Chapter 1000 Testing and Improvement

Chapter 1000 Testing and Improvement

Preventing a sixth-tier resurrection is not something that can be accomplished overnight.

Thor returned to the Chaotic Realm and decided to begin his tests on the skeletal monsters.

Klee and Brando are now focusing their improvements on increasing the controllability of the Bone Monster.

Thor took the ten newly created skeletal monsters and returned to the desolate black desert where no one else was around.

Here, he takes out the anchor point that had lived in his left hand for a long time from the space created by the Symphony of Fate.

Now that Thor is at the fourth level, when he gets closer to the anchor point again, he notices that the inside of the anchor point is actually a constantly changing fluctuation. It is not static.

However, this change is also regular, and once the regularity is broken, it will cause the pollution inside the anchor point to spread outward.

The pollution fluctuations that spread to the outside world are highly infectious, or rather, they are a very domineering fluctuation that can forcibly change the fluctuations of others.

This is also why Herbert, the Firefly Lord, mutated and died the instant he was touched by the anchor point.

The anchor point comes from a sixth-tier wizard, and even if it's just a fragment, it's still at the fourth-tier level. If it wants to assimilate a third-tier wizard, it will naturally change the third-tier wizard into a form that even it wouldn't recognize.

"If an anchor point is located near the Eye of the Abyss and assimilates a wizard, the Eye of the Abyss can easily absorb that wizard. However, the wizard who is corrupted only changes his appearance; his essence remains the same. What the Eye of the Abyss wants is the essential composition of a wizard."

To understand the essence, analyzing a single entity is certainly insufficient. That's why the Eye of the Abyss needs to absorb the entire world, conduct statistical analysis, and establish new knowledge to revive itself.

However, this is also very dangerous.

In haste—even though centuries had passed for Saul—the essence he arrived at was likely riddled with obvious errors. And if these errors were exposed, he could very well die again.

"Is this the defensive measure by which the Eye of the Abyss sealed off the wizarding world, preventing it from producing fifth-tier wizards again?"

"In other words, the Eye of the Abyss is also afraid of enemies appearing."

Having determined his approach, Thor waved his hand and created a makeshift laboratory in the black desert.

The walls and chairs in the laboratory are all made of inert black powder. This is to minimize the impact of the experimental equipment on the anchor point and the skeletal monster.

Thor then placed one of the skeletal monsters, numbered 01, on the newly created experimental table and picked up the anchor point to approach 01.

Thor's mental energy was also constantly projected outwards, and an invisible Fate Line extended around him to observe whether there were any other forces different from the pollution fluctuations.

Last time, the anchor only reacted when it touched an enemy. This time, under Thor's careful observation, he discovered that 01 reacted immediately as soon as the anchor appeared in the lab.

This reaction manifested as a polluting fluctuation within the skeletal monster that only appeared after entering the wizarding world.

The fluctuations were minimal, and the substance did not dissipate from the body.

Thor continued to approach with the anchor point in hand. When he was half a meter away from the skeletal monster, the fluctuations inside the monster were drawn out and resonated slightly with the fluctuations of the anchor point.

Thor waited for five minutes but found no sign that the resonance was getting stronger.

So he moved the anchor point closer to the skeleton monster again. He then observed the skeleton monster's reaction when the anchor point was 30 cm, 20 cm, and 10 cm away from the monster.

As the skeletal monster approaches the anchor point, it continuously intensifies the emitted fluctuations, but the resonance with the polluted fluctuations emitted by the anchor point does not increase in the same proportion.

"So what the Soul-Stabilizing Array truly stabilizes is this resonance ability." Thor nodded, satisfied with the current effect of the Soul-Stabilizing Spell Array.

The destructive power of resonance is extremely strong. If resonance can be broken, it might be possible to directly become immune to anchor point contamination.

But this is very difficult; it is already quite an achievement to reduce resonance.

Although those powerful wizards of the fifth rank and above from ancient times are no longer in this world, the things they occasionally left behind are still very useful.

After completing the close-range test, Thor immediately attached the anchor point to the skeletal monster.

Upon contact, the skeletal monster immediately changed color, gradually turning gray from the point of contact, its appearance shifting towards that of the anchor monster in the abyss.

Before the skeletal monster could fully transform into the anchor point's form, its body completely disintegrated, turning into a pile of unresponsive sand.

Thor continued recording, "Judging from the skeleton monster's reaction, the anchor is indeed assimilating everything it comes into contact with. However, most things are destroyed in the early stages of assimilation because they cannot withstand the new fluctuations and their own structure is broken."

The results of the study were similar to Saul's previous predictions, which put him in a good mood.

At the very least, it shows that he is on the right track.

"The skeletal monster itself is a product of the abyss's corruption, and it has some similarities to the anchor point, which is why it lasted longer than a third-tier wizard. But it is not an anchor point after all, and its strength is insufficient, which is why it collapsed before being completely assimilated."

Next, Thor took out the enhanced skeletal monster, number 02, which was improved by Brando.

When the anchor point experiment was conducted again, Saul found that 02 was more flexible and stronger than 01, but its resistance to anchor points was actually about the same as 01.

"Brando has never been in contact with the anchor point, and his understanding of the Black Tide pollution is not as good as Klee's. So when he was modifying it, he still referred to the characteristics of becoming stronger in the Wizarding World."

But what good is strength? Can it still reach the fourth tier?

Alek and his group were also able to contain anchor points and conduct experiments, but even the fourth-tier instructor Gorsa almost got completely corrupted after entering the abyss filled with anchor points.

"The key is still in fixing the soul. The less resonance the skeletal monsters generate, the better. And the more of them there are, the longer they can hold out in front of the anchor point."

Thor then took out the remaining eight skeletal monsters and tested them again, with the same result.

After completing the experiment, he retracted the anchor point, then pushed over the entire temporary laboratory and buried it deep in the black desert to prevent any remaining pollution fluctuations from affecting his own people.

Then, in a flash, he returned to the Great Rift.

Claire and Brando are busy in the lab.

"Completely abandon Brando's improvement plan. Focus all our efforts on increasing the number of skeletal monsters we can control. I will also continue to improve the effects of the Soul-Fixing Spell Circle. Please contact me any progress or discoveries you make."

Upon hearing this, Brando's lips twitched slightly, but he could only nod. It was a little heartbreaking that all his efforts over the past six months had been in vain.

But he had no temper in front of the third-tier Thor, let alone the fourth-tier.

So he obediently went to work as Keli's assistant, first learning how to use Keli's plan to improve the skeleton monster.

Claire ran to Thor, grabbed his arm, and turned him around. "Thor, can you make direct contact with the anchor point?"

Thor looked into Claire's eyes and nodded slowly.

Claire looked up at Thor intently, her eyes shining. "Can you modify me? Modify me into a body that can contact the anchor point?"
