Chapter 187 Brother

Chapter 187 Brother

When adventuring alone, you will definitely carry important things with you. What use would it be to bring unimportant things into the manor?

The old apprentice waited outside the manor for an unknown amount of time, and even had his student hide to observe the area outside the manor.

They probably just want to find some more companions to go in together.

Thor now had a general understanding of the manor's situation. He didn't want to wait anxiously like Crown, wondering if any other visitors would come.

Kron was somewhat embarrassed.

After agreeing to the wealthy businessman's request, he saw the businessman go and seek help from other people.

Kron appeared somewhat unhappy, but in reality, he hoped to have more companions to adventure with.

Although the Bloodthorn family has declined, its former reputation and prestige are still enough to make this wandering apprentice wary.

So after Kron arrived outside the manor first, he didn't rush in. Instead, he waited quietly in the shadows, hoping to find a few reliable companions.

He just hadn't expected that Thor, the first person to arrive here, would have walked in by accident. However, Thor's reaction speed and rapid spellcasting ability impressed Kron.

That's why he took the initiative to share information about the manor, hoping to find an opportunity for cooperation. He just didn't expect this little guy to be so impatient.

Now Kron was even more certain that the other party came from the Wizard Tower, and only someone from such a large wizarding force would be so arrogant.

With this partner, we no longer need those small fry.

"Alright then, let's go in now."

Kron quickly tidied himself up and, with his visibly nervous apprentice in tow, followed Thor toward the manor gate.

However, Thor looked up at the gate, which was higher than the wall, and turned to Kron, saying, "There's no need to go inside the manor and then split up. I'm planning to climb over the wall over there and take a look."

Thinking that the area outside the main building shouldn't be too dangerous, Kron nodded in agreement. "Alright, let's meet at the castle gate in an hour."

Sol nodded, bidding farewell to Kron and the other man for the time being.

He walked around half of the manor's perimeter wall, his gaze fixed on the rooftops that protruded above it.

When he reached a section of the wall that had collapsed at the top, he heard the strange noise again.

This time he heard it more clearly; it sounded like some kind of string music.

Like a lonely person, casually plucking the strings of a musical instrument.

"This is it."

With the scroll in his left hand, Thor immediately flipped over the gap in the wall.

As soon as he landed, he stomped his feet lightly to make sure that he was standing on soft ground and dense weeds.

Just then, a few melodious notes from the strings, accompanied by a sorrowful tune, sounded behind him.

Thor frowned, turned his head, and looked up at the man standing on top of the wall.

"Victor, what are you doing playing the piano at a time like this? Get down here right now!"

A silver-haired youth, holding a harp, stands atop the wall, gazing into the distance.

The wind tousled his soft hair.

The young man's face carried a faint melancholy, and his heart seemed to be filled with sorrow.

"The once-great wizarding family has fallen into decline." Before he finished speaking, he plucked a string, the deep and melodious sound seeming to echo his lament.

"If this world has a main theme, it must be melancholy." The young man's azure eyes shimmered with tears.

Veins bulged on Thor's forehead, and his clenched fists trembled. The scroll in his hand made a creaking sound under the strain, as if it were about to burst at any moment.

"Victor! We're here to steal things, not for you to perform an opera. If you don't get down here, I'm going to beat you up."

Victor still looked sad, but he finally listened to Thor and jumped down from the wall, landing lightly beside Thor.

"Sol, how can you talk to your brother like that?"

Thor looked dazed and confused, but when he saw Victor about to raise the strings again, anger seized his mind once more.

"If you sing again, I'll throw away your broken guitar!"

Victor pursed his lips in grievance and hugged his small wooden harp, which was less than half a meter tall, tightly to his chest.

Seeing his brother looking like this again, Thor waved his hand helplessly.

"Alright, let's go first..." Thor stood there, stunned. "You messed things up, I've forgotten where we were going."

Victor held his violin and raised his chin.

"The garden, you said you wanted to go see the garden."

"Right." Thor slapped his forehead, puzzled as to how he had suddenly forgotten. "That garden looks a lot like the center of a magic circle. Be careful when you go there later, don't wander off. If you encounter any danger... don't cause me any trouble."

"Although I'm not as talented as you, I've been at the second level of advancement for many years now!"

Thor said helplessly, "I don't trust your strength, I don't trust your brain!"

Victor froze, and disbelief gradually appeared on his face.

"Sol, I've never seen such a fierce little brother of yours."

Thor didn't want to argue with Victor. He waved for Victor to follow him and turned to walk towards the garden in the front yard of the manor.

"I just took a look, and the heart of this estate is this garden. Strange, this front garden is far too large."

Victor obediently followed behind Thor, but his eyes had already started to wander away from where he was going.

"Perhaps the owner of this manor was a romantic gentleman who enjoyed strolling among the breeze and dew at dawn and dusk, savoring the fragrance."

"Perhaps he just lacks space to display his so-called works of art. The garden is so big, it would be convenient to kill someone and bury the body." Thor happened to pass by a stone statue, raised his hand and knocked on it. It was solid, and he did not detect any magical fluctuations on it.

"Strange, why does the manor owner have so many human sculptures?" Thor passed by another stone statue and looked up at the life-size human sculpture on the stone pier.

"This is art, brother," Victor said, standing beneath the sculpture. "Look at the terrified expression on the sculpture's face, so lifelike, it's like the work of a master."

Thor stared at the sculpture's expression: wide eyes, gaping mouth, and contorted jaw.

He couldn't sense any artistic atmosphere; all he felt was a chilling and eerie atmosphere.

"Be careful," Thor said involuntarily, lowering his voice. "I have a feeling these stone statues might be transformed from living people. It's just that so much time has passed that the magical energy on them has dissipated."

"Really?" Victor mimicked Thor by placing his hand on the sculpture. "I can't feel any life in him. What a pitiful man. He's trying so hard to run, yet he can't escape the clutches of fate."

Seeing Victor start acting crazy again, Thor rolled his eyes helplessly.

"There are no traps or signs of witchcraft. Let's hurry, the treasure shouldn't be here."

They quickened their pace and entered the front garden.

The garden is large, but it has been neglected for a long time. Some of the delicate and famous flowers have withered and faded, but clusters of bright wildflowers are blooming in the corners of the flower beds.

"The center point should be over there." Thor looked around again, calculated in his mind, and finally pointed to a spot in the garden.

Victor followed behind Thor, looking around leisurely, without putting his mind to anything.

When the two arrived at the location Thor had estimated, they both stopped and frowned as they looked ahead.

There was a dilapidated flower bed in front of us, with a large hole dug in the center and soil scattered all around. It was the dirtiest and messiest place in the garden.

"Oh no, could the treasure have already been stolen by someone else?" Victor asked, feigning anxiety.

Thor sensed his surroundings but found no danger. He still held the scroll of the Spirit Armor spell in his left hand and slowly approached the pit.

Although the site has been damaged to some extent, the shape of the pit still reveals that a square object was once placed inside.

"It looks like a coffin was buried here."
