, as if he were avoiding Thor's gaze.
"If you want to go any further, you always have to pay a price." Nick tried to make his tone sound relaxed, but he was radiating tension.
"Do you need my help?" Saul asked.
Nick simply shook his head. "What do you want?"
"Alright... Senior, do you have any more Sound Grinding Fruits? I need to use them for an experiment, so I'd like to buy some."
Nick's pupils constricted sharply, and he instinctively shook his head. "It's gone. What do you need it for? It can only temporarily stabilize emotions; it's not very useful."
"I need to borrow its power to temporarily stabilize my emotions." Thor had already vaguely sensed in the registration room that someone seemed to be hiding something regarding the issue of the Sound Grinding Fruit.
Judging from the current situation, Nick probably knows something too.
Thor originally didn't want to get involved in this mess. But if the grinding sound could really help him stabilize his soul and enter the consciousness platform...
That concerned his path to promotion, so even knowing there were pitfalls ahead, he had to forge ahead anyway.
Nick's eyes were darting around, as if he were caught in a great dilemma.
Thor was certain that Nick had some Grinding Fruit, but he was now uncertain whether Nick, whose mental state seemed unstable, would really be willing to share some with him.
Would they consider the potential benefits and refuse to cooperate?
At that moment, Nick suddenly ducked down and crawled under a cabinet, reaching out and trying to grab inside.
Thor followed behind and waited a short while. He heard a crisp sound and saw Nick stand up somewhat awkwardly.
He moved too quickly, and when he reached his arm under the cabinet, it scraped hard against the bottom.
When he pulled his hand back, there were already bright red marks on his arm.
Blood droplets slowly oozed out, then coalesced into a thin stream and flowed down.
However, the injured Nick seemed oblivious, preoccupied only with stuffing a flat plank into Saul's hand.
"Here, take it all. Don't come looking for me again."
Thor took the plank in astonishment, feeling its weight, which seemed completely disproportionate to the plank itself.
He looked up at Nick. "What do you need? Credits? Magic crystals? Or some other materials?"
Nick shook his head. "I don't want them. You can have them. Don't say I gave them to you; I won't admit it."
Nick placed his thin hand on Thor's shoulder and shoved him toward the door.
Saul didn't resist; he could tell Nick was acting strangely. But Nick was clearly unwilling to talk to Saul in detail.
He yanked open the door that was sealed shut with duct tape and shoved Saul out.
"I don't need your kindness. I advise you to take care of yourself!" Nick said in a cold voice as soon as the door opened.
Nick pushed Saul out the door, and didn't say another word until their eye contact was cut off by the closed door.
Thor stood outside the door for a while, clutching the plank in his hands, until someone passed by at the other end of the corridor, before turning and leaving.
He always felt that Nick actually wanted to say something to him at the end, but in the end he couldn't, or didn't dare to say it.
Thor could only tuck the plank under his robe and pretend nothing was wrong as he walked toward his dormitory.
He held the wooden board under his clothes with his fingers; it was heavy, as if he were supporting a person.
"If grinding really wasn't useful to Nick, why did he go to the trouble of disguising the thing as a wooden board and hiding it under the cabinet?"
Thor ran back to his dormitory, locked the door, and then took out the wooden board containing the Grinding Fruit.
He gently pried the wood in half with both hands.
The sound was crisp and clear.
The wooden board is hollow inside, and through the cracks, you can see gray, flute-shaped fruits inside.
There were six in a row inside the wooden board.
Thor took out two, and then instinctively hid the remaining four as well.
"I'm so nervous because of Nick." He tucked the two nut-shaped nuts into his sleeve.
Just then, someone knocked on the door.
Thor immediately stood up and instinctively pulled his sleeves together.
"Who?"
"I."
The answer, needless to say, is Keli.
Thor went to open the door, and Claire outside was still wearing her metal mask.
The mask seemed thicker.
"Will you be living in the second warehouse from now on?"
"Uh, I've been quite busy lately. Would you like to come in and have a seat?"
Thor wanted to invite Claire in, but Claire shook her head.
"I was rushing to comfort my advisor when I heard you close the door, so I came to check on you."
"Comfort Master Gudo? What happened to him?"
"It's the latest toxin they've researched... which his good apprentice Billy cracked, causing him a blow to his pride. By the way, you usually have a lot of ideas, have you ever considered what other offensive properties metals might have besides being sharp and magnetic?"
"Aggressive?"
Claire pouted—her mask tilted up slightly—and crossed her arms. "The toxin I spent days experimenting with to create was instantly neutralized by Billy. This time, we must find a field he hasn't explored before, so he won't be so smug anymore!"
It turns out that his competitive spirit had been aroused.
But can Billy really make a smug expression on his gloomy face?
"I have no knowledge of metal-based magic." Thor shrugged. He had only memorized the periodic table when he was in school, and he had almost forgotten it.
"If you insist on looking for destructive potential in terms of metals..." Thor thought of a powerful weapon, "You could consider radioactivity, but it's very dangerous. I suggest you don't try it out until you have the ability to protect yourself."
"Radioactivity?" Claire was taken aback. She had heard of radiation—magical radiation, mental radiation—"What is radioactivity?"
Thor stroked his chin. "I don't know the exact mechanism, but some unstable metals are highly radioactive, and the particles and radiation they release are enough to kill. I wonder if there are any here."
Thor regretted it after saying that.
After all, they are two different worlds, and perhaps the radiation contained in witchcraft already includes that metal radiation.
He simply didn't know it.
Different underlying rules may lead the world down completely different paths.
Thor was just saying it casually, but Claire seemed to be somewhat obsessed.
She kept muttering about radioactivity and left as if sleepwalking.
After seeing Claire off, Thor hurriedly returned to the first floor of the East Tower.
He's going to make a deal with Wright tonight.
Upon entering the storeroom, Saul first checked all the candles inside to make sure that at least one hundred had been burned.
He then examined each corpse and valuable item, comparing them against his own warehouse manual.
Thor only placed the Sound-Grinding Fruit and the magic circle he had obtained from Byron on the long table after he was certain that his work for the day would go smoothly and that his experiments would not be disturbed.
"Build a consciousness platform..." Thor thought for a moment, "Little Algae."
Black tentacles swiftly emerged from behind his neck and approached Thor's eyes.
"Next, I need to start preparing for the experiment. If I forget the time, remember to wake me up at 7:30."
Xiao Zao shook her head up and down.
After setting the alarm, Saul picked up his quill and buried himself in it, focusing all his attention on it.
Gradually, the crumpled pieces of waste paper piled up into a small mountain at Thor's feet.
A quill pen was accidentally crushed by too much force, and the fragments lay on the corner of the table.
A huge, specially made parchment lay flat on the long table, forcing all other materials to give way to it.
With a swing of her arm, the ink bottle, which had been squeezed to the corner of the table, was knocked over and then quickly picked up by Xiaozao and put back.
Seeing that Thor was completely oblivious to what was happening, Xiaozhao helplessly shook off the ink splattered on her body.
Then, while keeping an eye on the time, he kept an eye on Thor's busy figure.
Thor, who had been busy from morning till afternoon without even having lunch, finally stopped.
"Done." Thor stood up straight, somewhat incredulous at his speed.
He looked up at the hourglass clock again—it wasn't even seven o'clock yet.
When Xiao Zao saw Thor stop, she crawled over and nudged his head with a puzzled look, as if to ask, "Why did you stop?"
Thor reached out and touched Little Algae's smooth head, feeling incredulous himself.
"I have already replicated the magic array of the consciousness platform."
