Chapter 1012 Be a good girl and work for me

Saul followed Shaquille into the underground of the Institute of Practice.

There are pipes extending from the Mechanical Heart in the basement of both the Practice Institute and the Knowledge Institute.

It can also be said that the most important areas of the entire Sky City are all connected to the Mechanical Heart.

These important areas also have access points to the Mechanical Heart, but these access points are closed most of the time. Ophelia only enters through spatial teleportation arrays to avoid damaging the Mechanical Heart as much as possible.

However, the spatial teleportation array that was once located within the White Glass Castle has now disappeared. Since the spatial array exhibits almost no magical fluctuations when not in use, no one knows where Ophelia moved the external array.

Therefore, Thor can only try to enter the Mechanical Heart through the connected pipes.

Guided by Shaquille, he found a pipe mixed in with the other vents and then inserted his fate line into it first.

The passage is hollow, and the winding pipes inside have no effect on the fate line.

However, after descending to a certain depth, the air began to become blurry and viscous, as if a large amount of steam was mixed in the pipe.

Thor's fate continues to unfold.

The pipe walls began to become blurry and rough, covered with dried-out debris.

It should be the limb of some kind of creature, but because it is too fragmented, it is impossible to identify what kind of creature it is with the naked eye.

There is no way to confirm whether they were the low-ranking wizards who were sacrificed to Sky City as nourishment.

Thor's mental energy continued downwards without being hindered in the slightest.

Then a semi-liquid, semi-solid substance began to appear in the pipe. This unidentified substance almost merged with the pipe, gently expanding and contracting, its frequency resembling that of a normal human heartbeat.

Seeing this, Thor knew he was almost at his destination.

Although Thor's progress along the Fateline was smooth, the passageway wasn't truly without danger. However, for the Fateline, many traps and restrictions existed on a different level, posing no threat to such a high-level entity as the Fateline itself.

If anyone else wanted to enter the Mechanical Heart through the pipes, it would be impossible for them to do it as smoothly as Thor.

Even a fourth-tier wizard would need a considerable amount of time, and the commotion and chain reaction it would cause could very well alarm Ophelia.

Thor continued deeper, bypassing a complex mechanical facility that looked like it could easily explode, and heading down to where there was spatial feedback.

That should be the place where Ophelia and Thor conducted their experiments exploring and connecting the Rainbow World.

As the fate line deepens, the pipes become smooth again, the metallic feel diminishes, and they resemble a girl with silver skin, smooth and warm to the touch.

Finally, the Fate Line broke through the last barrier and entered the interior of the Mechanical Heart.

To Thor's slight disappointment, Ophelia wasn't there either!

After checking around, Thor searched almost every corner but found no trace of Ophelia or any magical fluctuations.

The entire Mechanical Heart was spotless, as if no one had been there for years.

Thor withdrew his hand and looked at Shaquille, who was standing to the side, not daring to leave. "She's not in the Mechanical Heart."

Shaquille was waiting for Thor to enter the pipe, and then find that he could not enter, or be blocked and take strong measures. But before he could think of a countermeasure, Thor told him that the city lord was not inside.

No, how did you know?

Shaquille was filled with questions.

"Besides the White Glass Castle and the Mechanical Heart, is there anywhere else Ophelia could be?"

Shaquille spread his hands helplessly. "I really don't know. Actually, we're not usually very clear about Lord Ophelia's movements. After all, as you know, if we want to find a lord, we just need to go to White Glass Castle and ask any lord there."

Thor crossed his arms, tapping his fingers incessantly on his arm. "Yeah, back then Ophelias were everywhere, but now there aren't a single one left. Where could she have gone?"

Ophelia was clearly trying to conceal her whereabouts, making outsiders believe that she was in Sky City.

"Who among you last saw Ophelia?"

Shaquille was sweating; he realized he couldn't answer any of the questions Saul had asked.

"Well, the city lord suddenly sent us a message to close the White Glass Castle Research Institute, so we didn't get to see her."

"When did she send you the message?"

Shaquille quickly gave a date.

Thor did some mental calculations and realized that the date was shortly after he escaped from Sky City.

He pondered to himself, "I met Kismet after leaving Sky City. Kismet said he would help me deal with Ophelia. And after that, Ophelia really didn't come after me. Could her sudden seclusion be related to Kismet?"

"The former owner of the diary, Douglas, who had been traveling for hundreds of years without returning, has suddenly returned to the wizarding world. Could it be that Kismet and Ophelia did something? Perhaps they conspired to send Douglas a signal?"

At the time, Ophelia failed to advance, but she regarded Thor as the next channel to advance to the fifth rank. If Kismet has any way to make Ophelia give up pursuing Thor and cut off all contact with the outside world, it must be related to advancement.

If you want to know how to advance to the fifth rank, the most efficient way is to ask a fifth-rank wizard directly!

Saul painstakingly connected the three people together.

"If Ophelia is indeed connected to Douglas, then she's likely not in Sky City, but on the continent of Iskeper!"

With that thought in mind, Thor flew directly to the sky above Sky City and looked down at the busy wizards and ordinary people on the ground.

Immediately, his voice resounded throughout the entire Sky City.

"Lady Ophelia, I am Thor. I wish to borrow your Sky City for a while. If you do not refuse within one day, it will be considered that you have tacitly agreed!"

The island was in an uproar; both those who knew Thor and those who didn't were stunned.

Shaquille, the dean of the practice institute who had just been following Thor, gaped wide-eyed.

"Borrow what?"

His voice wasn't loud, but Thor could still hear it clearly from high above.

Thor lowered his head, his eyes already reflecting Shaquille's bewildered expression.

"If Ophelia does not refuse, everyone in Sky City must leave within ten days. The relocation will be handled by the Dean of the Academy of Practice; everything will proceed according to your established practices."

Shaquille then realized what it meant to be utterly astonished.

If it weren't for maintaining his dignity as a third-tier wizard, he would have liked to do what other ordinary people do: sit down on the ground and quit.

This kind of island-wide relocation within ten days... there's no precedent for this!

After Thor finished speaking, he didn't care about the reactions of others at all. He flew directly into the main hall of White Glass Castle and sat on the city lord's throne that Ophelia's vase had once sat on.

Anyway, Thor wouldn't waste the next eleven days he had to wait.

Eleven days later, he will begin to transform this isolated island into a vessel of falsehood, that is, bait that carries the essence of error, and then feed it to the abyss!

This transformation is destined to be incredibly difficult, but Thor has already decided that he will invite Douglas to come and study it together.

After Thor discovered that the Abyss seemed to be trying to stop Camus from unleashing the Black Tide, he found that all the channels that could connect him to Camus had been severed.

Since Douglas insists on unleashing the Black Tide and activating the Abyss's doomsday invasion, then you might as well obediently work for him!

Otherwise, Thor would just give up!

Let him observe the ghosts!
