Chapter 195 Shifting the Blame East

When the worms arrive, can death be far behind?

All of this seemed like a silent film to Thor, but the terrifying effect it brought was not diminished in the slightest.

His mind began to race as he stared at the diary in front of him.

This diary entry states that he died inside the belly of a bug, and that the bug would follow Thor's scent.

"No, considering my previous diary entries, the danger I avoided was Victor. My last death was because of that white worm."

The white worm, as fat as an elephant, slowly twisted its body and turned toward Swan beside it.

His body made an unpleasant scraping sound against the ground, like something being crushed by a millstone.

His exposed face startled Thor, causing him to widen his eyes and nearly scream.

This worm has a human face growing on its front!

That big face looked like it had been soaked in water or blown up by a balloon; it was pale and wrinkled.

One eye turned into a hazy gray, as if someone had stuck a needle into it and stirred it violently several times, leaving the lens completely cloudy.

His nostrils were also enlarged, big enough to fit a child's head.

When he opened his mouth wide at Swann, Saul didn't see teeth, but rather several rolling heads in his throat.

Those people stared blankly at the outside world, and not one of them struggled.

Swann also saw those heads.

When he met the blank stares of the crowd, Swann stopped shouting.

He already knew that all his struggles were in vain. His mouth was open, his lips trembling slightly, and he murmured something to someone he didn't know.

Even though Thor was only a few meters away watching the man and the insect, he could sense Swan's despair.

The diary also hints to Saul that if he encounters the insects, with his current methods, he will inevitably be devoured by them.

Thor couldn't help but clench his fingers.

And it was directly facing Thor.

Upon closer inspection, the face looked as if it had been soaking in water for days, full of cracks and wrinkles, and a greasy smell assaulted Thor's nostrils.

This peculiar smell even made Thor, who was used to the stench of corpses, feel nauseous.

The human-faced worm sniffed at Thor, who was stuck at the corner of the stairs, and an excited expression appeared on its face.

The human-faced worm actually laughed; it was unclear which organ was vibrating, but it emitted an incredibly distorted laugh.

His nostrils kept opening and closing as he inhaled the scent of Thor with ecstasy.

Within the slightly opening and closing mouth of the human-faced worm, Thor could clearly see several numb human faces, which twitched and rolled constantly as the worm's muscles contracted.

Thor wanted to attack the bug, but as soon as he had the thought, his diary warned him that attacking the bug would anger it and he would be eaten immediately.

Thor could only suppress the surging magic, his mind racing.

"Smell, taste, smell, taste... He was originally going to eat Swann, but his attention suddenly shifted to me. What scent on me attracted him?"

Thor slowly tried to back away, but the diary still warned him that if he moved too much, he would be swallowed by the insects.

Suddenly, something flashed through Thor's mind.

If the insects are attracted by his unique scent, then Thor probably wouldn't have a way to mask the scent without disturbing the insects.

However, the probability of a powerful humanoid worm suddenly becoming interested only in Thor is actually very small.

It's as unlikely as if you randomly stop someone on the street for a paternity test and the result is a 99% match.

With that in mind, the thought process becomes clear.

Thor possesses only one thing that belongs to this castle.

Things that come from the same place are naturally more likely to be related.

An idea flashed through Thor's mind.

This time, the diary finally didn't turn any more pages.

A flicker of joy crossed Thor's eyes, but with his strong willpower and years of honed acting skills, he forcefully transformed it into grief and fear.

He slowly turned his neck to look at Victor on the steps.

Victor was still bound tightly by the tentacles that the algae had sent out.

But his eyes, which he did reveal, remained calm.

He even showed a slight smile.

"I only have one chance," Thor told himself.

"Victor," Thor's lips parted slightly, his voice barely audible, but he knew Victor could hear him, "why did you kill so many people? Why did you play me? What do you want? We can trade. There's no need for fighting. We're all wizard apprentices; profit is more important than death, isn't it?"

Victor blinked.

The algae slowly loosened its grip on Victor.

But Victor was still covered in frost and appeared to be under Thor's control, unable to move.

"I didn't kill them." Victor narrowed his eyes. "I didn't kill any of the people here."

"So you're saying there's no room for negotiation?" Thor's tone turned sinister. "If you don't save me, I'll drag you down with me to the belly of the insects!"

Victor curled his lip indifferently. "Fine, what does it matter? Death is everyone's end anyway, and threats are nothing new to me. Castle, downpour, and you, brother, are my honor."

Victor raised his hand with difficulty, patted his chest, and bowed his head slightly.

"Since you say so..." Thor suddenly moved, but he didn't run directly towards Victor.

He threw something at Victor.

The human-faced worm, which had been sniffing Thor, was suddenly startled. It seemed to snap back to reality, realizing that the food in front of it was about to run away, and quickly opened its mouth wide.

But Thor had no intention of running away or resisting. He simply cast an arrow spell on the small porcelain bottle in the air.

"Snapped!"

The small porcelain bottle, which was spinning in the air and flying towards Victor, was shattered instantly, and a pale yellow, oily liquid spilled out. Due to inertia, most of it still flew towards Victor.

Victor's eyes widened, his body still stiff, and he could only watch helplessly as he was doused with "holy oil"!
