Chapter 135 This body is really good.
Bill and Wright stood back to back, struggling to fend off the attacks of the headless monsters around them.
Fortunately, those headless monsters didn't intend to kill them; otherwise, at least one of the two top-tier level three apprentices would be dead by now.
The headless monster seemed to be deliberately driving Wright and Bill back from the edge of the valley.
Meanwhile, Wright and Bill took the opportunity to move to the nearest cave, attempting to enter underground and use the maze-like terrain to shake off the numerous monsters.
But to their surprise, before they even entered the cave, a large group of people rushed out. These were the very apprentices from the land-based boat who had been interfering with the two and trapping them in the attack of the human-headed monsters.
The two sides faced each other and almost came to blows, but they managed to maintain a temporary calm by being wary of the human-headed monsters around them.
The countless human-headed monsters, after forcing everyone close to the cave at the bottom of the valley, gathered together and piled high on top of each other.
These faces formed a tall wall, like excited spectators in the stands of a gladiatorial arena, their eyes bloodshot, spittle flying, staring intently at the trapped beast inside.
The besieged crowd looked at the ever-growing wall of human heads and felt a profound sense of powerlessness.
"Hermann!" Wright saw Hermann fleeing in panic and was filled with rage.
Wright was covered in mud and blood, and was seriously injured.
He and Bill were already frustrated enough by being forced back into the valley by the mountain full of headless monsters. But after encountering the people who could travel by land, Herman, instead of thinking about how to escape, actually attacked them!
Herman suddenly intervened, causing Wright to fall into a horde of headless monsters and nearly die.
Later, it was Herman who ordered his men to stop him and Bill from escaping into the crypt, which led to Wright and Bill being attacked from both sides and both of them being seriously injured.
Only now that the head monster suddenly stopped attacking did Wright have the energy to glare at Herman.
But before the anger could turn into curses, a powerful and icy aura spread from the cave entrance through which Herman and his companions had just escaped.
Wright and Bill both instinctively looked towards the cave, only to realize that they had been forced back here in their panic.
They were forced back to the cave exit from which they had just escaped.
Wright and Bill exchanged a glance, and a word simultaneously came to mind.
Evil spirits!
A hand slowly emerged from the cave, teasing the sunlight.
Everyone turned to look at the cave entrance, their faces frozen in fear and tension.
The valley that had just been filled with the sounds of fighting suddenly fell into an eerie silence.
When Herman and the others escaped the cave, the evil spirit only killed two people.
But he wasn't in a hurry to chase after the rest of the people; instead, he stood there, savoring the delicious taste of his soul.
"Truly a complete and fresh soul."
The evil spirit licked its lips and lifted its foot again.
Having absorbed the spirits of two people, his figure was no longer so unsteady, and he could stand steadily on the ground.
One more step forward, and there's sunshine.
The evil spirit stopped.
He seemed to be afraid of sunlight.
But when he looked down and saw his hands, a hint of excitement appeared in his eyes.
He walked to the cave entrance, where shadow and sunlight met, raised his hand, and slowly extended his fingertips.
The sunlight shone on the evil spirit's fingertips, but it brought no pain as before, only a faint warmth.
The evil spirit chuckled, stretched its hand forward again, took a step, and stood in the sunlight, welcoming the long-awaited light.
"This body is really... nice."
Looking up at the sky, the sunlight hadn't been so gentle in many years.
"I originally intended to just eat this junior apprentice, but I never expected his body to be so useful. Perhaps, I can use this body to be completely resurrected!"
The evil spirit took another step forward and stepped on a small, rolling pebble.
"Click".
The sound of stones cracking underfoot was particularly clear in the quiet Chui Shou Valley.
It broke the ice-bound Chui Shou Valley.
"Thor?" Wright, who had been staring at the cave entrance, looked at the person who came out in disbelief.
Looking at Thor, who was feared by Herman and his group, he didn't know whether to feel sad or afraid.
When Bill told him to use spikes to block the exit, Wright didn't see Thor and realized that Thor probably couldn't get out.
However, they had just abandoned Thor when they were forced back to their original cave entrance by hordes of headless monsters.
Amidst his disheveled state, he saw Thor strolling out leisurely.
Fate is truly a fucking joke!
Bill was even more surprised than Wright.
His entire body was purple, a horrific consequence of the overuse of highly poisonous witchcraft.
"You...you're still alive?" Bill asked, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth.
The evil spirit watched the crowd's reactions as if they were a comedy. Instead of launching a killing spree, it smirked and uttered a few words.
"I should say, I... survived."
The hoarse, youthful voice was like a spark igniting a fuse, instantly drawing the crowd of people on the perimeter.
A huge cheer erupted, and the headless monster jumped and leaped, managing to keep the high wall from collapsing despite its swaying.
"Lord Morton! Lord Morton!"
These human-headed monsters cheered and approached the evil spirit, quickly blocking the cave behind him as well.
The shouts of the headless monster echoed through the valley, making the faces of the surrounded wizard apprentices even more grim.
Bill and Wright exchanged a glance, both feeling a bitter taste in their mouths.
They now realized that the person before them was not Thor, but an evil spirit that had somehow managed to possess Thor.
Moreover, this possession wasn't simply manipulating the corpse, but a much deeper form of possession. It was just unexpected that Thor's corpse could help the evil spirit avoid the corrosive effects of sunlight.
Originally intended as bait to delay the evil spirits, it inadvertently helped them leave the cave, plunging them into an even more terrifying predicament.
I wonder if Bill regrets it now?
He and Wright could only remain vigilant against the evil spirits while keeping an eye on the headless monster behind them, their minds racing as they tried to think of a way to escape.
The evil spirit squinted its eyes, enjoying the headless monster's praise.
He stepped forward, looking at the faces filled with fear and disbelief.
"So, which one should we eat first?"
He casually walked over to a female apprentice.
The people around quickly dodged to the left and right. The female apprentice was so frightened that she retreated repeatedly, and accidentally bumped her back into a high wall made of human-headed monsters.
The evil spirit smirked, "This is for you."
"Whoosh!" The headless monsters cheered and fell down, engulfing the female apprentice's figure.
A gap suddenly appeared in the wall.
A sharp-eyed apprentice immediately tried to escape from there, but as soon as he ran over, he saw that the head monsters had already jumped back to their positions and blocked the gap in the wall.
All that remained on the ground was the female apprentice's head and a pair of slender feet.
The most terrifying thing was that the female apprentice's eyes were still open, staring intently downwards at the seamless connection between her neck and ankle.
Then she burst into tears.
The apprentice who rushed forward was so frightened that he staggered backward.
His arms swung involuntarily, hitting someone.
Then, he saw a gray, semi-transparent hand, with visible bones inside, press directly onto his face.
The white spirit was then extracted.
The evil spirit, with a dazed expression, absorbed the white spirit into its palms, then slowly turned around to look at the others present.
Finally, one of the apprentices broke down, relentlessly attacking the evil spirit despite his exhaustion. However, the low-level witchcraft suddenly disintegrated and vanished the moment it got close to the evil spirit.
"Let's attack him together!" Herman, no longer caring about silencing them, shouted to Bill and the other two, "If we don't kill the evil spirit, none of us will survive."
Although he was reluctant to cooperate with his enemy, the situation was critical and this was not the time to dwell on hatred; the wizard apprentice would not act on emotion.
Bill immediately agreed, "Okay, have your men buy some time!"
Low-level witchcraft is useless against a formal wizard-level evil spirit. Only when they work together to cast high-level witchcraft can they possibly find a chance of survival.
