Chapter 185 The Coming Storm

Chapter 185 The Coming Storm

Thor nodded and jumped off the car against the wind.

His collar was blown open slightly by the wind, revealing a tiny wooden sculpture, about the size of a thumb, strung on a black rope, at his neck.

The black rope wasn't long, and the doll clung tightly to his collarbone, so it didn't wobble even when Thor jumped.

Upon closer inspection, a wooden splinter was visible behind the sculpture, deeply embedded in Thor's skin.

This is the makeshift locator that Thor rushed to make before he set off.

It can last for three months.

There's basically no need to worry about out-of-body experiences.

"Go back and find a hotel to rest. I'll walk on my own from here."

The driver hesitated for a moment, then asked cautiously, "Young master, please let me wait here for you."

The wind was howling, and who knew how heavy the rain would be? Even Thor didn't know how long it would take him to return.

Even so, the driver still hoped to wait where he was.

Saul didn't press him. "Do as you please. If you're stopping on the side of the road, get inside the car. Don't be stupid and sit outside in the rain."

The driver bowed deeply, "Please be careful, young master!"

Leaving the coachman behind, Saul braved the fierce wind and approached the blocked path.

After observing for a while, he determined that the area must have been reinforced with layers of security, to the point that the entire path was completely blocked off.

He walked to a dilapidated hut next door and knocked on the door.

After a long while, an old man with tattered clothes and a dazed look opened the door a crack.

"What is it?" The old man's voice was swallowed up by the gale.

Saul reached out to steady the door. "Hello, madam. I haven't been here for many years. Why is this road blocked?"

The old man heard Thor's words clearly, but did not realize it was due to witchcraft.

When she saw that Saul was asking about Xiao Lu, a hint of unease flashed in her cloudy eyes.

"You can't go in there. Anyone who goes in either dies or goes insane!"

It sounds dangerous, but that just shows this is Thor's destination.

"But I have friends who live here, are they all dead?"

The old man looked up at Saul in surprise, glancing at his simple clothes. He hesitated for a moment before saying, "The people who lived there, even if they weren't dead, have moved away. My wife and I can't walk anymore, so we're staying here. Young man, listen to my advice: no matter if your friend is still alive or not, don't go looking for him. Go back to where you came from."

Saul, unwilling to give up, asked again, "Madam, do you know what exactly happened?"

But the old man didn't seem to want to answer his question and even tried to retreat back inside the door.

Seeing this, Thor spread his hands, revealing a silver coin.

The old man was startled and stopped trying to close the door.

Her eyes were fixed on the silver coin, and she said tremblingly, "All I know is that the place where people first died was Ralph Manor at the end of the road. It's been renamed several times, but now it's called Ralph Manor again."

The old man still advised Saul, "Don't go, and don't ask around, it's too dangerous!"

"Ralph..." Thor murmured, "Isn't anyone going to do anything about it?"

This is, after all, the territory of the Wizard Tower. If it's reported, it would be considered an outing for a third-level apprentice.

But the old man just shook his head.

Saul asked a few more questions, most of which the elderly could not answer.

Finally, he stuffed the silver coin in his hand into the old man's hand and turned to leave.

Watching Saul climb over the fence and walk inside, the old man closed the gate with a worried expression... Then, he grinned widely, revealing a twisted smile of excitement.

She proudly rubbed and kissed the silver coin again and again, and finally carefully placed it into an inconspicuous ceramic jar.

The jar was already piled high with copper coins, silver coins, and even a few gold coins.

After doing all this, the old man's face returned to a sorrowful expression. He sat on the small stool, waiting for the next person to ask for directions.

……

Ralf was West Germany's grandfather.

West Germany was the first mortal enemy Thor encountered after arriving in this world.

Most importantly, Sid knows that the Death Wizard's Diary is on Thor.

Thor used the diary to learn from West Germany's remaining consciousness that the Death Wizard's Diary was passed down from their Bloodthorn family ancestors.

However, no one has been able to unlock the secrets of the diary and become its true owner.

West Germany's grandfather tried many methods for this, and even went mad for a long time because of it.

According to Sid, when he entered the wizard's tower, his family had already been killed by his grandfather. Even his grandfather later died.

But here's a question: how did Sid escape unscathed and even get into the wizard's tower where the diary was located?

"The tower master sent me here to resolve this trouble, which is very likely related to Sid and his family. Are there any other survivors in their family? Or are there any evil spirits with lingering consciousness? Most importantly, does anyone else know about the diary?"

Saul became a little nervous when the diary was mentioned.

"To resolve the problems left over from two years ago... Why wait two years? Was it to wait for me to reach level two?"

Therefore, the enemy's strength is at least above that of a typical second-level apprentice.

Thor frowned, concerned with his most important secret.

In fact, after Sid's death, Saul planned to go to his family's old residence to find the secret of the diary. However, at that time he was only a Level 1, and he was neither qualified nor capable of leaving the tower, so the matter had to be put on hold for the time being.

I never expected to be assigned here by the tower master ahead of schedule.

Therefore, the "lingering trouble" must be related to West Germany, and the strange events that occurred in the town of Samp are probably also related to that trouble.

For this trip, Thor deliberately concealed his status as a wizard tower apprentice, changing into the clothes of an ordinary mercenary.

However, his appearance on this deserted street was still somewhat conspicuous.

Another gust of wind swept by, carrying away a broken branch from the ground.

When the branch fell back to the ground, Thor had vanished.

As Thor reached the end of the path, the clouds in the sky grew even thicker. Although it was daytime, it was as dark as dusk.

A magnificent manor appeared before Thor's eyes.

Even though the gate is covered with traces of wind and rain erosion, the walls are peeling, and there are pebbles and withered branches scattered on the ground, it cannot conceal the former splendor of this place.

Beyond the high walls, the rooftops of the castle inside can be seen in the distance.

Just as Thor was considering whether to push the door open or climb over the wall, he suddenly felt someone watching him.

Without hesitation, Thor turned and gave chase.

Halfway there, he suddenly squatted down and then stood up again, picked up a pebble and flung it out.

"Ouch!" a boy cried out in pain.

Just as Thor stepped forward to grab him, a small fireball suddenly flew rapidly from a distance.

Thor quickly dodged, but the small fireball exploded in mid-air, turning into countless tiny sparks that covered all the directions he could dodge.

If there's nowhere to hide, then let's not hide.

Suddenly, a large, transparent hand appeared in front of him and slapped it hard at the small sparks.

The fierce little sparks were extinguished in an instant, and the remaining few could no longer harm Thor.

"Huh?" Another older voice came from behind the house to Thor's left.

Thor turned his head and saw an old man with white hair, leaning on a wooden cane, walking out from behind the corner of the wall and looking at him in surprise.

"You can instantly cast 0th-tier sorcery. Not bad. You've already advanced to the second-level apprentice level, haven't you?" Although the other person was old, he seemed very agile.

Judging from the magical fluctuations just now, the white-haired old man seemed to be an ordinary level three apprentice. Unless he deliberately concealed his strength.
